I was 7 years old walking up to the Montgomery Wards cashier with a copy of the Love Gun album. It had just been released. I wanted it because the cover was so cool. Little did I know that album had some of the very best songs of all time on it.
Oh man, this is great! For some reason, I've been binging hard on (lol) Kiss lately and this puts a fresh spin on these stories. Really well done and alot of fun. Cheers!
I too have been on a KISS binge. And it has been intensified by having just seen Cheap Trick in St. Louis. Now I need to see Aerosmith again. This KISS stuff is amazing.
Ace has mentioned several times about having written countless songs for KISS, however he has stated that he hid a lot of them to use for himself on including his solo album and Frehley's Comet. The demo on Revenge is a clear fact of this as the Carr Jam '81 is Breakout in which Ace and Carr both wrote and was used on Ace's second solo album and given to Tod Howarth to sing.
Ace Frehley has a great solo album repertoire and enjoys legendary status as a Gibson- Les Paul virtuoso in my opinion. I like all the members of Kiss but I think all the slander against Ace and Peter are exaggerated and unnecessary especially at this point in rock and roll history.
Paul can't speak of anyone else without finding a loophole to insult them through. Even when he compliments someone, he ends it with an insult. Miserable human being. One of the greatest frontmen and songwriters, and also a massive musical influence on me. See what I did there? I insulted him, while finding a loophole through which to praise him. Maybe he wouldn't seem so miserable if he simply put his comments in a different order...? 🤷🏻♂️🤘 ACE! 🤘
Here in the Mid-Atlantic region we are having a freeze out. Been busy with busted water coils and boilers. The only thing keeping me going is the thought that it's possible that Paul Stanley has seen one or more of these videos showing him crying the blues.
You can't deny that "KISS" from 1976-1978 were the biggest rock band in the world. I'm lucky I got to see the original four! ACE won the battle of the solo albums...ack! Paul was right that they weren't better than Zeppelin, also proving that he wasn't on drugs and self aware of their musical limitations.
I have realized nowadays it might be better to see cover bands such as Mr.Speed play rather than see KISS today. Personally I’m a fan of the original line up. Aces solos and peters breakdowns. They are aging respectfully but cover bands try to recapture those glory moments, I’d love to see that.

How do you get to that? Paul is a rhythm guitarist. Ace is a lead guitarist. Why would you be jealous of something you chose not to be? People who constantly need approval no matter what form, tend to nitpick those they see as inferior. Example, actor wins multiple awards. Not enough they have to try singing. Stanley's not wrong re Frehley and Criss being less than world-class musicians. I never understood how anyone could put Frehley in the same company as Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Rhoads, EVH, Beck, Vaughn, etc., nor Criss in the same company as Bonham, Appice, Paice, Collins, Moon, etc. Criss only makes the top 3 of KISS's best drummers because KISS only had 3 drummers (officially). Were the session drummers included, he'd be way down the list.
@@adamrenfrow Neither Criss nor Frehley have ever been great musicians. Also it seems to me that people keep forgetting or overlooking the fact that Paul and Gene both had said many times that they didn’t want Ace and Peter to quit the band and on numerous occasions had talked them out of it.
