I just want to talk about the comments here, some of them are really harsh. But I think you guys are missing the point here, these traveling videos are not a travel plan kinda video where they do a through research on what to prepare, what to do, where to go or what to eat for a meaningful and fufilling experience. These videos were made by two student who are on a thight buget and with minimal research and planning, they are just some tourists who films their unique experience, for what we know, they might be doing their best already. Of course they will face some difficulties and inconvenience along the way, it is human nature to complaint about things that frustrates us, and their opinions are not even wrong in their situation. If you are a budget traveler, you might find yourself in the same situation as them. There's no need to be so defensive when receiving criticisms, what they experience is not an everyday experience that citizens experience anyway. It is good enough that we know what's better and maybe give suggestions, or just watch other travelers if their opinion bothers you so much. There are a lot of other travel youtubers with amazing videos that puts in tons of effort and research, don't cage yourselves to the opinion of from one channel, and remember they are just opinions, not facts.
Agreed! Some of us r being too sensitive though... I don't feel that's good, we could just correct them but please not with anger. It's normal to pay some wrong money or thinking the tickets are expensive during travelling. Actually that's just a part of travelling. To foreign travelers, it's very easy to buy something more expensive than it should be, especially when you're using a new and unfamiliar app. They know nothing about the promotions or how the thing usually works. It happened on myself, so I totally understand. I went to Canada from China, for the first 2 years (that's a long long time!) I still didn't find out there is a Christmas promotion on phone bill charges almost 50% off of the regular fee for the whole year until my landlord told me. I obtusely paid that 60 CAD every month... Wasted a lot of money🤣.
"There's no need to be so defensive when receiving criticisms,..." "Agreed! Some of us r being too sensitive though..." *Sure signs of inferiority complex* Good luck explaining that to a Chinese.

1、I just checked on the Eurostar website. London to Marseille is about 1,000 kilometers, and the cheapest ticket for a 300km/h high-speed train is USD360. Shanghai to Beijing is more than 1,300 kilometers, and the cheapest ticket for a 300km/h high-speed train is USD82. So, China's high-speed rail expensive? 2、There are many types of hotpot in China. The beef brisket hotpot you eat is actually a Cantonese-style hotpot. The most traditional hotpot in Beijing should be mutton hotpot, the most famous of which is Donglaishun, but there are many small restaurants that also do a good job.
I live in EU. I just checked the train ticket price from amsterdam to barcelona, which has a distance of 1500km, costs 220 euro minimum, and takes from 16 hrs to 27 hrs. the fastest train takes 12.5 hrs, and costs 330 euro. so I guess 82 euro over 4 hours for a similar distance is just far too great? btw, just my own complaint, the price level in EU is now just stupidly too high relative to its income.
The direct distance from Beijing to Shanghai is 1050km, while the high-speed rail travel distance from Beijing to Shanghai is 1318km, and some tickets are available at a discount, such as an 87% fare.
6 hours and 1,000 kilometers, only 82 dollars, time is money. You said more than 200 euros, the same distance takes 16 hours, you spent more money and wasted ten more hours. Is it worth it?

The total area of more than 40 countries in Europe, excluding Russia, is less than two-thirds of China's, and its population is less than half of China's.
This 82 us dollar ticket from Shanghai to Beijing is for same distance (1318 km) from basically Amsterdam to Barcelona, so i really don't think it is expensive.....
Coming from a small country with ignorance of China, you have no idea of long distance and fair train fares. My morning train to London costs 53 dollars on regular train or 70 dollars on high speed train. It only 50km in distance
My city Zhenjiang is 75km away from Nanjing and the train cost is CNY 38 for a 20 minutes journey, CNY 27 for a 29 minutes journey and CNY 12.5 for a 50 minutes journey. The distance is too short, so the HSR doesn't run at its highest speed normally.

The railway distance from Copenhagen to Paris is comparable to that from Beijing to Shanghai, and most of the route is covered by ICE trains. However, it takes 14h and costs 360€. I don't believe you can find any train in the EU that travels over 1300 kilometers at a speed faster than ICE and is cheaper than high-speed trains in China.
China's high-speed trains allow you to order McDonald's food directly from your seat by scanning a QR code. No need to go to the restaurant in the middle to order. When you place an order using your mobile phone, McDonald's will deliver it directly to your seat at the next stop. China's high-speed trains are not only punctual, but also provide timely delivery services for food orders.
That sadly didn’t work for us foreigners. We have no Chinese SIM card and we couldn’t register without SMS code. We tried it and even ask staff of the train which said it’s not working for us.

