    I have some suggestions:
    1. The CGM is a method that is sulfate free and silicon free. Since you are doing low poo or no poo, you may suffer hair loss because of the buildup on your scalp.
    2. Also, Function of Beauty is known for hair loss.
    3. You have 2a/2b type of curl, but you have thin hair. I have 2b type curls and thick hair, so we can't use the same products. Take in consideration your thin hair. Some products are too heavy for your thin hair and it makes it difficult for your hair to curl. A cream or a mousse is light enough for your thin hair.
    4. Remember the protein/moisture balance.
I love your hair update videos because a transition from straight to curly is a path of patience, knowledge & trail and error. I see your hair videos because I'm conscious that I don't know it all, and I've learnt a lot from your videos as well. Good luck girl. You deserve healthy luscious hair!!! ❤️

If your hair is continually parting in the same spot to the point of making your scalp visible, it just sounds like a regular cow-lick (not sure of the English word) to me. Your hair has been improving in health and you've been allowing it to fall naturally for quite a while so I'd say it's actually just your hair behaving as it should when not heat styled or forced into a certain position. It's also a very common spot for a cow-lick so I don't think it's something to worry about.

eln I put deep conditioner while in the shower and just rinse it out. I sometimes leave a little behind to keep the moisture. Other than that, I’m really simple - shampoo, condition, something to leave in (either an actual leave-in conditioner just the left over conditioner) and a styling product (if I’m leaving it out and curly). I don’t really style it much or anything, I kind of just let it free. Lol

Het girl! I have similar hair to you and have ben doing CGM for like a year-ish and I have some advice!
    1) Us wavy girls don't have a super strong curl pattern and it gets easily weighed down by build up. Try doing a "reset" wash every 3-4 time you wash your hair, use something WITH sulfates that with take all that product from Weeks of applying out of your hair. This tip was a HUGE turning point for my hair!
    2) Best sleeping tip I've found is a bun - flip your hair over and scrunch it up the way you would if you were applying product, hold those scrunches against your scalp, and secure them with a silk scrunchie, this will hold your natural curl pattern in place. It's usually kinda big and floofy in the morning, but falls to a more wearable volume in like an hour.
    3) I've recently been experimenting with "plopping" and I love it, check out this method for drying/setting your waves
4)Brushing! If I brush my hair wet it stretches out and make my waves/curls awful! I know every curly girl thing ever says to never dry brush, but it might be worth a try. The only time I brush my hair is right before I wash it. I give it a really thorough detangling and THEN wash and style it, this was the also a GIGANTIC turning point for me, it completely changed my hair texture.
    5) Layers! It looks like you have some light layering in your hair, but consider getting it a little more dramatic. This will take the weight off your lower curls and let them bounce up so much more. I know cutting it is dramatic, that's why I pit this last. Take some time to consider it and maybe research hairstylists in your area that specialize in textured hair haircuts.
I know how frustrating it is the first few months! I cried over my hair so many times. I REALLY hope some of this advice helps! And PLEASE feel free to dm me if you have any questions!!! GOOD LUCK!

I have found that a braid helps me keep the waves defined. Idk I'm just trying out wavy hair myself. Do you brush your hair regularly or juts before a wash?

    • @ashleyraujol2780
      @ashleyraujol2780 4 года назад +3

@@Moonlight-op4qo Only right before i wash it. So like once every 5ish days. Besides that I just fluff and smooth it out each day...I also tend to go from wearing it down and pretty day 1&2, to doing more elaborate styles to hide the growing asymmetry on my head lol. Braids work great fir some people too, fo me they stretch out some of my curls.

I recommend a sulfate wash for anyone even with curly hair. I use a sulfate shampoo once every month or two on my curly hair cause my hair is fine and gets build up easily. If you want a powerful sulfate-free shampoo tho, I recommend Shea Moistures ‘Activated Bamboo Charcoal & Purple Moonstone” shampoo.

Black girls and anyone else who has had naturally curly hair (3a-3c) for years were usually tormented for it. I had gotten a replacement formula for the shampoo and conditioner last year but it was extremely drying and making my hair fall out too even though my hair is straight/wavy and I chose deep condition, hydrate, and anti-frizz. I thought it was the color dye or the fragrance (the mild is still really strong). But idk. I think a lot of their ingredients are derived from coconuts and my hair doesn't work well with coconuts, unfortunately.

