Nice build, I add a 12in Turkey fryer thermometer 1 in below the rack and use a heat deflector (disposable Turkey size aluminum foil pan) to even the temp on the rack out. I've been building and cooking on drums for like 7 yrs absolutely love them. Looking forward to seeing your future cooks on it
Sorry bout that. There's several different ways to make a charcoal basket. I might make a quick video and show how I did it. The grate are just 22.5" Weber grates
Hello, building a UDS for the first time. As far as the inside of the barrel, I burned out the barrel one time but the liner looks like it bits left at the bottom on inside and a little paint in two sections on the outside, will I have to burn it again or can a sandblaster finish the job inside the barrel? Thanks in advance.
Either way will work. If you have access to sandblast it, that's the easiest way. It can several burns to get it all, but a good sandblaster can get it all and remove all the paint on the outside in less than an hour. Hope this helps
It's easy. You just open and close the valves on the bottom and close off the hole on the lid. Or you can use a Weber kettle lid. They fit perfect! Thanks for watching!
I'll look and measure again tomorrow to make sure, but I believe the intake holes are 2" off the bottom at 90° intervals. The grate bolts are spaced on the same 90°. 6" and 9" from the top

Very cool Eric, I’m addicted to smoker build videos, can’t wait to see what you cook first
Thanks Steve! I'll try to get that video edited and uploaded by Tuesday!
Very kool UDS, nice build Brother 😎

Oh its great! If I have time tomorrow, I'll edit and upload my first cook on it!
That's a cool build sir. Nicely executed.
Can’t wait to see the first cook on it.
Nice build Eric - welcome to the UDS community
Great Build Eric ...looks good brother
Looks cool thanks for the tip to burn it out before painting.
Nice looking drum. You will love it. It is a great cooker. I love mine :)
Cool UDS man!
Very cool brother. Great job.
Seriously awesome 👏
You know I was wondering how them were made. Now I know. I may apply some of this to mod my Barrel Cooker
Nice UDS! :-)
Thank you
Awesome! My first choice in pit cooking! Love it!! ✌️
What’s the purpose of the third hole at the bottom? Other than using the unit as a grill, I can’t see needing a third inlet.
You know, I've never used it. In the future, I'd probably skip that step lol
You used the exact same color scheme as I did on my uds I built about a year ago... it looks like we have the same handles too
Picked up the handles at Lowe's... They were cheap and a decent size!
Mighty fine UDS bro. I would love to build my own. But you have to have to the right tools first. :)
nice build, but you dont mention how to build the charcoal basket or what grate your using.
Sorry bout that. There's several different ways to make a charcoal basket. I might make a quick video and show how I did it. The grate are just 22.5" Weber grates
@@RoundhouseRanchBBQ nice!
Excellent!
here in the UK they only have 45 gallon drums, 205 litres, could this be made with this size ???
Absolutley! I would think the measurements would be fairly close to the same, as well
It might be a little more difficult to find gates to fit. The grates I used are standard Weber kettle grates.

Thanks alot
Love it!
Oh yeah that's going to be nice
It's awesome! It really holds temps well... thinking about making another one lol
I’m new to this and I want to make one but how do you regulate temperature on these. I know this is a year old.

What are your measurements for all your holes again

That's what I'm talking about.......Sand Blast It!!!!! \m/
