I have always made chicken fried steak with a similar recipe, but never used corn starch before. Fun fact: Steak fingers (or rather finger steaks) were invented in Boise, Idaho in a gentlemen's club called "Milo's Torch Lounge" (now named "The Torch"). The inventor, Milo Bybee, created them because he had leftover tenderloin scraps. They are a staple food in Idaho, with many local burger joints and diners serving them. DQ is one of the few places that serve them with gravy, as most serve either fry sauce or cocktail sauce.
One of the most disappointing discoveries you'll ever make is that the steak finger basket isn't available at most DQs outside of Texas and nearby environs. The chicken fingers aren't bad, but the steak is better

Good idea. I rub bread in my pan to soak it all up and make toast. Great for bacon and eggs and not waste anything. Bacon toast has a different, cleaner flavor than butter. When I butter, I swear by kerry gold.

Kent, I love the fact that you provide "Craft Services" for your dogs! And yes, I actually watched the Bobby Flay episode when you beat him, when it originally aired.
When I make gravy, I like to use the seasoned flour that I coated the meat with. In a white/cream gravy I use white pepper instead of black. I'm hungry for chicken-fried steak and gravy now. 😋
I was really hoping that someone else did this too. It seems to be a huge waste to not use the leftover dredge. I mean, it's already seasoned and everything.
Yesterday I was looking for something to do on my Pitboss griddle, and I had some tenderized round steaks thawed, so I turned to the RUclipss for an idea. I have cooked many of Mr. Rollins recipes and they are always as delicious and easy as he makes them out to be. So I figured, why not try these on the griddle rather than in a pan. Well, except for the fact that they took a little longer to cook, they turned out amazing. So if you are looking for something simple to make as a snack for the family, and you love cooking on the griddle like I do, this recipe is perfect. As for the oil, I generally use avocado oil on my hot plate. Most folks will agree that there is a low spot on their griddle, so I used that space and squirted on about a half cup of oil to start and spread it around in that corner, let it get hot, and laid the fingers on. I added a small amount of oil as needed and used my silicone spatula to push the oil around and towards the fingers, sometimes basting them like you would a fried egg with a spoon and bacon grease. I turned them fairly often so they would brown evenly. Two pounds of round steak took about 20 minutes to prep and cook, start to finish, and are now a family favorite. Give it a try and let me know how it worked out. Thanks for all your great videos, Kent!
As a retired Navy veteran, I appreciate the closing of your videos. I remember when the Vets were returning from Viet Nam and the way they were treated, a period of shame in America.

Thanks Kent, Made these tonight. It's been a year or so since I had homemade cfs. I chop a quarter onion in large chunks and fry with my steak. I still can't get my gravy right but that's to be expected when I only do it every year or two.
Everything I've cooked in this unit has come out great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB ! Everything tastes so good. Some of the recipes I've changed a little to improve the taste. For instance, for french fries which call for no oil, I spray them with olive oil and season them with salt and pepper. They come out great! It makes the best toast I have ever eaten. The recipe I use calls for lightly buttering both sides of the bread. It calls for cooking at 400 degrees for 5 minutes on one side and then 2 minutes on the other side. This time has a lot to do with the kind of bread you are using...so keep an eye on it. Also, the fans in this Ninja are a lot stronger than other air fryers. So lay a metal spoon or something on the bread to keep it from flying around. It's a little extra work to use your Ninja as a toaster but it is worth it!