Just wanted to start off with the fact that I am not an expert, nor do I claim to be, just an enthusiast who is really enjoying this series :) The hair thinning is a thing that happens when people start the curly girl method and I don’t think it comes from the way you are sleeping with your hair, it may be a sign of build up from not clarifying with sulfates (gasp) at least monthly and only putting moisture on the issue, as opposed to proteins. I am a big believer in cgm if done safely and when you said you felt the shampoos you were using did not feel cleansing enough and that you now alternate between the previous non-foaming cleanser and a stronger line, a light bulb kind of went off that the hair loss could have began before you started alternating shampoos and you are now just beginning to fix the issue. I definitely hope you keep using the castor oil and find the rhythm that works best for you!

Okay so I have wavy hair and when I first discovered this I tried the CGM...it was a big disappointment my hair got even more frizzy and flat. I decided to stop using the CGM and went back to using silicon and a clarifying shampoo every month so that I properly get rid of the silicon on my hair. And my hair has never been better it’s amazing and soft and bouncy. I truly believe the CGM is not for everyone and silicons and sulfates are not completely evil, they can be great when used properly. So if you are struggling with your hair/curls and you are using the CGM ooo should look into the curly community that doesn’t use the CGM

You shouldn’t say people shouldn’t use them, we all have a very diverse hair
Maybe hair loss wasn’t from the product? Maybe how you used it or it was from something else?

Your hair is looking better every video! It's definitely a difficult journey to transition those waves and curls, but I really think you're on the right track and hope you stick with it! I do have a few suggestions that might help:
    1) I think the shampoos and conditioners you're using might be too heavy for your hair type and aren't clarifying enough. Buildup on the scalp can cause clogged follicles that lead to hair loss. There are some "low poo" options that lather and give hair a really clean feeling. I would also recommend using a scalp brush to really cleanse your scalp properly. Gently massaging/scrubbing the scalp can help stimulate hair growth as well. And try to clarify every 3-4 washes with a sulfate shampoo to really remove that buildup!
    2) I wouldn't really recommend Shea Moisture products given your hair type because a lot of those products can be very heavy. They do have a Jamaican black castor oil line which I've tried and somewhat enjoyed, but it smelled like playdough and I still thought it was a bit too heavy for my hair. I would look into Not Your Mother's Naturals which are great and also affordable.
    3) You can definitely style your hair right-side up. I think adding a leave-in conditioner and a curl cream would really help add definition to those waves. Make sure to add all products to soaking wet hair and brush through to distribute evenly. Then scrunch. Also if your hair is thin/fine, you might get more out of a mousse rather than gel. Definitely section your hair and try different methods until you find what works best! Rake & shake, scrunching, finger coiling, denman brush. So many options, but you always want to make your your hair is properly saturated with water and product.
    4) I HIGHLY recommend checking out RUclipsr Manes by Mell who is a professional hairstylist. Her hair is a lot curlier than yours (and mine), but I find a lot of her styling and diffusing tips have worked wonders for me. PLEASE watch her diffusing video. Total game changer. She also has videos on how she wears her hair in a bonnet to bed and refreshes in the morning which I think could benefit you.
    5) I would be careful with some DIY masks. "Natural" does not always mean better, and some of those ingredients can actually be harmful to your hair in the long run or just not sit well with it. Particularly aloe which can cause flash-drying in the hair. There are a lot of great curly girl approved masks that really add hydration to the hair and are formulated for that specific purpose. Not Your Mother's has a great one, as do several other brands!
Hope some of these tips help! :)

I started my hair journey in March when quarantine just started.
My hair was terribly damaged from being bleached and colored. With the help of your videos, lots and lots of research and the right products for my hair I finally was able to make my hair stop breaking off right at the roots.
Next week I'm getting it cut to collarbone length and hopefully my hair will grow back a lot healthier and thicker, just like your hair did 💕

