  • Wanting to upgrade my laptop that was never opened since it was bought new 5 years ago, I came across this problem with one of the screws. It was turning empty and out of reach to be pulled of. The service shop authorized by the laptop's producer couldn't extract the screw to gain access to the laptop's internal components other than by braking open the case and replace it which would have been too expensive to accept. So, I decided to do it myself and record doing it. It's the actual process that was a success at first attempt.

Then you probably have to come up with an unique solution, record and post it for anyone else.
      Maybe something magnetic would help.

The screw is too big in my case to actually put something under it

Thank you for making a video to assist people. but to those who value their time: skip straight to 20 min. Everything before that is nothing more than the endlessly redundant struggle to get the string under the screw. Everything between the 1 minute mark and the 20 minute mark could easily be edited out and this would still be the same video, serving the same function, but without wasting 20 more minutes *than necessary* of peoples day with literally zero added benefit.
Sorry to be that guy but that was insane

Thanks for acknowledging my intention! I left it unedited to encourage patience and resilience. Didn't want to suggest I did it with no struggle :) Anyone can always skip through.

Nice vid, unfortunately the wire wouldn't stay under the screw for longer than a second for me

You will have to twist it several times around the screw.
And practice your patience while you're at it ;)
