THQ really wanted Ratatouille on every platform under the sun. Including MacOS and GBA which at the time were dying platforms to publish games on. I'm surprised Microsoft still allowed publishers to continue supporting the original Xbox in 2007 since they were in a rush to get rid of it.
I love looking at end of life console games. They often look really amazing when compared to early generation titles. Developers have had years of learning hardware and come up with lots of tricks to squeeze performance out of them. Those late Madden games look way better on the same system than say Madden 02
Late gen xbox 360 titles like GTA V and MGS Phantom Pain look pretty good even to this day. Even more true with the PS3 - GTA V runs and looks identical to the 360 version yet GTA IV has an inconsistent frame rate and runs at a lower resolution than the 360 version
@@creed8712 It did, got a copy on my RGH console, a surprising amount of cross gen titles that you wouldn't expect released on the 360. Dying Light itself almost made it over but the devs couldn't bring themselves to nerf it enough so it was XB1/PS4 only.

I was in technical school in Toronto when the OG Box ended. A couple of late releases that ended up being personal favorites were Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Mortal Kombat Armageddon.

No mention of Just Cause? LOL This timeline is super nostalgic for me as a started my first job at Gamestop in Spring 2006. Seeing all of these games on the store shelves, and experiencing the transition from Xbox to 360 was incredibly interesting, along with customer complaints about the 360 games just looking like Xbox games in HD. Even if MS had sorted out their issues with Intel and Nvidia in creating cheaper, revised Xbox systems (a la PS2 slim), cutting the Xbox early made sure their beast of a first console wasn't cutting into the sales of the 360.
I remember finding Madden 09 for the collection and feeling like i found a gem, never thought itd be over a sports game haha just the feeling of having the last game released for the console. Great video dude as always of course
Fun fact - madden 09 has a hidden madden moment mode from Madden 05 and Madden moments were planned for 04 as well and possibly 06. Lots of left over code in old maddens and assets ported over from pc that bloat Madden and progression.
I wish FIFA 07 was on the list. Truely the last and best soccer game ever released on the XBOX. The manager mode is the main highlight of FIFA 07 as you build up your own team against others, signing contracts and hiring coaches to enhance overall chemistry. Also, the OST sugercoats the feeling and atmosphere of the game.
If you think they were pushing it with Madden 09 on xbox, consider that they went all the way to madden 12 with the ps2! People were still releasing roster updates for it up until basically last year

I've never seen Ratatouille, so I s'pose I never really acknowledged the existence of the game, but thinking about it, I love the idea of a game where you play as a rat, doing rat things. It's a style of game I always thought should be done more often.
Ratatouille is one of my childhood games, even if you play it as a random game is pretty good (so as a tie-in is freakin' GREAT), especially the old gen version (the one I played on pc as a child): the game is also infamous due to being released on pretty much EVERY PLATFORM available at the time (it's actually the image on the "port overdosed" page on TV tropes 😂), and if releasing on the Xbox in mid-late 2007 was strange, the game also released on the GAMECUBE (with the PAL release being exclusive to France).... To quote TV Tropes: "Anyone can cook, AND ANYONE CAN PLAY THIS GAME."

@@DP12321You can actually blame Nvidia for the death of the original xbox. They didn’t allow for die shrinks or any deals to reduce prices over time unlike most other manufacturers. So the xbox gpu and motherboard never got cheaper or more power efficient. Also Nvidia is generally annoying or terrible to work with.
Of this list I played both Madden 08 and Superman. With Superman, I enjoyed the flying mechanics, especially breaking the sound barrier, but I agree the game wasn't fully flesh out. I'd like to see a modern adaptation keeping the 'spirit' of protecting the city but giving superman his own health bar. There are plenty who can give him a run around plus we cannot forget kryptonite.
I have never played any of those games, but King of Fighters Neowave definitely piqued my interest, I'm surprised I never heard of it considering I'm a fan of the franchise. It looks kinda weird, but I like it. That reminds me I still need to get a physical copy of SVC Chaos too, aka SNK v Capcom. I do have the Capcom v SNK 2 EO, didn't know this console had a port of it back in the day as I played this on ps2 back then. The big difference in EO is that there's like an analog stick motion that activates the ridiculously complicated super move combos.
The OG still had so much life yet to give, It would have been nice to see where development could get us. Maybe people will make games for ogbox one day

Picked up all these CIB Crimson Skies-3.54$ (had to pick this up after seeing it on the stream) Star Wars KOTOR- 7.47$ X-Men Legends- 8.97$ Prince of Persia Two Thrones- 7.68$ Oddworld Munch’s Oddysee- 3.47$ Doom 3- 4.47$ Not sure if these prices are competitive since I’ve just started collecting at the beginning of 2024. But yeah! Have fun everyone
That ear of Xbox and Pc GPU hardwares were very under-utilized thanks to PS2 being the lead platform. Games that made use of normal maps almost looked as good as 360 and ps3 era games. Normal maps were one of the best thing to happen in graphics.
This 100% So many multi-platform titles were lazy on Xbox. Luckily, the GTA Double Pack, and the Splinter Cell games are prime examples were the effort made a massive difference on Xbox.