Hey! I have wavy and fine hair and have just started doing the curly girl method. I have been using an aveda gel mixture that I make myself and I do also refresh my hair everyday when I want to style it down! I use plan water and soak my hair till it looks like it does when its just been washed and I use a leave-in or an oil serum after I've soaked my hair with the water. I scrunch it both after putting the water on and the serum or leave-in on and I 'rake' my hair while applying the oil and water. The pineapple hairstyle you're supposed to do has never worked for me and so I just leave it down and style it everyday and it's been working perfectly well. If your hair is struggling to keep definition, try putting more protein in your hair more often. I've been using a sulphate-free protein rich shampoo and conditioner by Nak (its called Structure Complex I think?). I started off with just putting moisture in my hair and then started to have issues with what is called 'wet frizz' which I did have to research to figure out that I need more protein in my hair. Since then, I have been using a protein rich mask and styling my curls everyday and its helped a lot.
I hope some of this info helps you or someone else watching your video! I also really love watching your videos! Since wet ave very similar hair texture, it makes it really easy for me to tell if something will work in my hair if it does in yours. Also, I would suggest watching Melinda and using some of her hair tips. She has wavy, bleached pink hair and along with your videos, she has helped me find things that will work with my hair type.
Keep making these videos! They're really cool and I feel like I'm going through this journey with you :)

In a past video she said her hair is extremely dry and definitely doesn't need protein. I'm not sure how she decided this or why but I thought I'd mention it. She probably won't use protein rich products again anytime soon. She even stopped using coconut oil because "it has too much protein". Poor girl is trying so hard with very little information to work off of as she's wavy.

My hair has been thinning in the EXACT same area as yours! I’ve also been getting cold hands and feet as well as a few other symptoms, to cut a long story short, I was tested for anaemia but turns out I was just heavily anxious (not really suffered with anxiety much before)
I find it so bizarre that we are both thinning in the SAME place at the exact same time, I’ve noticed it for a few months also and it does make me kinda self conscious, I’ve been using expensive organic oils as well as castor oil and using a very natural shampoo and conditioner, trying to sleep with a satin night cap etc.
Edit: PLEASE MAKE THAT BLACK CASTOR OIL VIDEO!

I think you should use a clarifying cleanser from time to time: a good cleanse will revive your hair, moisture can’t get in if there’s build up. And probably you could use a little bit of protein to balance out all the moisture you’re giving to your hair. The hair isn’t always the same, it changes constantly.

I’ve curls and I have another trick! Curly and wavy hair always has an higher Ph level, if it’s to higher your hair gets frizzy and is harder to style. So here’s the trick: if you take a shower you can’t have it to warm, that isn’t good (but you probably already new that). But what you also can do is at the end of your shower changing the shower to cold water. For me it really really helps! (Sorry for my English, I’m from Belgium so...)

hey isabella, i havent had hair troubles like you but when you were talking about the law of attraction it really resonated with me and i can tell you it really works. ive had many bouts of severe acne in my life and many bouts of perfect skin! I find every couple years i've got bad skin lol. but i remember the first time i got really bad acne after not having acne for at least 7 years... i tried everything i could to fix it. but it only seemed to make it worse. i was so fixated on my skin i would cry out of frustration and not want to leave my house or go to work because of how i looked. eventually one day, i just decided not to care about it anymore. to not look at my skin.. to not do anything...no research no remedies.. nothing. and then... my skin cleared up within a couple months :) i think the toxic thoughts made it worse when my acne was bad.. by simply not looking at my skin and ignoring my acne it made it so much better! thats my story anyway... lmk if any of yall have a similar experience like this!

    • @amelia3609
      @amelia3609 4 года назад

aimee watson I am glad ur acne situation was settled. I agree, if you don’t worry about certain imperfections, they tend to go away. I think it’s stress that can cause acne, that’s why many students have bad acne in school, but clear skin in summer. As I watch the video, I just keep thinking about how much work she puts into her hair. I have naturally wavy hair, like hers, all I do is condition, and shampoo my hair, put it into a braid at night. She may be adding too much stress in her hair, adding many products that don’t need to be added. If you have curly hair, I believe it should just show up, and if it’s fizzy, not too hard to take care of. Sorry this was long, but I agree, if she let go of the thought of her hair, positive things may happen.