After watching your videos, it looks like you're traveling on a really tight budget and don't do much planning. My advice is to make sure you eat and sleep well during your trip. Don't just stick to fast food and street snacks. Try some regular restaurants instead. Usually, the average cost per person is around 100 RMB, and the food quality is better and gives you a better taste of the local cuisine. Wish you a pleasant trip!
Thanks for the advice and concern, and yeah we travel on a budget seeing as we are still Students. So we try to keep our costs low, but we definitely want to experience the authentic food culture also in the good restaurants

From a Chinese perspective, knowing German is actually cooler than knowing English, Germany is always respected in China and the Chinese always consider Germany is the center of Europe and an important pole, you guys should be proud of your own language. As for Chinese, it is actually the most spoken language in the world, not just inside China, also in places such as Malaysia and Singapore, for the Chinese, unless they need to do business or go to school in English speaking countries, there is no need for them to learn English, if they wish to do business with the Russian, French and German, they would rather learn the native language in those countries instead.
I have been in Germany for like 20 times, every German train was late. 40 minutes late was not a big deal in Germany, I was just standing in the cold weather (like 0 degree) and waiting for a train for 40 minutes there. But some German guys were nice, they helped me to carry the bags even if I am a man. I guess I was just too small in Germany (1.80cm). I felt like every man in Germany were over 190cm tall.
I live in EU, considering the distance that the train covers, the ticket price is not high at all. Not mentioning its a high-speed train, not a regular one.
Shanghai to Beijing that is like travel from italy to Finland such a long distance if it was in Europe such as from London to Oxford which is only 30miles, it would cost you 30euro on UK train. But Shanghai to Beijing is more than 1000miles, it i only 90euros and you say it is expensive
@@zingwibrothers how frequently do you get that price for the flight? Is it the regular price? how long in advance do you need to get to the airport? How long do you need to wait for luggage? How long does it take to go to citycenter from airport? You need to take all into account. Chinese just prefer high speed railway for a reason. And i don't quite get why it is 90 euro for you, the price is usually lower than that
82 dollars for over 1000km , is that considered expensive? WeChat pay and Alipay both can book foods which delivers to your seat for next station, go figure it out
For us as students 82€ is objectively expensive. However of course the service and the offer itself is quite good. And thanks for sharing, next time we will try to book us some food over Alipay!
The distance from Shanghai to Beijing, is like from Wien to Kiel, 1000km. I just check the ICE price from Wien to Kiel, 90€(=97$), Fahrtzeit 11 St., and you have to change the train twice (zweimal Umsteigen!)

I lived in Germany for 10 years. Yes, you could get cheap flight ticket sometimes, I traveled to 15 European countries in 2019 and the flights were always under 50 euros. But the point is, the destination of these cheap flights is random. Of course, I really liked it as tourist, I could visit different countries whenever I found a cheap ticket. HOWEVER, the majority of the travellers are not tourist. Lots of people travel between Beijing and Shanghai to do business, and they could not wait for a random cheap flight. In this scenario, the high speed train is more "consistent" and "predictable". Chinese high-speed train network covers almost every big cities, you can go anywhere at anytime with a reasonable price, which Easyjet and Ryan could not provide :) Viel Spaß in China.
Don't understand why you kept saying China's high speed train is expensive. I went to France and Japan and experienced their high speed train. Considering the distance and duration, their price is more expensive than China's. And if you want a more affordable way to Beijing, you can choose normal train (train No. begins with T or D) to have a sleep on the train. And you can also save 1 night's hotel expense.
@@zingwibrothers if it's chealer in EU, speed or distance shouldn't be same. I said, there is cheaper train with slower speed, you just didn't choose. You can't expect both China high speed and India price.
Hey, my German friends, I’m glad you like China. As a Chinese person, perhaps I can offer you some travel tips: You made a wise decision to leave Shanghai at this time. Shanghai is currently experiencing the "梅雨季节 (méi yǔ jì jié)," which means prolonged periods of high temperatures and humidity that can be very uncomfortable. In comparison, the climate in Beijing is much better, though it is also quite hot here. The culture in Beijing is completely different from that in Shanghai. I suggest you try "涮羊肉 (shuàn yáng ròu)," which is a type of hotpot that only includes tender lamb and sesame sauce-it’s not spicy at all. Alternatively, you can try "炸酱面 (zhá jiàng miàn)," a traditional Beijing noodle dish known for its rich toppings and sauce. As for Peking duck, I don't recommend trying it at "全聚德 (Quán jù dé)" because it’s overly expensive and not really worth the price. Instead, you could try "四季民福 (Sì jì mín fú)" or "大董 (Dà Dǒng)." If you're up for a challenge, you can try "豆汁儿 (dòu zhīr)." This drink is similar to blue cheese in Europe, natto in Japan, or surströmming in Sweden. It's generally not accepted by Chinese people outside of Beijing, but it’s actually good for your health. Don't forget to buy some "西瓜 (xī guā);" during this season, watermelons in China are so cheap it feels like they cost nothing, and they are large and sweet-perfect for summer. If you have enough travel time, consider visiting more northern Chinese cities like Harbin, which is influenced by Russian culture-because southern cities are simply too hot. Hope you have a great trip!

