I use comedy all the time and it doesn’t indicate healing at all. The humor is and always has been a coping mechanism. People get offended that I think r.@pe jokes and cult jokes are funny. Oh well.
@@JaneThatcher89 It is said that people need a lifetime to heal their childhood trauma, I doubt it. In front of the trauma,Many choose to face and solve it with brave ways rather than forget it, which is the process to heal, when people could embrace the new life, I suppose people are healed. Anyway, different people think differently and I respect yours.
@@YokeeYang I agree with Jane in the sense that humour is often used as a coping mechanism so I don't believe it to be indicative of healing. Lots of people use self-deprecating humour to cope. I agree with you in the sense that I don't think people necessarily need a lifetime to heal but it can take that long. For some, it never happens. I wonder what you consider facing and solving trauma to mean. Some don't forget it per se, but rather compartmentalise it or use other coping mechanisms because it would be too painful to deal with it and they need to be able to function enough to survive. On the outside it can seem like they've moved on but there isn't a way to tell for sure beyond the person telling you themselves. I'd say it's rare that things turn out as well as it has for Juston but I'm glad he seems happy and broke the cycle with his kids.
Juston...I have followed you for about 30 years since I saw you at Horsefeathers in Conway. I have heard many of these stories presented in different ways, but this is a gem. Thank you for sharing, and for helping so many people with this raw exploration. Bless you! ❤
wow thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I just saw you for the first time last week in Newport. You were great! My family life is thickly coated in alcoholism, and I lost my 30 year old son this year to it. I need comedy, so thank you again.
That was the best Ted talk I have ever listened to, I brought tears to my eye that soon were running down my cheeks. Maybe I can relate thank you for sharing with the world what many of us in this generation lived through that had a huge hand in making us who we are and who we're not. God bless u and good job to ur dad.
One of my favorite comedians. You didn’t have to do that Ted talk about your dad. My respect for you has risen even more. You are an honorable man. Thank you for sharing something so personal to you❤️
this was one of the most profound speeches I have ever heard. straight from the heart. funny at times, heartbreaking and heartwarming at others. I got chills multiple times. there is so much pain in this world, so many bitter and tragic endings; how wonderful that this incredible man shared an indisputable example of the power of love . bless you
Loved this talk and reveal of his life with his Dad. Many of us would be reminded of similar events but have we the same outlook as Juston? This was impactful.
Hands down what a great performer 👏Ted talks🤩 Best way to heal from trauma laughter.😅😂Very emotional, funny, best way Put the fun into trials tribulations of family.💗
1. When life gets tough, staying strong and keeping going helps. 2. Being aware of our thoughts and actions helps us break bad habits and turn weaknesses into strengths. 3. Having hope, forgiving ourselves and others, and getting second chances makes us stronger. 4. Support from family and friends helps us grow and stay strong. 5. Improving ourselves and celebrating our successes makes us more confident and resilient. 6. Overcoming addiction takes courage and help, but leads to better health and happiness. 7. Being kind and understanding turns problems into opportunities. 8. By taking control of our lives and staying positive, we can overcome challenges and become stronger, wiser, and happier.
I make jokes from all of the trauma I experienced from my dysfunctional childhood also; no one believes me that my dad would get me out of school to help him sell drugs because he had no idea how to weigh out the product 😂 good times !

That was great and very honest!
When one could talk about his childhood trauma in comedic way, that means he has been healed. Thanks for sharing.❤