It's a really amazing treatment! You only need a small amount, the tiny bottle lasts a while.
However, it doesn't work like a conditioner to smooth or soften the hair. People have a misconception about this and get disappointed about the results of olaplex. It's a fortifier, strengthener, and reparative treatment. Having said that, it genuinely works to repair the bonds in the hair as advertised, essentially healing it from the inside out, not just coating it with silicone or creating a tough protein barrier on the outside.
      It's definitely worth the investment!

When you've finished styling, clip the part/cowlick together in the back with a smaller/medium claw clip while it air dries. that's what I do and it gets rid of the weird parting. My hair parts the same way

Look into function of beauty hair loss. I’ve seen a couple of videos about that.

I heard some times that function of beauty causes lots of hair loss...
Is it true for you too?

I checked them on trust pilot a couple of months ago and it was littered with negative results. Then they seem to have intervened and deleted reviews or done something to make the rating better and are sponsoring like EVERY beauty RUclipsr in the world... I don't trust them xx

It is heavily scented with fragrance oils such as peppermint, lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus and spearmint. They are natural but they may be irritating for the scalp. Problem number two- surfactant Cocamidopropyl betaine may be highly irritating for some people and cause hair lose or it can be perfectly fine for others. Everyone just read ingredients list, and see what works for you just don't demonize companies.

I love your hair series. 🤗 I am in the process of growing my own hair to tailbone length (it’s just below boob length now, yay) and really taking care of it, so this is great stuff, it makes one feel not alone in the journey ☺️👌🏻

    Recommendations:
Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Protein-Strong Treatment mask
Cake The Curl Whip Whipped Curl Mousse or Odele Air Dry Styler
I like these because they define my curls, don't weigh down my hair, and don't smell too powerful.

If you’re still looking for a cream for your hair, I think you would like the not your mothers curl talk defining cream, it’s very lightweight so it won’t weigh down your hair

I have the same scalp "problem" as you and sometimes it does make me a bit self conscious
    I'm 18 btw so I don't think it's related to age

It depends what you do to your hair. Also, try to change hair parting

hey girl, I'll just copy my comment in here I just posted cause I think I had the same issue but for me it was a little more serious then a cow lick, I think my scalp was inflamed due to clogged pores due to product build up. So this was my response to Isabella but maybe it applies to you too, just research it in case it would help:
OMGGGG I just saw the part where you describe the issue at the crown of your head and I had THE EXCAT same issue!!
I noticed a thinning of my hair and tried using castor oil but then figured out that it's prob my pores being clogged by all the products I was using. I described it below in more detail!! Please read it I think it might be the same issue!
I was wondering how your scalp is doing. Cause I feel like I was on the exact same journey as you (just like months or so ahead of you) with exactly the same hair type (except mine is longer and still hates me cause I bleached it) and I noticed that I developed seborrheic dermatitis from all the product build ups in my hair by using the CG method.
Now idk if you do a cleansing wash (like proper wash with sulfates) every now and then but I certainly did not cause I was too scared and had noticed the buildup extremely. Like whenever I scratched my fingernail across my scalp I could scratch some build up/dandruff off (sorry if this was TMI). I noticed that due to that my hair hurt a lot at the roots, no matter how I had worn it (up or down) and it got worse over time, especially at
the crown it was really bad. Then I found out it'S prob a fungus growing on my head and just 🤢...
I now kinda stopped the CG method because of that cause I just needed to use a anti-dandruff shampoo every time and it only slowly started to get better. I highly recommend this video by the dermatologist Dr. Dray /watch?v=Xnutv1DRLFw.
I always really try to keep that shampoo off the lengths of my hair and have actually started using a syringe with a dull end to really get it close to the scalp and then I use one of these exfoliating silicone scalp massages that I think Manes by Mell also uses.
I also started using silicones again cause I didn't want my stripped hair to just be exposed to the weather.
      My Current routine is:
      1. Sulfate Shampoo (anti dandruff)
      2. CG approved deep conditioner
      3. Conditioner with sulfates
That way I will first try and strip my hair of the previous silicones and then use smith hydrating and then seal it with silicones to avoid frizz. Now idk if that actually works cause I've only been training git for 3 washdays but it solves at least my dandruff situation.
