For those wondering why I started with 10 pack instead of 5: When you start with just 40 random cards, most of your cards will be literally unplayable. Which would be fine if that resulted in challenging and interesting duels... But everyone I talked to who's done a Masochist run said that the first few hours were just waiting for bots to show up so they can steal wins. You're not even playing games, you're just loading in and hoping someone surrenders. Its not exciting to watch, because there's no strategy or decision making. Starting with 10 packs skips the first hour of slogging through bots, and lets me begin with a deck that can KIND OF do something. As you can see in the episode, it doesn't give me a strong or cohesive deck. I'm still struggling with random cards & using stuff I can't activate, but at least there are SOME choices I can make. I'm still well within the spirit of the Masochist challenge though; struggling against the odds with a bunch of jank. So tl;dr - This is a show meant to entertain ya'll, and 10 pack is more entertaining than 5.

My suggestions for a redo of Deck Dev Break down whatever you want and when. You still need to win to get a craft. No bundle cards, but free starter decks are fine. We have to have a card floor, if we are forcibly decrafting as a non-negotiable mechanic. Your cards are only forcibly de-crafted if YOUR OPPONENT was the one who destroyed OR BANISHED IT, no resurrection clause. And lastly, a Master Pack and Legacy pack from each win. Gotta keep the stream of new cards coming, and I highly doubt any cards would be pulled through Legacy would be too much of an advantage for not being able to be de-crafted. This should avoid most of the rule specification shenanigans that came up last time with each new situation or question. Yes it basically hybridizes a masochist run into it, and I feel that solves most of the problems. Obviously, any other problems could be brought up and talked about. The more intelligent heads, the merrier.
Tbh the main issue with deck dev was the forced deconstruct mechanic, a straight up masochist series I think it is just more balanced and compatible with MD. You can do whatever you want in Progression Series and duel sims like DB MD is NOT that nice yet lol Idk if it ever will be, because its clearly just a money vehicle for Konami and not an attempt at a truly comprehensive simulator.
I enjoy Alex's masochist run however I am so so happy that you're doing this because honestly when it comes to the comedic side of yugitubing, you're easily my go to

Most decks can play against a single Ash It has to be in combination with another interaction to be effective nowadays, which is why most decks that play Ash, play 3 of them, and ALSO play Veiler/Imperm/Droll/Crow/Maxx C/etc.. If you want to have less handtraps and have them be the most effective FOR THEIR CARD ECONOMY, you want stuff like Droll, Shifter, Evenly, Nibiru, Maxx C, because they can have bigger impact than a single card in a hand for a single negate

My masocist deck quickly became fire focused when i pulled a garunix and a snake-eye poplar to search that removal spell. But i have a ton of decent fire monsters and amblowhale and the salamangreat synchro.
That Two Toads play alone justifies a highlight reel further down the line. You've been one of the best YuGi-tubers in my book for as long as I've been familiar with your content. Very much looking forward to this series!
I also started with a 10 pack, so I agree with your decision completely. I understand the idea of "starting with the bare minimum" but honestly I think challenges work best when each person customizes it to suit them. I allowed myself to use certain cards the game gives you through the reward system, but NOT the cards in the starting deck or the single player or any free packs or campaigns or secret packs. I do this mostly because I try to maintain a F2P acc and not collecting cards in the reward screen stops you from gathering gems sometimes, but remembering what is or isnt off limits is difficult when you stop playing for a month so I make them usable. Ive seen people let themselves have a craft after getting a new highest rank/ tier or a secret pack instead. I have no problem with that, it sounds like they want incentives to do well more than what the RNG can give them. These are all masochist variants and its wrong for them "not to count". Its all fun and games, after all.
I put the video to sleep to but the editing and pace were so great I actually watched all of it, also didn't exprct this good of a run, truly the king of jank
The Shaddoll trap card has a graveyard effect that allows you to banish a Shaddoll to flip one monster face-up or face-down. In certain niche situations, this means Ariel can summon back Squamata, or you can flip Mimicking Man-Eater Bug to destroy an opponent's monster during their turn. While it's not an overpowered interaction, it can certainly be clutch in some moments.
The intros are always amazing, definately the best of all yugitubers! Even if the format is not that popular a lot of people appreciate diverse content in yugioh 😊
Str8edge4life. Just 1 card doesn't make a huge difference most of the time. Avoiding entirely does eliminate the chance that it comes up and people critique the fact you didn't pull the card. Also, yay for more Hardleg challenges :)

Chugalug! Also! Keep your eyes open for a very powerful N rarity card called Pinpoint Dash. It can open up a whole new world in masochist duels by letting you ACTUALLY USE your extra deck. GL getting it. Its saved me a number of duels in my own masochist profile.

Chugalug, having seen a lot of masochist series I actually find that the few staples they sometimes have are incredibly hype when they come up. Being guaranteed of course removes some of the wowfactor, but that doesn't take away the hype from seeing your "strategy" somehow working out because you drew the one good card in your deck

I always waited for you to start your own Maso run. Like your Ladder climb videos so this one is good for sure. I think you should do the proficiency tests too because they can also award you some extra arbys gift cards. It's nothing huge but you earn them in duels too so i think these should count at least. Farfa did that too.

Still open 10 packs but just open it 1 by 1(consider it as getting used to the journey)

The staple can at least help win against those bots so you can get more master packs. I would say use the staple until you at least reach silver then dismantle it.
I think it's fine. My personal rule allows me to use any one card that is not obtained from a master pack or legacy pack. But only one. I can swap them out though.
Warhammer has been the Mvp of my run. getting that early gives you a psuedo boss monster for one tribute. Paired with any self summoner for the free tribute he is just a push on his own
