THUG2 is my favorite skate game, really captures the early 2000s. Jackass vibes. The sound track has a blend of genres that fits with the times. I can see why this isn’t everyone’s favorite but being born in 1996 I am very fond of this game and what it represents.

Best I remember, the soundtrack also had The Power of Equality by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Whiplash by Metallica, Sonic Reducer by Dead Boys, Midlife Crisis by Faith No More, etc. The soundtrack was right up there with, if not slightly better than, GTA’s licensed soundtracks.

Back when Tony Hawk’s was THE skateboarding franchise, Underground 2 is one of my favorites. I remember playing it with my brother and some of our cousins on the PlayStation 2, i miss those days. Great video.
I'm currently uploading the whole game for my channel and soon starting American Wasteland and going on to play every entry after it, I've always loved THUG2 for it's continued impact on skate culture through the early 2000's and the zany antics of the jackass crew within the game. THUG2 will always be a game i think of when I remember games from my childhood along with 007 Nightfire,GTA San Andreas,Dynasty Warriors 5, Shadow The Hedgehog to name a few. (i'll be playing some of them on my channel too)
I played every THPS from their release and I'd say this fell in a weird spot. Adding pressure flips made a difference for me as a skateboarder but the unrealistic cartoon vibes of the side missions and story to appeal to Jackass fans clashed. But the gameplay itself is as refined as it could get. And there were some awesome levels. I love this channel. Every vid you post theres something I have some sort of memory of. Like Raze's Hell and THUG 2 in the same short time
Thug 2 and AW are my favs. When I was younger American wasteland molded me into who I am and now that im older I love Thug 2 for the fun goofyness and perfect engine.
I share the same exact experience, this game was a giant part of my childhood and I play it once a year for a bit of nostalgia just to feel something. I also do this with Gun, Resident Evil 4 and True Crime

I was the perfect demographic for this game when it came out, I remember that me & my friends played this game so much it started lagging. And I still love this game, takes me back to a simpler time when all we did was hanging out, skate, played video games and Jackass & Viva La Bam was the coolest sh*t ever.
THUG 2 is the best in the series imo. First Underground is a close second but there's something about the second one I love more. The soundtrack being a big part of it
I always wanted to skate with bam and the crew, so this was (and still is) a hit for me. Introduced me to so much music, like Johnny Cash. I recently played through underground 2 again and agree, it holds up.

This game is in my top ten video games of all time. My favorite Tony Hawk game after THPS4 and THPS3. My favorite licensed music sountrack for a game. My favorite levels of all time. My favorite version of Warehouse that they've remade so many times now.The vehicles are forever dreadful but luckily you can do most of their goals as a skater. I'm currently trying to 100% THUG 2 remix running ppsspp.
Out of curiousity, if you're playing and recording on the Xbox, what do you use to record? I have an older model Elgato that I can use on retro consoles but it won't get this clean of quality footage. I mainly use Xemu emulator on PC or backwards compatibility on my Xb360 if I wanna record OG Xbox titles nowadays, but wouldn't mind recording the genuine console. Great review btw, THUG2 is my 4th favourite in the series, THAW, THUG and THPS4 are my top 3.
Glad you liek the review. I use an elctron x-out for an HDMI adapter on my Xbox and then that is connected to my elgato which is a newer 4K model, but I'm not capturing in 4K.

Yeah, the early to mid 2000’s was definitely appealed to the raunchy and edgy teen demographics with the Jackass references you made. I think THPU2 definitely works in giving it a different flavour than 1 even if the story aged as well as expired milk. Very curious about American Wasteland and especially Project 8. Didn’t even realize that was on the OG Xbox when the 360 was out and was the major system back on 2006.
I got the first THUG on PS2, never played it. And I have the rest (2x, 3, 4) on OG box, but I mostly played Tony Hawk 1 on N64 when it was new. But, check this out... I have Tony Hawk 1 and Tony Hawk 2 on N64, Tony Hawk HD remix on XBLA, Tony Hawk 2x on Xbox and Tony Hawk 1 + 2 remake on PS4. That's 4 versions of the same 2 games. What the heck, eh?
Definitely the best gameplay wise how they flow as you're able to do goals at your own pace without having to ask around for goals like you did in THUG1 and THPS4. The story however all depends on who you ask and your tastes which is understandable. Neversoft may or may not off gotten the freeflowing goals without a timer idea from Aggressive Inline which had the same progression THUG2 would later have.

I remember loving Thug, I was 10 when that came out. And then we just got cable, and when this game launched..... I remember having so so much fun. This was easily my favorite Tony game. I loved Bam, I loved the crazy stunts. I've heard people disagree, but I think it was a GREAT move from the team to just go wild, crazy and funny. A jackass themed pro skater was such a good opportunity and they did not let that opportunity go to waste. A cultural moment right here. I totally agree with you, it is better than THUG 1 Edit: Also, I don't think Nigel is REALLY the villain, Bam is the villain Edit Edit: Also, ThugPro is great, but, it's basically THUG2 with all the levels for playing online. I think for your taste, Camp, you will like the mod RETHAWED more. It is a similar project, porting all the past games content to American Wasteland. But the advantage is they implement a lot of the single player content and objectives as well, rather than it jjust being for multiplayer
3.23 it says hdtv, 780 P. incredible that we had hd consoles already in 2001, but gamecube wasnt sadly and i had that growing up, but i know ps2 could have 1080i. for instance, grand turismo 4, go to setetings, then graphics- from 480p to 1080
I personally use an Electron X-Out and that goes into my El Gato for capture. I know the captured footage can look better than what's on my TV, but it's just TV picture settings. The Xbox is just a smooth console when running a game like this at 720p.
Removing system link from this game was criminal, all because Microsoft couldn't stand XBConnect and XLink Kai. XBOX LIVE was a total hit at the time, a cash cow for them..... this game didn't even support it. (So why even still remove it out of greed?) Haram.
I like thug 2 but it was the begining of the downfall. Caveman was even easier so the difficulty was low. Levels were good but it's not in my top 3 tony Hawk game.
As a thug fan its refreshing to hear someone say they're a thug 2 guy cuz i get it fr game is soooo awesome all the thug d riders tend to just hate on it but then also praise AW its just so weird lmao

My Honest review Underground 2 at its time was Bigger than ever. But now as a 29 year old, I now feel like this was a downgrade from the ground breaking Underground 1.The Story Mode for 2 felt shorter than Underground 1. It seemed that they only felt the need to make it aesthetic as possible with the graphics and details weather from the menu or the pause menu. Some memory could have been put more. Growing up through the Mid 2000s MTV had a string of success with reality TV with Jackass and Viva La Bam, Bam was at his peak making this game a sort of “Viva La Bams Underground” with using the blueprint for the Episode with the Scavanger hunt pitting team of Bam vS Hawk. A few moments that shocked me growing up was The First Storyline Elimination ( Literally someone that could of been the Pippen to Hawks MJ incase things go haywire), a short but fun mini rivalry (with who I fondly consider one of the most hated character in a video game ln the 2000s) with Eric Sparrow,(heck the game doesn’t even acknowledge thier past history, like it didn’t even happened)the last mission to cap the end of the game I didn’t even enjoy it, the final mission in THUG was more satisfying (especially finishing the game twice). Overall I still prefer the Story and vision THUG was pushing rather than the MTV esque version of THUG 2 I’ll give this a 7.5 out of ten

Never made the connection to Aggressive Inline which is a great game.

Are the goals in the pre-made parks Xbox-exclusive? I’ve always played on PS2 and those parks only have unique gaps, but no goals.
