The thinness is one of the main reasons I want it.
Same. Just held one yesterday, but it honestly felt kinda weird in my hand.
Nothing I wouldn’t get used to, but palm swells would appeal to a larger amount of people if I had to guess
I have one. I like how thin it is. I'm 6 feet. Comfortable for larger hand
Same here! Thin, light, and FAST!
Damn, right
Okay I'm sold,Thanks
Excellent video. The narrow grip fits my hand perfect. I guess there's no one size fits all. Being too thin is always better than being too thick. You can always make the grip thicker, but you can't make it thinner.
Most shooters now are used of Glock ergonomics. AKA 2x4 for a pistol grip. This thing isn’t any thinner than some high end 1911s I’ve held
The “most people wont concealed carry a pistol this size” gave me a good chuckle.
Yeah we know he's all full of shit for a RUclips video
I like the narrowness, I'm 140 pounds, very thin, and this gun is currently my normal conceal carry.
What holster?
Any attachments? And what holster if so?
Holster?
Black rhino concealment
excellent gun for those of us who want a self defense gun but are sensitive to recoil, I must agree definitely the best 5.7 on the market
You just.
Got to watch out for the overpenetration, Like a child in the background? = Will result in. those pesky county, state, and federal prosecutors Getting involved...😊
Nothing wrong with the grip on that pistol. You may not like it, but that's nothing more than personal preference. I think it's the best of the recent offerings in 5.7x28mm semiautomatic pistols.
I mean this video is all my opinion. I can’t give anyone else’s opinion because I don’t know you all.
PSA ROCK has far superior grip
@bustabass9025 thats the whole point of this video. He is sharing an opinion based on personal preference. You suck 😂
First, you do not need ATF approval to transport silencers across state lines. You need ATF approval to transport machine guns and SBRs, but not silencers. See ATF Form 5320.20 and the ATF's FAQ on interstate transport.
Second, the 90% of grips too large for my hands drives me crazy. Stock AR-15 grips are literally the only AR grips not uncomfortably large for my hands. Some of us search high and low, the world over for small grips. You can glue padding to the sides to fill up your sasquatch hands. Please let us enjoy the rare occasion when a manufacturer comes with a grip size other than gigantic.
Great video. Much appreciated!
Agreed. Fixing a too small grip is simple compared to the opposite.
Great review, this is the next addition to my collection. Something you might try is fingerless gloves with padded palms. They will help fill the gap on the grip and being fingerless they do not affect the trigger feel. Again great honest review.
I own the original FN 57 and have always liked it. I haven’t shot this new Smith & Wesson, but I did handle it at the store. I have medium-size hands and my feeling on the grip was just like yours. The trigger seems phenomenal but the grip just feels weird in my hand. We’ll see how it feels when I shoot it. Thank you very much for the video.
You are very welcome, thank you for watching. I agree it does feel pretty weird. I just got my Hogue grip in yesterday and put it on so we will see if that helps. I do like my original FN but I would like to have the new generation one as well.
@@gearrunner yeah, I would like to have a new generation FN as well. Just waiting for one to come in to my local shop. Looking forward to the follow up on the Smith and Wesson.
Nice review. I'm sure you will get the grip sorted out. On a funny side note, I do think I know a guy that will probably edc one if he gets it: He used to carry a .50 DE, crossdraw IWB w/a holster he rigged up from a nylon shoulder holster. Rock on! 🤣🤣🤣
Now that’s a huge edc
You can bring Suppressors out of state without prior notification to ATF. However, you cannot bring the SBRs or SBS out of state without prior ATF notification
I was thinking all class 3 items were under the same laws. Thank you for letting me know.
@@gearrunner yeah, i just found this out like a month ago. I originally thought like you did.
Free men dont ask permission
That dumb as shit. You already paid the extortion fee
Jimmy Johns has freaky-fast delivery
Thank you for this video. Clearly, the 5.7 offers minimal recoil. I must strongly consider acquiring one in the near future.
The skinny grip is the one reason I chose the P365 XL over the shield plus...
Nice honest review. I really want to check out this pistol. I have medium size hands and the wider pistols have always been less accurate for me. Thank God RUclips doesn’t consider that a banned video. Lol
How does the Hogue grip on it feel, ergonomically without shooting it? This was a great video, I’m getting ready to buy one but after what you said, not without fondling it first :)😮 thank you!
