It’s been incredible to see these shows go from ideas to workshopping pilots with Alex and then to releasing them for you all to enjoy.
Seeing Auction be a loved fan favourite and people loving Masochist so much they start their own runs was something I couldn’t have imagined at the start of these series. Hey, I was the very first player here. I felt so bad not being able to show what my deck did! I got some really good pulls in my run and built a swordsoul/wyrm pile with a shaddoll engine. I had a dead shaddoll fusion in my hand the whole game because you never overlaid any of your monsters, and my final draw was a longyuan after I already committed all the discards to the board to not die. I only have a leo the sacred keeper to make with it, but I think for a masochist matchup it still would have put in some good work

Theres a chance that people wouldve auto conceded so that Cimo would earn packs to speedrun improve his deck. I think thats why no packs are earned from the challenge

Ngl masochist vs masochist is some of the best yugioh I’ve seen in a while. It reminds me of playground yugioh except with actual rules. And feels more akin to a trading card game where you play with what you realistically pull and not buy a hyper optimized strategy

I’m trying to start a format similar to this called Infinity Format where all players attempt to make original combos with an incentive on slower gameplay. if anyone is interested, just let me know.

I like how so many of my masochist card are "worst raigeki" like gingerbread house or lightning vortex, and this lad just pulled dark hole
Ay, put some respect on my boi gingerbread house. Its a continues spell which makes it a good target for watch cat and its a common plus those life points do sometimes come in clutch.

They probably got lucky or they have a special rule in their masochist series, because lets be honest if it wasn't a masochist or masochist like deck then it would be considered bad.
@@rafflesiaandfriends The renee deck I could say that person possibly got lucky (alt art eldlich doesnt come from master packs according to a few comments though so be skeptical on that one) the Boot deck just had wayyyyyy too many infernoble cards for me to believe that they were just pulling master packs just the sheer odds of pulling that many of one archetype out of just master packs is just highly unlikely
@@gyranix people play with "own rules" all the time. Some people play "masochist" where they can buy event packs, or collect all rewards. Even farfa is "cheating" in his Maso runs, even if just a bit. Roughly 0% chance Rennae played fair.

Yeah, I suspect some "foul play". If those were masochist decks, they probably play with their own rules, like being able to open secret packs. And you can play your masochist run however you like, no problem with that. But it's a little disingenuous to 1v1 another masochist when they aren't playing with such a handicap.

Masochist is easily some of the most fun I’ve had in yugioh in quite some time. Discussing tech options, getting crazy wins and finding unique ways to combo seemingly unrelated cards has been such a thrill, and we have Alex to thank for introducing us to this format!
I've been watching this new series since day one, I love the series. I'd say we call this the masochist format. Dont forget these players know what cimo is playing so im sure they are playing around his deck. Cimo is going blind. Great job Cimo im sure some decks were added extra cards lol

It was for the period it was available, which was actually TWO separate periods. Same with Knightmare Unicorn. EVERY card available in Secret Packs can be found in Master Packs, including alt arts available during their active periods.

Nice change in the masochist formula, and that last match I don't believe is a 100% masochist deck. Pulling only out of masterpacks is very unlikely to get that many infernoble cards

Keep in mind that some Masochist accounts have HUNDREDS of wins, so they’ve had more opportunities to build out a somewhat competent strategy.

@@AsterJ you wouldn’t belive how far you can take this challenge I myself am playing this challenge for exactly 219 days and I played exactly 3632 duels and have 215 urs that I pulled on that account some of these pulls include a royal mo ye and i even pulled a baronne my Deck is nearly constructed quality right now but there are even way better ones im in a master duel discord where people have even reached diamond 3 under the challenge so it’s certainly possiable

Bro I've noticed a pattern with Cimo, he seriously doesn't like going into the extra deck for any reason whatsoever in this series a lot of the time. It's not me hating or anything like that, it's more genuinely baffling why he just ignores it 95% of the time when the solution to a lot of his problems are right in there lol
He's too afraid of going -1 summoning an extra-deck monster, and then it dying to 1 for 1 removal.
he doesn't like taking risks. 1 thing we can say about cimo when it comes to masochist is that he tries to take the most cautious route possible even if it's a detriment
@@michael_betts but there have also been situations in past videos where if he had just made say, Magma, he'd have easily wrapped things up from there
The problem is that so many cards punish making unnecessary action especially backrow. Sometimes it's just better to go to battle phase than to over extend even if doing so could win you the game, especially if your opponent has been struggling to deal with your board, why take risks when you're winning.
Literally got punished by rennae for syncing. It's just risky for him.

