    Hey love,
Chemist here and I wanted to give some friendly insight on your struggle to find the perfect balance of ACV to water ratio. You actually hit the nail on the head with the whole pH of your shower discussion and that's the reason why all of the ratios were different-everybody's water will have a different pH. So, considering that there's a universal, nominal pH we want the ACV rinse to be, we would have to dilute our ACV with water to be that pH (and everybody's ratios would be different since our taps give us different pHs of water).
On the off chance you wanted an easy scientific way to do this at home, you can get some pH test trips and start with a small ratio of water to ACV and test the pH little by little, adding more water every time to make the pH go up. Obviously, this would only need to be done once and you would need to keep track of how much water to ACV you're making for future reference.
I just found you and I'm in love! I've recently decided to get my hair under control once and for all! I greatly appreciate all of your hard work, dedication, and honesty!

I did a rosemary rinse with acv today for the first time, and daaaang guurl, my hear never looked that shiny and felt that smooth before! You should definitely give it a try! I had the "recipe" from holistichabits channel, you just bring water to a boil on a stove and add some fresh rosemary (dried rosemary or rosemary oil/essence will surely do it as well) and let it simmer for around 20-30 minutes. Let the water-rosemary-mixture cool down, put a littlebit of acv in it and dump it over your hair after shampooing it just like a normal acv rinse! Ofc you can dilute the mixture with water as well to save some for future hairwashes. Hope you see my comment and that I can help you!

Isabella Demarko, girl you changed my life! My hair struggle has been so similar to yours. I felt like I was doing all the "right" things: never using heat, washing less frequently, rarely using a hair brush and finger combing instead, using a microfiber wrap instead of a bath towel to dry it... My hair just kept getting more and more dry, frizzy, and tangley. And then I saw this video, and then all the pieces came together... My tap water reeks of chlorine! And there are definitely hard minerals in it based on the build-up on my shower head. I just did an ACV rinse and brought jars of filtered water into the shower to rinse between shampoo and conditioner and everything... And my hair feels like my old hair again! It's soft and manageable, just like that. So thankful to you!!!

Ive been using ACV on my hair for years now. Everytime I feel like my hair needs softness or my scalp starts to itch I use it as a rinse. Love it and I mostly use it instead of conditioner. A great idea is also putting in different herbs like rosemary, sage (caureful makes hair little darker) or calendula for extra nutrition. Just fill a mason jar with the herbs/flowers and pour in the ACV. Close the jar and let it soak at least 1 week. I have mine in my cupboard for a year already and it still works awesome!

I've been doing ACV rinses for about half a year now. I use it whenever i feel like it, but i learned right away to use filtered water. My hair grows faster in the fall/winter but I've noticed it's been growing a lot faster since using ACVs. You can also add herbs to your rinses, let them sit for a week and you have an even better rinse. Holistic Habits discusses this in her video about it.
In terms of the amount of acv i use, i can just eyeball it. My scalp gets oily rather quickly while my ends are on the dry side.. However. During my time on the long hair community forums someone told me to try kombucha in place of the acv (or with it) It has a slightly higher pH level i think? So it may be better for certain hair types. Just something to think about trying i suppose!
It's pretty annoying tho how none of the articles tell you that filtered/distilled water is the best? they don't mention it at all.. like lol?

I honestly have no idea why I'm watching this since I've never given two hoots about what my hair looks like beyond like "is it a mess" and "is it clean", but this is just... so fascinating.
As a scientist myself I have to say I am very impressed with this (maybe it's a scientist thing? It's an interesting question I've never considered investigating). Your background research makes a genuine effort to be neutral and cover multiple sources, you acknowledge the lack of consensus in the area and include relevant background information about hair type and water type and pH. Not to mention the end where you acknowledge your sources of error and how they influence your results... girl if I could get my second year bio students to approach their lab reports with this level of critical thinking! Assuming you have no scientific background (I could be wrong tbh, I don't know you), the research, proposal, experimental design, and presentation of results are really well done! Just wanted to let you know.
Looking forward to further videos! I really enjoy your style of making them.

@@malakkhaled5329 It is still working really well, I use shampoo once a month (more or less) and the frizz in my hair has been amazingly reduced, you have to be careful with which kind of shampoo you wash your hair, but I believe it will work anyway.

Hello all the way from Puerto Rico! You're just the motivation I needed to let my hair grow! I use to have lower back lenght, decided to cut a bit each year and ended up with a pixie cut which I adored. Now I want to go back to long lenght and I suspected hard water was doing me bad. My hair is greasy and thin but somehow now it's very frizzy too since I moved to another town. It's the water!!! Thank you for these informative and fun videos ( I personally love the GIFS)

No matter what products I use during the shampooing or conditioning, I always notice that the after care matters the most for me. Using oil for my ends as leave-in, wrapping my hair in a t-shirt instead of a towel... andddd letting my hair air dry like 80% and then wrapping it with same style as you do. That is what gives me the non-frizzy look.

I have extremely hard water in my city. I always had problems with scalp itching and seborrheic scalp. It was pretty bad, and still when I went to places with soft water the itch wouldnt come back. When I picked up on this I started ACVing my hair (and rinsing it) and the itch and seborrhea got under control! Finally I can live with my hair and scalp, I tried so many ways and shampoos but the problem was in water and not shampoos and ACV saved me definitely. Even if u rinse the acv rinse it works, (I leave it for a few mins while shaving/and I put conditioner on my ends while having acv on my scalp..
    Really works wonders.

Back when I was anti-silicone and using only natural ingredients on my hair, I would use half ACV and half water as a leave in conditioner after I washed my hair. The reason I didn't use silicone products is because ACV can remove build up so it would dry out my hair and remove the siliconey conditioner. I haven't used ACV in my hair care in years tho and I definitely want to bring it back.
As for it removing hair dye, I totally think it does. Whenever I would use ACV my hair would definitely fade and change the color of the water. I even use the "no poo" method (baking soda as shampoo, ACV as conditioner) to remove hair dye when I want to change my color! Works like a charm.

Azbibby, it does need to be said that if we white girls would have taken the advice of our black sisters decades ago, we would have much nicer hair! Instead, we believed advertisements by companies wanting to sell us stuff. I really believe that racism and the false belief that there is nothing similar in our slightly different hair types blocks white girls from the best advice out there.