Great review. I'm eager to try this one. I'll say my S&W shield plus is similar with loading the mag. Tight with the slide closed but no problem with slide open.
Your grips are the same as mine with Ruger57. Which I managed to fix with the assistance of a Hogue slip-on sleeve then I took a piece of scotch brite and jammed it into the inside of the sleeve increasing the palm swell. After that, I did the old baking soda super glue trick in order to lock everything into place. It works better than I originally anticipated because I enjoy riding the safety with my thumb. I would post a picture but this (RUclips)platform will not allow me to post a photo. Cheers
Grip sleeve, problem solved, im excited to try one, I’m thinking it would be fun, problem I see is 5.7 ammo kinda pricey
Looks like it has great mechanical accuracy.
Thank you for the info sir ! 😊🎉🎉😊
There's a reason why most 5.7 gun have adjustable sights. Different bullet weight with shoot drastically different. Low, high, to the left. It's not like 9mm where different weights aren't thaaat much, Still combat accurate
Great review. Is the recoil less than a 380 acp pistol?
Was excited when I heard about its release. Saw one at a gun show, once I picked up in the hand was very disappointed. If you hold your phone sideways is about how it feels to grip this gun, felt like my finger was awkwardly hanging out when gripping. Would like to see a little palm swell when they come out with the 2.0.
That thing is so flat!!! Wow! Would be great if it got enough popularity for someone like icarus to do a grip module for it.
That would be awesome if they would make a grip for it. I did order the slide on grip so we will revisit it when that comes in.
Im 6ft 0.4in I weigh 134 and it fits my hand like a glove.
This gun just perfect and sooooo accurate
I like the fact that you dont need a booster for a suppressor on this, definitely unique
I do like that and it’s crazy how quiet it is suppressed
Curious if you’ve noticed any accuracy issues when suppressing this gun? Since it looks like the can mounts to that external tube rather than the barrel itself, I’m curious how that affects consistency of POI shift?
@@mikefranklin54 i don't personally have one
@@gearrunner
Is that even with supersonic ammo?
I’ve got the Mask HD as well, and I’m probably gonna buy this particular 5.7 on Monday.
I think hes just punching the trigger. The gun is top of the line and price is great.
I fixed the issue with a grip sleeve. So I don’t think it was my trigger control.
Totally agree with you on the how the grip feels, maybe they will change something with a future generation. Not going to hold my breath though.
Bought one last Thursday, in part because my recently released from jail suppressor is compatible with 5.7, I don't have big hands so it fits me fine, granted I haven't shot it yet. Do wish I would've looked it over closer because in the crappy lighting in the sporting goods store I bought it at (surprisingly for less than what I could find it online) I would've noticed that the coating on the back of the slide is over coated or some debris was on the slide when it was applied, minor but lacking QA is lacking QA, my M&P 2.0 Compact OR had its own QA issue with a stripped screw in the optic cut cover but I took care of that myself, can't exactly fix the finish, so I might be sending it to Smith and Wesson to look over. Not a huge deal but $700 (after taxes) is $700. Wish I noticed it in the store, might've gotten a little discount out of it.
That ammo cost though, even online. Hopefully with the increased popularity, the NATO adoption and increased production, it'll go down a lot.
Great review man
Thank you, and thank you for watching
My bezel that’s attached to my barrel does not screw off it looks like it’s molded on? I have a brand new 5.7 Smith and Weston. I never used it before I did disassembly correctly and assembly correctly but the bezel doesn’t screw off for some reason, but it shows me it can do it in the picture.
Are suppressors illegal in the state you’re visiting? If not then you can bring your suppressors across state lines without any paperwork. It’s SBR’s that require a form 5320.20
I thought any class 3 had to have paper work to cross state lines
@@gearrunner suppressors and AOW’s are exempt from the form 5320.20 requirement. As long as they are legal in the state your are traveling to you are good to go.
www.silencershop.com/blog/post/traveling-with-a-suppressor
@@drewhenderson13 thank you, I did not know that
Suppressors are legal in TN and NC. I use to live there and travel to Johnson City every weekend so I know
They should make it a quad stack mag if it's not wide enough
I just bought one and loaded my mags and had the same issue fitting 23 in. I’m afraid to slam the mag hard so I’m just letting the full mags sit until I go fire it this week. When I was loading one mag, the spring gave and and I could turn the mag upside down and shake my rounds out. Hopefully letting them set full will break the mags in. This is my first Mn’P and I’ve read about other spring issues in mags. I’m hoping all goes well at the range. Where can I find accessories? Is the optic rmsc rated for anything?