@@zingwibrothers China is a large country, and each region has its own unique landscapes, cultures, cuisines, and rich history. I'm from northern China, but I personally love Guangzhou for its food-like the Guangzhou Restaurant and Teochew beef hotpot-Nanjing and Xi'an for their historical sites and food, Sichuan and Chongqing for their spicy flavors and culture, and Shenzhen, which is connected to Guangzhou by intercity high-speed rail. Shenzhen's a hub for technology and innovation, and it's known for its Reform and Opening-up, making it a great stop on your trip to China. Other awesome places include Xinjiang and Guilin.

@@zingwibrothers I recommend Beihai Park(北海公园), which is very close to the Forbidden City(故宫) and Jingshan(景山公园), and has a large area of water that I think is more beautiful than Jingshan. It only costs 10 yuan, and you don't need to see those high climbing attractions (Qionghua Island琼华岛 and Tuancheng 团城in Beihai), which will be tiring. On weekdays, there are very few people in Beihai Park. If you have finished visiting the scenic spots in Jingshan, you can just enter from East gate and exit from the North gate of Beihai, then take the subway (get on at Beihai North Station on Line 6, get off at Ping'an Lane on Line 6), and go eat Man Hengji (满恒记) Copper Pot. If you have already eaten hot pot and instant pork, Man Hengji can actually skip it. You can take a stroll in Shichahai (什刹海)at night. Besides, don't go to Nanluogu Lane(南锣鼓巷), as it is heavily commercialized, overcrowded, expensive, and lacks distinctive features. You can take a stroll in Shichahai at night.

