The Rumour is the thirteenth studio album by Olivia Newton-John on 2 August 1988. The title track was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, features backing vocals and piano by John.

This is one of my favorite Olivia songs. I remember in 1988 seeing her HBO special about Australia's bicentennial and seeing all of the Rumor songs. Couldn't wait for the album.

Hey Empress, I knew that you would not like the production on this song. I love ONJ's vocals, I like this song, but I too do not like the production for the same reasons you stated. I do enjoy the song overall though. Had to get through some of the major songs on "The Rumour" album. Now moving on to songs on the "Soul Kiss" album for the New Year.