22 and one in the pipe… I hope you didn’t try to slam a extra round in the magazine
Just grabbed one today may do a vid on it, didn’t watch many reviews; just saw it and wanted it… will say a bit disappointed with the mag not seating issue and also had the follower stick quite a bit at first. Mags definitely need rounds through them to work properly
Might want to think about trying to slip a Pachmyar rubberized grip sleeve on it.
I put one on it about a week ago, been really busy this week hope to test it Sunday
I like it aesthetically and the "gas system" is great. However the slide bite I'd get based on the thickness of my hands prevents me from purchasing it.
I haven’t had any slide bite yet but my hands are pretty skinny
I had to tap the mag pretty good to get it to lock in with 22 rounds, a lot like on a rifle but that’s just my experience. I don’t mind the thinness of it, my previous edc was a Taurus PT1911AR and that was a pain to carry open or concealed. This M&P is crazy to carry and I can barely tell it’s there. I have pretty decent sized hands and my right hand only contacts at the front and rear of the grip but I’m getting used to that. 1911s have a fairly thin grip as well other than the grip panels that work as grip swells so it’s different.
I conceal the ruger, I’ll conceal this (the tempo rotating barrel is amazing along with the gas system and the long slide it has no recoil at all, less than the alien, almost like a .22LR!
Have you had trouble with mag catching on the mag release when seating the mag ? I give it a nice push and it goes right in , but it’s definitely catching on the inside of the gun, catching on the mag release button
I have had a few issues with inserting magazines. It’s hit or miss though. Sometimes they go right in and sometimes I have to slam them to get them in.
Ive been having problems with mag feeding ammo called coustomer service sent me new springs for both mags waiting to see if that helps. Ammo falls out of mag rounds jam in mag and i had to hit the mag ammo jam to clear jam not good. Heard a lot of shooters having this problem.
I'm not a lawyer, but you might want to check with one because I BELIEVE that you should be able to cross state lines with your suppressors as long as you have your NFA paperwork on you. Don't quote me on that and definitely do not do it without consulting an lawyer with NFA expertise, but as I understand it, only SBRs require specific permission from the ATF to cross state lines with, unless there are some additional state laws to worry about.
Agreed. I'm going to build up the grip with Talon grip tape. I have smaller hands and as a result it fits me better. Also, it's my most accurate firearm. My preferred use for it will be home defense, not carry.
One thing to be careful for: slide gets really hot. It will burn your thumb if not careful.
I'm happy with my PSA Rock 5.7✌️
PSA makes a fantastic 57.
Yup, when mags full you really gotta man handle it.
Hogue grip or mcnett camo form wrap fix's the grip problem for bigger hands , used camo wrap for years on certain pistols , I never wanted a 5.7 til this came out
Brand new owner just ran first four mags through my gun. Loaded one and left it overnight. Other than that everything was straight out of the factory out of the box. I did notice it looked like someone had taken a sharpie to the tops of the followers… Not me. Could be some additional QC inspection mark? Anyway, I’d say that the mag problems that I read about before I purchased seem to be fixed, at least on unboxing.
Reminds me of my DBX57 with the narrow pistol grip.
I have 3 fivesevens. I thought I would like the thinness of the S&w but I found it uncomfortable. The usg fsn fits me the best
I conceal carry a PSA Rock 5.7 so I'd probably carry that too. I like slim pistols. Just not happy with S&W right now.
Edit: the PSA Rock holds 24+1, even though the mag says 23. You don't even have to fight with the mag to get the 24th round in, and it has no issues seating or feeding properly.
and the grip feels way better than the M&P
I have the 22 wmr and I put a rubber sleeve on my grip made a huge difference.