Actually, it is common to order food on high-speed trains. People download particular app on their phones and sign up.They can order some food they want. Then these restaurants along the train station will prepare meal in advance. When the train stops, the crew will go to the platform to pick up food, and finally the food will be delivered to the seat.
Your videos are really good. As a native of China, I would like to recommend Qingdao to you. Qingdao is in Shandong province -the hometown of Confucius and has traditional Chinese cultural culture and there are many German cultures in Qingdao, because it was once the colony of the Second German Empire, and the beer here is very delicious.
Welcome to China! You are having the spirit of tourists! I am glad to see you have the courage to try various Chinese food with a very open attitude. I am really happy to see through ur eyes to look at China. It feels quite different. After watching your trip to Shanghai of the past few days, I am a bit worried though 😂. Because you ate Chongqing food all the way in Shanghai, didn't eat very local Shanghai food and no one can explain it to you, so I feel that you have wasted a little bit the opportunity coming there. Which is like "Went to Shanghai but didn't have Shanghai Food", could you get what I mean :P Such as... when the day you two eating breakfast-- Chinese White Congee is just in that way: water boiled with white rice, no any seasoning. It is like a base of other kinds of congee, so it's plain and no taste, or only the taste of white rice. But that's how some Chinese people like (for instance me😂 We feel it's fresh). But at the same time, we also have other many kinds of congee that cook with squash, thousand-year-egg and lean pork, sliced fish, eight cereals, yam... Those can be sweet, salty, sour, fishy and so on. Sadly no one introduce to you that you didn't buy the food matches your flavor. A little pity you did not get a perfect breakfast experience; Similarly, Steamed Buns(馒头, pronounces like: Man Toe)are made of grounded grain without any filling, generally showing smooth surface without folds. If want to have stuffing, Chinese people will choose to buy Steamed Stuffed Buns(包子, pronounces like: Bow Zi). Steamed Stuffed Buns have folds on the surface, that is the two you bought after, with meatballs and onions and thought they tasted delicious. They can be stuffed with different materials: spicy pickled radish, sugar and sesame, beef, pork, lamb, fried cabbage... different local small restaurants have their own different menus. It's just a way Chinese cooking food. Another kind of buns I feel nice are called Pan Fried Buns(生煎包, pronounces like: Shen Jam Bow). Some restaurants could make the surface super crispy and inside very juicy (depends on how the chef cook. You know, some chefs cook really good and some cook so so😂), usually stuffed with meat. So I feel if this way continues... you will eat unsatisfying or I mean, unexpected food. May waste money and not have a good travel experience 😔. Save the picture to look for the restaurants. I believe local people will glad to recommend you good places. If you're worried even the minimum level of spiciness might be too spicy, you can tell the waiter after you order, or you can carry a handwritten note with you that says this easy Chinese:【一点点,少少辣】 [Little, less less spiciness] The chef will also be happy to customize the spiciness for you. We often order in this way (like a secret menu) when we go out to eat, telling the waiter what u want and what u can't eat. I know that traveling in a foreign country is easy to be shy and embarrassed to communicate (I'm this kind of person haha), so I wish you can have a nice travel experience in China. Don't force yourselves to eat spicy if u can't eat. There are too many other non-spicy delicious cuisines waiting for u to have a taste. Especially I'm afraid that your stomachs would be stimulated to diarrhea lol. That's no good during traveling.
Forgot to say, the "Laundry Bag" in this video haha, it's for guests to put bags or jackets. FYI, China may build a 600 Km/hour home-developed Maglev line between Beijing and Shanghai in the not-so-remote future. If not, a shorter line is to be built around Guangzhou or Shanghai. It is high season now, and everywhere seems to be full of travellers.
i used to live in the new york metropolitan area, 34 miles/54km train ride costs $13 dollars, and the train is super slow, even the express takes 50 mins to get to new york city. the high speed train from shanghai to beijing is an absolute steal!

The distance from Shanghai to Beijing is more than twice the distance from Berlin to Munich, yet both trips take roughly the same amount of time. However, for the same distance, the fare for the German ICE is more expensive than that of the Chinese high-speed train...
I've lived in Beijing for about 15 years, and for Peking duck, I highly recommend "Siji Minfu" (Peking Chamber) which has many locations and the price is quite afordable. DO NOT go to "Quanjude"!!! In 1996 one of my bucket list was to fly from Malaysia to get on board the French TGV. It was a wonderful experience like in an airplane from Lausanne to Paris.
The restaurant you went to is a retro-style one. The chair you sat on is the red chair that many Chinese families had in the 1980s. I had one in my home when I was a child. The basket under the dining table is used to put the guests' coats and bags.
It surprises me also, High Speed Trains are now every where/every city just like subways. It makes us travel much much more easier. I didn't expect China can develop that fast.
The distance between Shanghai and Beijing is exactly like Paris to Vienna, in Europe, a train simply doesn't get you there 😂Oh Oh wait, they brought back the night train service, it's 15h, runs twice a week, costs €65-190. For the escalators, they're simply spoiled! I guess it's just once you used a smart phone, you don't go back to Nokia... In China, everywhere that there should be elevators and escalators, there will be some; hell even certain places that you think there shouldn't be, lol. But I'd take the stairs if my suitcase is not super heavy.
True haha, in Europe you do most things by car or plane. Although there is also a big train network. I think most people use the Interrail passes, if they want to go by train because you always cross through so many countries with distances like that😂 And as for the escalators, we also really enjoy them and got used to them quite quickly. We just found it funny, that everybody queued up and didn’t use totally free stairs😂