This is A LOT of fun watching! Great vid Cimo. The randomness of decks makes it for fun duels. I have my own series of playground duels and recording the next one and thats the most fun i have on MD while the Fire year runs wild on MD.

I recently started over on my masocist challenge and i gotta say this new run has been really good to me i think ive won like 80 times but ive pulled great stapples. Tons of trap hole cards, torrential tribute even a traptrix sera but only 3 deionia no other Traptrix monsters and some decent extradeck bombs like silent honor ark and amblowhale

I don't know why the infernoble player didn't equip Ogier to Bull Ain, that way Bull Ain can't be destroyed by it's own effect. They'll get a pop and still be able to attack. Idk that just urks me, I'm an avid Infernoble player myself.
Still cool to see this series alongside Masochist! A lot of creativity when it comes to how people play and use tech choices.
That was me, I had only ever played n/r infernoble before, thanks for pointing this out! IDK why but I assumed that interaction just wouldn't work that way.
I love what masochist deck turns into once it finds a theme. Cimo has a plant/insect deck, but also Ogre is there.
One minute Rennae is summoning Juragedo, the next its Soldier of Chaos plus Redoer.
Boot had so many Infernoble cards it literally looks like cheating (though its prob just an insane number of wins). While I'm cheating, lemme just put in the standard ratios. One of some of the names, no Durendal, and lets get Weighbridge in there. xd

My masochist deck has 2 pankratops, unicorn + fenrir, ash blossom and belle, and Hapies Featger Storm + good winged beast to go with it. The infernoble deck is believable if you grind enough packs guys.
None of those cards are in the same pack. The odds of getting that many cards from 1 secret pack is absurd. Even if you opened 1000 master packs.
Mathematically your odds were higher.
6 meta URs are easier to draw than 6 SR of the same archetype

Hey Cimo, thank you for making this series as it got me back into playing Yugioh. I first started playing when the game first came out when I was a kid but wasn't very good at it so I dropped it. From watching the Masochist series as well as the Progression series, I tried my own Masochist run and I've really enjoyed the challenge and relearning how to play Yugioh in a modern format. Wasent that Alt Art Eldlich from the Secret Pack so that means it cant be pulled from Master/lagacy Packs
If he pulled regular art eldlich it's possible he swapped it for the Alt art one because he liked it better.

Yeah none of that 10 minute combo into 12 negate boards bullshit. Just jank, and even when there is an occasional Towers or negate monster or just a big beater, it actually feels like something that needed effort to be put on the field.

I dueled a masochist just last week (was obvious by the random monsters he used, mix of normal Dai targets some other effekt monster for a rank4 "toolbox"). He had Raigeki and Feather duster in the opening, killing my start board. Stalled further with bottomless and punishment. After that I finally got my plays through, but that was an experience...
I was so desperate that the CED dude would draw S/T removal then wipe the board next turn.
Unfortunately, due to the CED errata, if he had used S/T removal, he would not be able to activate CED that turn.

Referring to the last duel I’ve found infernoble/noble knights stuff pretty consistently on my own masochist run tbf, got ogier, Oliver, durendal equip spell, the UR emperor Charles link and then a few noble knights monsters n spells I forget the names of. That guy must have accumulated his collection over a lot of master packs though haha

I had the great noodle intervention for my masochist deck, I worked well because I was lucky and got 2 mannadium meek, so I just put one on the bottom so I wouldn't draw it.

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Boot with 13 to 14 Noble Knight cards in their deck is crazy, I'm just talking Noble Knights but they're more Infernoble knight than that, and that made them very very strong as well. God, I thought we were playing Ranked just now with that last match. And I don't know but Renae pulled crazy there, like, we're just dead and that was a board that even though they're not popular cards from the meta, they're like a board that I would see a rogue deck made. Jesus christ and oh buddha, though yeah, I got to see so many of other Masochists work on their own deck to challenge another Masochist deck, it was really cool!!! We got to see a lot of unique deck building, feels like battle city in the anime now where everyone just plays a ton of unique cards. Good job to all da masochists, would love to see this again. >:D

I hold doubts about the last one. He found 2 copies of 6 cards on his deck. He had an impressive amount of ifernobles. Most of the stuff that wasn't infernoble was either generic warrior support stuff of really good niche cards plus 2 good handtraps.
He would have to be absurdly lucky to make that deck. I have seen videos of people doing this challenge and such a big mass of good cards from 1 single archetype plus support has simply not happened.
To be fair is possible that he choose to do the masochist challenge with his own rules like 1 free craft every X victories or pulling from 1 infernoble pack after each rank up, etc. But in a traditional masochist with that big of a pull of cards finding so many 2 copies and so many warrior and infernoble cards is probably close to statistically impossible.