I mean with how awkward as that is, how hard would it of been to adopt side panels or something to shape it more. That trigger legit close to a Rival? I have a rival and haven't shot anything with a trigger close to it
If I’m not mistaken it’s a internal sao trigger which is very light and smooth.
Please put your NEW sleave on the grip and give us another video; if you notice a difference in your accuracy??? Thanks😉👍🇺🇸
I put the sleeve on yesterday. I’m hoping to make it back to my range one day this week.
@@gearrunner Excellent, look forward to your update video👍🇺🇸
@@cccalifornia7206 hopefully next week
Interesting very interesting.
Got my Hogue grip sleeve in yesterday, so we will re visit it soon
The grip thing just sounds like a personal issue. The gun design itself seems incredible, and I hope it gets torture tested to see if locking bolt/gas slide is reliable for handguns
Beretta has been making the locking barrel for years I don't know if they make a gas operated handgun.
@@user-qs7rm6kt7m Beretta? Who said anything about Beretta??
@@Codeman785 Just saying Beretta has used that system for years it's a proven design. The locking barrel is nothing new as I said I don't know about gas operated.
@@user-qs7rm6kt7m well this is a video about s&w 5.7.............
@@Codeman785 So you just want to argue talking about a locking barrel in a hand gun has nothing to do with the fact that the video is about the 5.7 so have a nice evening and consider our conversation over with.👍
I really want to get an M&P 5.7 to try my 5.56 suppressor on. Since the threaded barrel doesn’t move then it should be able to handle the weight of a rifle can.
I would think so as well
my 5.56 can works on mine little front heavy
5.7x28 doesn't require a booster assembly
@@virtuaguyverify not on this barrel is fixed
the PSA ROCK feels far better in hand, but the trigger on the M&P is far superior.
I hated the M&P grip at first but after a few weeks it didn't bother me anymore.
My issue was that the mags couldn't be fully loaded without it binding up and dumping half our rounds out of the mag.
At 6:40. I am interested in seeing your video on how ti use the mag loader. Good review 👍
The magazine loading and mag seating gets better after about 300 rounds.
Did u use the PSA 5.7?
What about the optic, what type of footprint has , does it come with the plate?
It has a Holosun 507K footprint because the slide is so narrow.
Nothing against S&W at all, however, I do like my Ruger 5.7. What I don't like is the price for 5.7 ammo!
The Ruger57 has the same issue, the grip is wide and thin, I have big hands so I had to add a Hogue grip with a Glock grip sleeve with the finger cut aways over it, I even had to put squares of neoprene under these grips to thicken it up
If you carry a glock 19 then you can carry the m$p5.7, theres only like halve an inch that the 5.7 is longer but because its skinnier it fits perfectly on my lap. I always carry the 5.7
Is this something that could be fixed by adding an adapter onto the threads themselves?
Have you tried the PSA rock you might like it better
I got 1 a few days ago and the spring on the mags don’t push the bullets and the mag is difficult to push into the gun so I’m very disappointed
Do a review with the grip sleeve.
I did
Video made me want it more
I got the same weapon and I have a large hand but I get a pretty good group with it I don't think it's the narrow grip it might be your anticipated the wiggle just be chill with it
The narrow grip is a reason for me to want it. I have small hands. I am just guessing that it would also be more comfortable to carry. Just think of the Sig 365...also narrow.
And, it shoots flat. All good.
Looks like a good purse gun👱🏻♀️👜
I've seen several reviews of the S&W 5.7X28mm on You Tube. In every case the gun has shot to the left. One tester believes the cause is because of the grip, which causes the hand to twist the gun slightly to the left.
I have a video where I put a grip sleeve on it and it fixed my issues with that.
that's my problem with the stock P365 grip.
way too small to not rotate in your hand or have a correct length of pull.
I’m Definitely Looking To Purchase A 5.7 To Carry Looking For My Best Option Your Video Was Very Informative
Trigger is pretty nice and seems to function well. But have you noticed how sloppy the trigger is side to side movement in the frame?
I haven’t, I will have to take a look at mine.
So, you're saying operator error is the main problem? 😇
Degrease it and break out the two part epoxy and make your own custom grips. You can thicken it and sand or rasp it to shape. Sleeves shift, not a fan.