I understand you said that the high-speed rail tickets are expensive not out of malice, probably because China's subways, supermarkets, and food are very affordable, therefore the high-speed rail tickets are more expensive than you expected "Chinese prices". I have three points to say. 1. We have a cheap slow rail T109 from Shanghai to Beijing, which costs 22.5 euros and takes 15 hours. 2. Many Chinese think that high-speed rail is not expensive because there are some differences in life with Europe. In China, air tickets are usually more expensive than high-speed rail, and more costly than Wizz, and EasyJet tickets (probably because China's cost of purchasing aircraft is higher than Europe's). When you say that high-speed rail is expensive, Chinese people can't understand why and are not sure if you are malicious, so many people will cite the prices of railways of the same mileage in other countries to prove that China's railways are not expensive. 3. China welcomes you. Although you are happy in the video, I don't know if you have put aside your prejudice and embraced China. Have you noticed that the video thumbnails about China are always unhappy faces, but most of the video thumbnails about India are smiling or laughing?
I watched your previous video and you complained that Chinese people can't speak English. Sorry, can you give a reason why ordinary Chinese people need to speak English? China's land area and population are larger than Europe (excluding Russia), and there are more than 1.5 billion Chinese speakers in the world. English is not necessary for Chinese people. You complained about the high ticket prices of China's high-speed rail, which made me feel that you didn't compare it with the high-speed rail prices in Europe where you live. High-speed rail ticket prices are related to distance and speed, and China's high-speed rail ticket prices are about one-quarter of those in Europe. Of course, you are welcome to come to China and I hope you have a good trip.
Best comment so far. Thank you. Nothing to add.

Hey, my German friends,
I’m glad you like China. As a Chinese person, perhaps I can offer you some travel tips:
You made a wise decision to leave Shanghai at this time.
Instead, you could try "四季民福 (Sì jì mín fú)" or "大董 (Dà Dǒng)."
If you're up for a challenge, you can try "豆汁儿 (dòu zhīr)." This drink is similar to blue cheese in Europe, natto in Japan, or surströmming in Sweden.
I like your videos, please don't let aggressive and questioning comments affect your enthusiasm for traveling

Similarly, Steamed Buns(馒头, pronounces like: Man Toe)are made of grounded grain without any filling, generally showing smooth surface without folds.
I have lived in Shanghai for many years, but I have not been to Beijing, so I searched the Internet for recommended restaurants (Just for reference yet I didn't go to Beijing 😂).

What's more, you can search at night when u back hotel for what you want to eat next day.
Because the seats are packed, or some people may feel hot during eating, it's only a "locker" thing to provide conveniency to customers. Let them serve themselves, have clean space to put their personal stuffs.

Guys, the basket by table in the restaurant is not for food wastes but for your personal belongings to put in, like school bags, etc.

Very interesting video by you guys. Comment From China 😀
The facilities in Shanghai are pretty advanced even for us.
Thank you 😊
@@zingwibrothers OHHH YEAHHH!
We usually don't think high-speed rail is expensive, but most people think that the food on high-speed rail is expensive and not delicious. The food in scenic spot too.
If the money is not enough, it would be better to prepare food before go to the high-speed rail and scenic spot. In fact, many people do this, it's okay and very normal.
China is more technologically advanced than most European countries.
Although the content of this video is somewhat controversial, you two brothers are really funny,i like watch this kind of video
Welcome!😊
*loads of love from Bangalore ❤❤..love you so much guyss*
I agree. Although your budget is very limited, but it shouldn't limit your mind. Be open minded and fair to China!
FYI, China may build a 600 Km/hour home-developed Maglev line between Beijing and Shanghai in the not-so-remote future. If not, a shorter line is to be built around Guangzhou or Shanghai. It is high season now, and everywhere seems to be full of travellers.
Yeah the maglev train looks absolutely amazing, would love to ride it as soon as it’s build on a wider scale!