deep frying apparatus, i been using a big ole wok, the shape gives me a savings on oil.and works wonderful.
BTW your reaction to the bite means everything to me. most days i can't tolerate even a bite of my own food. i taste the sauce and meat as i go and then i'm done, no room for one more bite. i live for reactions to my cooking. my guys are going to be dancing too
Good idea. I rub bread in my pan to soak it all up and make toast. Great for bacon and eggs and not waste anything.
Bacon toast has a different, cleaner flavor than butter. When I butter, I swear by kerry gold.
The gravy use to be Sooooo much better before they went to the water-based.
Great video Kent!!!
The last time I was this early in the comment section, gasoline was still under $2! Thanks Kent for helping me make a decision for dinner! God bless!🇺🇸
Kent we just wanted y"all to know that we are so glad we found y"all on U tube. My family and I look forward to All your new content but enjoy watching your older videos as well
Over a year later and I'm barely finding them gem of a video. Love the content!
I have never heard of steak fingers and never been to DQ. I can't wait to make this. Thank you.
Kent makes me hungry when I'm full! Their is nothing in this world that says love more than awesome food. Home cooking is king, and Kent is the man!
OH MY GOSH! I have got to try that. That crunch sealed the deal on that!
Kent I just have to say you are a treasure.! I Crack up watching you and love the food. But your stories are the best part of these videos. So keep up the hard work it's appreciated. Thank you. ❤️
This guy always manages to put me in a good mood
No he doesn’t
@@DaddyNoNotThereIAmTheRapeBabyya he does
Today,I went down and bought some tenderized gravy steaks.Made my wife and I these steak fingers. And LOVED them.Yum.Thank you sir.
@@holleyhillfarm I started doing that a while ago too. The guilt of dumping all that flour in the trash used to keep me up at night.
@@holleyhillfarm Yeah whatever flour is left from the breading goes into the gravy
"the crew is fed now," God bless you and your people. 💯
Thanks for watching and God bless you
Man ... the best part of this video was that crunch. Has to be the best accidental ASMR I've found yet, makes me hungry.
Crunchy, crispy fried goodness

If there's a dinner menu in Heaven, gravy is on it.
I love rice smothered in a nice white gravy.
True. Can't go wrong with moray or hollandaise sauce either
@@nathanielsizemore3946 everything is better smothered in white gravy I'm pretty sure I could eat a boot if ya put gravy on it lol
I’ve made a lot of Kent’s recipes and they have all been so delicious. This one is right up my alley! I’ll be making it soon.
I love this man! He cooks like I do! “That’s about 2 cups” no measure required!
EXTRA fresh dance routine on this one, Kent. Those steak fingers look got-durn delicious, I'm definitely going to try this recipe. Thank you for all that you do!
Thanks Kent, Made these tonight. It's been a year or so since I had homemade cfs. I chop a quarter onion in large chunks and fry with my steak. I still can't get my gravy right but that's to be expected when I only do it every year or two.
Greetings from Finland! Had fun watching this and tried the recipe out. Very nice indeed 👍
It's a little extra work to use your Ninja as a toaster but it is worth it!
this is the first time ive ever seen you or one of your videos, and i love how you explain everything! its so easy to understand, and you had my mouth watering looking at these! i love steak fingers, i NEVER cook, and im definitely interested in trying this at home! they look incredible
They are so good and we hope you enjoy
Wow I had Gravy when i was travelling in the states with breakfast and truly loved the stuff. Didn't know it was such a simple thing to make! Plus i got a twofor with some great looking batter to make crispy chicken and some of those stake fingers with. Love that! Saludos from Spain amigos.
I’ve never heard of steak fingers but this sounds so good and I can see us having these with the gravy and some scrambled eggs for breakfast!
They are delicious with scrambled eggs! We'll eat steak fingers with every meal here in Texas lol 😆
@@lucasstrough6493 that sounds down right delicious!

Ah man, I've eaten these things since I was a kid. They are great. You've been missing out.
Some country fried steak (or steak fingers) and eggs are a Texas staple!
When he started doing the rollin dance I couldn’t hold it in I started to laugh my behind off
My dad to me DQ in Louisiana when I was kid one Summer. I had the steak fingers, and they were good.
You had me at "gravy."
I'm a southern boy. Gravy goes on virtually everything, from scrambled eggs to fried chicken and mashed potatoes.
for me gravy isnt a topping or a batter, its an "everything sauce" just like bbq
@@smokinwoodz I need to try whatever gravy has you guys like this, sounds delicious
This has got to be one of the best cooking shows of all time
It's about time the world has a true cowboy chef who really knows what he's doing! I just hit the subscribe button and am trying the amazing recipe now...
I love your dances and your jokes, but my favorite part is when you take your hat off to our brave soldiers. Thank you!
Thanks for watching we owe them so much