My biggest complaint is the price of the ammo. I can shoot a .308 for the same price. And the ammo is a bitch to reload
BTW, I had a problem seating the mag the first time, too. Then I seated the magazine in a manly fashion. Manly, I say. Manly.
Which one is heavier ? The Fn or Mp ?
How is the trigger on it ? I shot the Ruger57 before and the trigger was very weird ,long pull but same no recoil and slim/wide too
The trigger is phenomenal, on my gauge it pulled 2lb 13oz
@@gearrunner that's light wow 2lb
@@fmj8329 yep, I think I have a photo of it on my IG
@@gearrunner the Ruger57 trigger was something else... reliable gun I'm not going to trash it either but weird pull good video dude 👍
@@fmj8329 I’ve not had a chance to handle one of those yet. And thank you
The grip narrowness is to accommodate the longer rilfe-shaped round. If it had a wider grip you wouldn't be able to get your hands around the grip to reach the trigger. This is the case in every 5.7 pistol and has been known for decades. 🤷
Not true! I put on a hogue grip that increased the width of the pistol and filled in my palms. I shoot this pistol way more accurately now. My FN Fiveseven is also quiet a bit wider than the S&W.
@@gearrunner Great! For the 90% of girl sized hand havers that's not really necessary.
23 shots in a pistol without extension
Was about to say look's like TN/NC border area, I'm watching from Johnson City.
So color ammo is self defense for 5.7 ?
Trigger guard stopped my purchase its extremely small and hopefully the gen 2 improves this
The Ruger is narrow also.
I found that the Ruger was much more comfortable and i didnt like the fact that the pin came out like the Pmr 30.
I dont like loose pieces in the field.
So on that note i picked up the Ruger for my Girl because the pmr 30 is unreliable.
She is not good at manipulating the pistol when there are problems.
I wear xl gloves don't have long fingers just thick but this grip fits me just right you look like you got much longer fingers an with the lack of palm swell might be over compensating by not putting as much finger in the trigger your shot pattern looks to me as if your trigger finger is pushing the gun just a hair when you pull the trigger. Try putting alittle more of your finger through the trigger well. Say if your using the tip of your finger now try it with it right before the crook or the finger see if it pulls it back to the right alittle. I know when your use to a certain grip set up like fatty palm swels an a beefy grip an you drastically switch up to how narrow that mp 57 it can be the smallest things that can throw you off but yeah this thing is byfar my favorite handling gun flat shooting at range accurate as hell no recoil an the mag I found is easier on everything to load with the slide back too I don't like having to slap it in so hard.
Don’t be like me n try too dismember this wit the clip loaded, 😅 u will definitely be reminded when you pull the trigger to release the slide, almost lost my palm , but nun more then a Graz n a nice pinch out my pointer finger, I was distracted an shouldn’t have been handling it wit out my full attention cuz shit got real fast

I have them both the FN and M&P. I have had a failure to feed after 2 rounds in the smith & Wesson. The magazine needs a recall it sucks so far idk maybe it’s just mine but I’m using fn ammunition could take the issue
Which one is heavier ? I’m more worried about the weight before I purchase my dad had the Fn 5.7 for 10 years now and I’ll shot it plenty of times. But I just can’t stand the fact of how bulky it is.
Who wants a fat grip handle ? It’s made to carry. It’s supposed to be a thin profile. Definitely A good truck or home defense gun💪🏼
A comparison exit speed of the bullet is needed vs ruger or fn due to gas operated
All the smith and wesson handguns i have owned had a notorious tightness they haven’t been broken in give it a month or 2 and the magazine tention will fix itself
I have big hands. i just bought the .45 verison. I wanted the 10mm. But they dont have a threaded option for them factory. I do have a ruger 5.7 wish it had a threaded barrel factory
Try wrapping that grip with para-cord as an experiment. I think you'll be amazed.
hardly any muzzle jump niceee
It’s very flat shooting
I put one in my hand and noticed the trigger guard was way too small for my large hand
Im the rambo guy who will try to conceal carry this🤣🤣🤣 1:31
Narrow allows you to dominate the gun. Some grip tape would help certainly.
Wrap some layers of Teflon around the handle to widen the grip