Most welcome! More to come!
The blogger may not know that the backrest of high-speed rail seats can be adjusted, and the seating space should still be acceptable for Chinese people. The bamboo tower where we eat is used to store clothes and backpacks for customers. Wishing you a pleasant journey 14:09
You don't have to go to dinner coach. Just scan the QR code on your armrest, order food, it will be delivered to your seat, including KFC and MC (they will be prepared and boarded on the nearest stop)
That one didn’t work for us, we have no Chinese SIM card so we couldn’t get a SMS Code. We even ask the staff of the train, she said it’s not working for us.
@@zingwibrothers What a pity. To have a local sim card with cashless payment will definatetly change the life style in China. Enjoy your trip in Beijing anyway.
1:00 yes, HSR are super popular and they do get booked out quick . The western economists and journalists thought they know China by criticizing China's HSR over capacity back in the days.
The distance from Shanghai to Beijing is more than twice the distance from Berlin to Munich, yet both trips take roughly the same amount of time. However, for the same distance, the fare for the German ICE is more expensive than that of the Chinese high-speed train...
German ICE is shit. rarely punctual and sometimes cancelled.
Enjoy your trip 🎉🎉
A small suggestion: Do not buy food on trains or scenic spots in China, as prices there are always much higher.
I've lived in Beijing for about 15 years, and for Peking duck, I highly recommend "Siji Minfu" (Peking Chamber) which has many locations and the price is quite afordable. DO NOT go to "Quanjude"!!! Half duck is enough, no need for the whole duck. 2. try some other classic dishes, such as "Bao Sanyang"(爆三样 tender pig liver, kidney and meat) , "Congbao Yangrou" (葱爆羊肉 mutton fried with onions), "Kung Pao Prawns"(宫保虾球 must with cashew nut !!) 3. if the waitor ask you which way do you want to cook the duck bones, remember, choose "duck soup" (鸭汤) !!
行家呀😂
That basket is used for you to put your cloth and bags into it. The seat is very old style for memory purpose.
Cool, we like this type of local and traditional restaurant types
Less than $100 is expensive? How poor are you guys?
It’s called students 😂 sorry for being on a budget 😄
If so, go do your homework. Basic research will show you there are trains from Shanghai to Beijing cost less than 40 euros, with more time on the train of course. And there are night trains which can sleep to Beijing, saving hotel cost too.
@@zingwibrothers you should stay in india then, cheap
@@zingwibrothers You are fking liars. Even if you are a student, it is normal to spend 80 euros on an ICE trip in Germany. From Shanghai to Beijing, 1,300 km, 300 km/h, a total of 82 euros. You think it is expensive, I doubt whether you as college students, have ever learned elementary school mathematics.
@@zingwibrothers that's not the excuse you used the word" expensive ticket "
In 1996 one of my bucket list was to fly from Malaysia to get on board the French TGV. It was a wonderful experience like in an airplane from Lausanne to Paris.
The restaurant you went to is a retro-style one. The chair you sat on is the red chair that many Chinese families had in the 1980s. I had one in my home when I was a child. The basket under the dining table is used to put the guests' coats and bags.
Thanks for sharing, it had a really cool aesthetic!

The distance from Beijing to Shanghai is about over a thousand kilometers, which is equivalent to traveling from Berlin to Rome
Take business class next time,it will blow your mind
We go first class next time!!! But then we bankrupt I think 😅😂
It surprises me also, High Speed Trains are now every where/every city just like subways. It makes us travel much much more easier. I didn't expect China can develop that fast.
The distance between Shanghai and Beijing is exactly like Paris to Vienna, in Europe, a train simply doesn't get you there 😂Oh
Oh wait, they brought back the night train service, it's 15h, runs twice a week, costs €65-190.
The distance from Shanghai to Beijing is 1318 km by train, which is nearly 300km longer than Paris to Vienna by train (1034 km).
True haha, in Europe you do most things by car or plane. Although there is also a big train network. I think most people use the Interrail passes, if they want to go by train because you always cross through so many countries with distances like that😂
And as for the escalators, we also really enjoy them and got used to them quite quickly. We just found it funny, that everybody queued up and didn’t use totally free stairs😂
可以买普通火车的硬座160元人民币,硬卧票280元人民币,便宜。一趟22小时31分钟😄

Not sure about calling this expensive - it’s a fast speed train, and it’s an exceptional product. It’s very good value. You could take a sleeper train for much less if on a budget.

The train ticket is quite affordable, covering a distance similar to traveling from Moscow, Russia, to Berlin, Germany.

Thank you for showing the real China to the social media and I think you know that why Chinese don’t use English in their normal life because we have our own system and don’t need to attach others system
I still think American train stations are the best in the world because I cannot bring myself to admit that China is much better than the USA.
Just checked the shinkansen price from Tokyo - Kyoto. 475km. Usd160
哈哈,到北京了就去尝尝烤鸭咯!
