Hello everyone, in this tutorial I will show you how to update your modded switch
to version 18.0.1 in the easiest way, without losing data.
All you need is to follow each step carefully, and you won't have any problems.
All SD Files are in one place, so you don't have to download from multiple sites.
Only the firmware is separate.

For consoles with installed mod-chip, it is necessary to update payload.bin (rename hekate.bin to payload.bin and replace the existing one on the sd card).

I am on 16.0.1. I had Mario Kart working and downloaded the update 3.0.0 and now it is not working. Asking me to update the software. All the other games are working. Is there a way to get the game back how it was or do I need to update to 18.0.0?

If you have an .nsp file before the update, that's the easiest way

Can you do this with a fresh start of atmosphere or do you already have to have an older atmosphere?

Please bear with me. Bought switch pre modded, CFW on 17. Servers blocked, use rcm jig to boot into cfw. I still want to use OFW account as I have tonnes of games, saves, online and money in the account. So if I follow this guide, I can then update to 18.0 on OFW and everything will be ok?

My atmosphere is up to date but my actual switch firmware is still on 16.0.0. My custom firmware is kefir and hakate. Will this work with my oled?
This is a tutorial for the atmosphere dual system. But there is even newer 18.1.0 on the channel.

Mine keep freezing when I click inject payload...
Its in RCM mode and checks out good before but when I select the file and inject it starts to say not responding..
So far I've tried 3 different cables,
2 different PCs,
2 different SD cards,
and 2 different types of TagraRcmGUI (standalone and full installer)
Driver is installed.
V1 Switch unpatched, 18.0.1 Software..
Please help...

Sorry to bother, but i did everything but when i launched Cfu-eeuMMC it says "emummc is forced but not enabled, failed to launch HOS", is there a way to fix this?
If it is disabled, you have to go to emummc/change emummc from the hekate menu and select it.
do i need to leave old atmosphere file or can i delete it

If everything works with the new one, you can delete the old one...It's just a backup just in case.
Can you use usb instead of sd card? I dont have an adapter
You can by enabling USB Mass Storage in Hekate

No need for jig. Instead you have to update payload.bin(rename hekate.bin to payload.bin and replace existing one on the sd card. Everything else is the same.
Should i play online games like Fortnite and other on ofw or sysmmc and tinfoil
Fortnite (and other online and purchased games) play on stock sysmmc, everything else on cfw emummc. Cfw sysmmc never touch.

If you have emunand, then you can only update sysnand. But if you are only a sysnand user, then you have to update everything.

Download it and put it in the switch folder. Or you can use tinfoil instead (you have a tutorial on my channel).

Ah hold on. So I can just update my stock Nintendo account to 18.0 and not bother updating the CFW and it'll work and I can play my games as usual online on the standard account?
my screen turns black after launching “cfw-emuMMC” Ive launched it before perfectly but now it wont load at all, just a blank screen