Lot's of minor ones like Spongebob had enhanced materials on XBOX, and were also 60 FPS like the Gamecube. Harry Potter titles were also optimized well. Another example is XIII, great shooter. Lots of cut down maps on the PS2 version in multiplayer and performance is piss in story mode; XBOX version blossomed.
Crazy how they went from more than 100 games releasing in 2006 to only 5 games releasing in 2007 and 2008 combined. Meanwhile PS2 kept getting games until 2013. Though lets be honest, they weren't getting anything but scraps past 2009. The last notable games on PS2 were probably Silent Hills Shattered Memories and the Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow port in 2010.
i remember playing the living hell out of the superman returns game on 360 growing up. this version looks so much more bland and weird. maybe im looking at the game through rose tinted glasses now, since im 20 and i grew up playing it when i was like 5, but i remember having a great time on the 360 version.
Man 2007 and 2008 were bummer Years for OG Xbox as it mostly sports games released with ratatoullie being the only stand out OG Xbox Title from 2007, it would atleast be interesting to see OG Xbox releases like "The Simpsons Game" "Sonic Unleashed" "Sonic Riders Zero Gravity" "The Legend of Spyro The Eternal Night" and "Godzilla Unleashed" all ports from the Wii/PS2 Version of those Games BTW.

Nooot...really. the 360 version "looks" better, but just in terms of effects. In terms of performance, it's actually the worst performing version of the game. The game isn't better either, it's literally just the same game with a fresh coat of paint. But I will admit if you think this Xbox version looks rough, the PS2 version looks WAY worse. This was definitely one of those games that showed the power difference between the PS2 and Xbox.
the success of the ps2 is summed by xbox pretty much immediately giving up releasing games when the 360 came out and the ps2 releasing console exclusive games up to 4 years after the ps3 launch
Sad that such a great system was already being wound down after just 4 years on the market. That's got to be one of the shortest lifespans for a major game system, after the Dreamcast and GBA. That there were other consoles with weaker software and hardware, which lasted much longer, rubs salt in the wound. Though I can't stay too mad about that part, as at least those systems still got some worthwhile games, and that's ultimately still a good thing!
The xbox cost too much to manufacture, MS would lose money on each console sold due to the hard drive, the Intel processor and Nvidia graphics making a loss of about $200 on each unit. That's why MS opted to sell the base model 360 without a hard drive and why it used a Power PC processor that used in order execution (less instructions per clock cycle compared to intel)

Why can't they just make a young superman that's discovering his powers, then when he's older just have an all out powerful superman that the player needs to make sure doesn't destroy the city to catch one bad guy. Maybe have a meter that indicates how much the people love you or hate you. Destroy too many buildings and of course people won't like you regardless of the master criminal u took down. It can be done. It should be done.
I had no idea that Superman Returns was part of the original Xbox I used to have the Xbox 360 version I never did beat that game because I got stuck on this part where you have to protect blimps be hey Superman games suck anyway so hopefully one day we'll have a good Superman game and to date this was the last Superman game that was made
Neo Geo games used to be considered high quality. Then all the mini collection and mini arcade releases. So KOF and etc used to be quality carts. New generation just don't know. Lol

Not surprised the last game is a sports game. That’s usually how it goes with dying consoles. Those games are cheap to make and easy moneymakers. But it is funny to think someone still only owning an original Xbox and buying Madden 09 when people were already massively playing stuff like Halo 3 and COD 4 by then on the 360.
Splinter Cell Double Agent (Fall 2006) was THE swan song for Xbox. Best version of the game, still playable on modern Xbox.

Nooot...really. the 360 version "looks" better, but just in terms of effects. In terms of performance, it's actually the worst performing version of the game.
The game isn't better either, it's literally just the same game with a fresh coat of paint.
But I will admit if you think this Xbox version looks rough, the PS2 version looks WAY worse. This was definitely one of those games that showed the power difference between the PS2 and Xbox.

the success of the ps2 is summed by xbox pretty much immediately giving up releasing games when the 360 came out and the ps2 releasing console exclusive games up to 4 years after the ps3 launch

Sad that such a great system was already being wound down after just 4 years on the market. That's got to be one of the shortest lifespans for a major game system, after the Dreamcast and GBA.
That there were other consoles with weaker software and hardware, which lasted much longer, rubs salt in the wound. Though I can't stay too mad about that part, as at least those systems still got some worthwhile games, and that's ultimately still a good thing!
The xbox cost too much to manufacture, MS would lose money on each console sold due to the hard drive, the Intel processor and Nvidia graphics making a loss of about $200 on each unit. That's why MS opted to sell the base model 360 without a hard drive and why it used a Power PC processor that used in order execution (less instructions per clock cycle compared to intel)
Fun fact about Ratatouille it's the only game for all the 6th generation and 7th generation consoles play ass there's a PS2 version an original Xbox version Nintendo GameCube version Sony's PlayStation 3 version Xbox 360 version Nintendo Wii version Game Boy Advance DS and PSP version and Mac and PC

Why can't they just make a young superman that's discovering his powers, then when he's older just have an all out powerful superman that the player needs to make sure doesn't destroy the city to catch one bad guy. Maybe have a meter that indicates how much the people love you or hate you. Destroy too many buildings and of course people won't like you regardless of the master criminal u took down. It can be done. It should be done.
to be fair, this superman returns game had a sort of similar idea. instead of just superman's health, it also had a city health bar.

I had no idea that Superman Returns was part of the original Xbox I used to have the Xbox 360 version I never did beat that game because I got stuck on this part where you have to protect blimps be hey Superman games suck anyway so hopefully one day we'll have a good Superman game and to date this was the last Superman game that was made

Neo Geo games used to be considered high quality. Then all the mini collection and mini arcade releases. So KOF and etc used to be quality carts. New generation just don't know. Lol
PS2 held Xbox and gamecube back limiting them to ps2 style graphics
I played both versions of Superman Returns & Ratatouille, and the Xbox 360 versions of both are way better!!

Not surprised the last game is a sports game. That’s usually how it goes with dying consoles. Those games are cheap to make and easy moneymakers. But it is funny to think someone still only owning an original Xbox and buying Madden 09 when people were already massively playing stuff like Halo 3 and COD 4 by then on the 360.
