I like the idea of King Kai being a sort of avatar for Toriyama. It works fairly well on a meta level. Like how King Kai trains/teaches Goku and the other characters about techniques and lore, and that is kinda mirrored in the sense that Toriyama is the one scripting that stuff to begin with.
It makes a lot of sense for King Kai to be Toriyama's avatar since often knows about a lot and gives advice and lore to Goku which is also giving info to the viewer.
Not to mention King Kai only taught Goku his techniques. Giving Goku one of the earliest leads on all of the Dragon Team, but didn't do the same for the others when they got there. The Goku focus is there with King Kai too. Lol
I feel like king Kai should have been promoted to supreme Kai. If you think about it he’s done more for the universe then shin easily. (Plus I don’t even think shin wants the job)
Especially since it could easily happen. There is plenty of progression...but also, if King Kai is like Toriyama, he would never accept it since it requires doing work and not getting the chance to have a secluded life.

he cant. only shinjin born from the golden fruits of the tree can become kaioshin. kaio was born of a regular fruit so he cant go higher than Kaio rank. Zamasu was born of a golden fruit and could have become a fully fledged Kaioshin from being a Kaio before that however. But we all know how that turned out.
Dragon Ball Kakarot brought back neglected Dragon Ball characters but not neglected DBZ characters. In fact, Buu's Fury is apparently the only game he appeared in. Must be because he's not canon or popular enough to ignore the fact he's not.

King Kai was always a fun character in the series. A shame that we don't really see him anymore. I can also see the Toriyama similarities, as well. There's just something about his character that made me think these similarities were intentional from the beginning.

I don’t care if the Otherworld Tournament Saga was filler, it was a great epilogue to Goku’s original ending and it was fun on top of it! I recently showed it to my son, whose exposure to DB before then was Dbz Kakarot and some of the movies, and he also said it was really fun!

I would say through my own head Cannon and feel free to take away whatever you want from this due to the fact universe 7 has so much strife in it and chaos I feel like the world tree that burst the Kai probably produced several high-tier fruits in order to deal with the rampant destruction of beans like Moro and kid Buu, other more stable universes wouldn't really require so many high-tiered beings. It's also evident in the fact that so many of them fell in the battle with kid Buu that it was warranted if not through the ability of hindsight that so many strong beings would be needed. On another note I viewed the supreme compass Kai and their counterparts of the afterlife as mirror images of each other with the filler only Grand Kai fulfilling the same role as the supreme Kai in the land of the living. I would also like to add that due to my first theory about the chaotic nature of universe 7 providing so many deities in order to keep the universe stable I would assume that the reason we only see Grand supreme Kai for the other universes and barring the exception of zamasu the other universes might be easily ruled by one supreme Kai and someone to take over if they are indeed safer. But again that's just head Cannon so take it what you will

I feel like King Kai should've been stronger. Like Imperfect Cell level but can't intervene directly in mortal affairs. But could train people in ways remotely. Like increase a planets gravity to make warriors stronger and they could defend themselves. While Beerus could destroy universal threats and Shin could create planets and help new species grow. Basically one destroys, one creates, and one trains and gives guidance.
King Kai is a lower/mid tier deity, in terms of status within Dragon Ball. But for Goku & the viewers, King Kai is the top dawg. His dub name is well deserved.
Here's an idea: Tien is the original evil goku. Both of them were humans with odd qualities, goku wasn't thought of as a saiyan in og dragon ball, both of them loved to battle, both of them trained with 2 rivaling schools taught by old men, and became friends with fellow students who were much shorter, and both of them were prodigies, with tien being the second person to instantly learn the kamehameha after seeing it once like goku who did it first.

The other World Tournament is cannon. There is no reason for it not to be. Nothing in the arc contradicts the rest of the story. We get introduced to the other quadrant Kai's and it primes us for Super and the idea of other universes.

To be fair, DBS has been pretty absent Toriyama, so it makes sense that his avatar isn't there. He creates a basic plot outline and Toei & Toyotaro then make it into the manga/anime, instead of the direct writing and illustration of the earlier Dragonball and Dragonball Z.

The other World Tournament is cannon. There is no reason for it not to be. Nothing in the arc contradicts the rest of the story. We get introduced to the other quadrant Kai's and it primes us for Super and the idea of other universes.
goku mentions in super that he hasn't/can't use kaioken with super saiyan, which directly contradicts the other world tournament.
its not. anything thats not in the original manga isnt canon. it doesnt matter if it does or doesnt contradict. if its not from the manga its not canon.

To be fair, DBS has been pretty absent Toriyama, so it makes sense that his avatar isn't there. He creates a basic plot outline and Toei & Toyotaro then make it into the manga/anime, instead of the direct writing and illustration of the earlier Dragonball and Dragonball Z.
He didn't teach anything to anyone other then Goku so I believe he is actually Toriyama
