For the longest time.. I didn't know what was wrong with me. ER sending me home with anti-depressants while my left arm is going numb with extreme chest pains. I diagnosed myself after sitting and waiting to have a chiropractor look at me. The chart on the wall pointed straight to the nerve and muscles that were getting numb. It was like a lightning bolt from god telling me "hey buddy you'll be ok..now it's time to work on this C7"... after 20 years of not knowing what's wrong with me I finally have some help from gifted people like Annie. She is not the first to help me and probably not the last. I have learned more here and I thank you so much for equipping me even more with the skills you provide. I will beat this. like, sub, hugggs!!

Thank you. I’ve suffered with a C6/7 left focal protrusion for around 15 years now, and this is by far the best set of comprehensive exercises I’ve ever seen. The NHS originally sent me home with just 3 neck stretch exercises to do, which whilst helping, aren’t enough when flare ups occur. Thank you so much. I feel at ease already.
I’ve been told if it gets continually worse then, yes. However, regular exercise and movement like this has prevented me from feeling the need to get surgery. The operation is quite invasive, leaving a slashed scar across the front of the neck, so would only consider it if desperate.
I saw a video for my cause (C5 and C6 at 18yrs) now I realise there were so many flaws in that video. Thanks for more detail you just made my future safer for a time maybe forever.......

Hi Annie thank you for sharing your knowledge in helping myself and others. The only exercise that causes me discomfort is the chin tuck towards the aggravated side. All the others feel good to do. A great combination of exercises. Highly recommend this routine to start or end your day. Also, for those with major weakness in the neck or core muscles, I would recommend taking her advice on sticking to the gliding and stretching for 7-10 days before moving into any strengthening exercises. It can really help make sure you have proper mobility, which will insure you engage and strengthen the muscles correctly and prevent weeks of recovery from potential injury.

@@Ur2ez4me81 do you know what it was? I have 2 herinated discs. Wondering if whatever you did would help me. Glad you're out of pain! It's a miserable place to be.
My MRI revealed a Bulging disc causing severe narrowing of left side which explains my arm pain and forearm pain. Been ongoing for about 4 weeks. See doctor Friday, but for some reason Chin Tucks really cause my forearm to hurt. I just can't do those. Thee other one's feel like great relief but chin tucks hurt too much in my forearm when i do them. Nerve gets more compressed.
@@ecinaz better but probably at like 90%. Sometimes 95%. I do some Pilates see a therapist that does cupping and deep almost painful message of my scapula and trap. No numbness anymore. I am not sure I’ll ever be able to push my body hard again without dealing with soreness from trap down to my forearm again. I can bike I can weight lift I can do rowing machine. I just have to be careful how I sleep. Which side and careful with doing stuff without warming up. I do like 20 min of upper body Pilates and movements before doing golf or weight lifting. Even then still feel it’s there. It’s just not painful. I’m going to be 43 in April. I’ve beat up my body as a gym rat for 25 years. I’ve learned to deal with it. It doesn’t effect my daily life like it did back from June through August.
@@danielarreola7717 Thanks for the reply. Glad you're doing well. I'm older than you at 53 yo, but still in decent shape. When you say that you can 'still feel that it's there', but no pain - do you mean that you have aching? At the ten month mark now, I don't have pain in my left arm anymore, but I do have a numb left index finger and low grade chronic aching in my shoulder/neck. I had a cervical epidural injection back in June which didn't do much. I took gabapentin for 3 months which really helped, but I stopped taking it in Sept. I bought a 'saunders' traction unit which I think has helped me the most. I saw an orthopedic surgeon in July who offered me acdf surgery. I recently scheduled acdf surgery for January 6. I met with a PA at a neurosurgeons office yesterday for a 2nd opinion. She reviewed my 7 month old MRI, and agreed that my herniation was severe. She basically told me the same thing that the surgeon did = 'live with it, or have surgery', and encouraged me to try PT again. I'm conflicted about having surgery, but I don't want to live with chronic aching either. Everyone is different, but it sounds like maybe your disc wasn't as badly herniated as mine. From what I've researched, 85% of disc bulges/herniations resolve within 3-4 months. Sounds like you're doing great at 4 months. At my 4 month mark, I was still in terrible pain trying to go to PT which was not helpful. I wish you the best. I know its not an easy thing to deal with. Cheers. EC
@@ecinaz I seen two orthopedics in July and then in august. I was already improving but still in discomfort. Both told me mine was too minor for surgery and they were 90% sure my symptoms would resolve. I probably didn’t rest it enough and got back to golf in August even at 80%. Stopped playing golf at end of September due to I always take October November and December off anyway. I noticed with therapy on and off stretches and no golf swing it improved a lot. Yes I have ache but not in arm. In my Terras minor major and rhomboid scapula. It just aches slightly. Some days not really at all. I find strengthening the area actually doing dumbell rows thread the needle stretches and opening up my upper back with more stretches really helps. I’ve taken no medication. No numbness anymore. Although I do feel if I pushed it hard I would end up sore enough to cause numbness especially in my pinky finger and ring. My big issue was the forearm tightness. Did you have the forearm top of forearm so top of arm pain or ache? That to me was biggest discomfort for me. I haven’t had that in at least 6 weeks now. It used to hurt so bad even to look up or wash my hair. Now no pain when doing that. I’m going to live with it unless it becomes so bad that the numbness and ache is bad whether I do activity or not. I’m not sure how bad yours is but if you can give it some time still and avoid surgery I would consider. My buddy who was a pro hockey player said it took 10 months to be where it never bothered him anymore. He followed same as me. Stretches strength and mobility. Good luck.
@@danielarreola7717 Sounds like you have a good workout regimen. No, I didn't have forearm pain specifically, just general pain down the arm for the first 4 months or so. Maybe I will reconsider having surgery, considering that I am healing, albeit slowly. It sounds like you'll definitely make a full recovery. Thanks again for the reply. Best of luck. EC
I was diagnosed with the following. Will this exercise help? At C4-5, there is a broad-based central disc protrusion impinging the ventral thecal sac. No spinal canal or neuroforaminal stenosis. At C5-6 and C6-7, there are mild disc bulges flattening the ventral thecal sac. No spinal canal or neuroforaminal stenosis
I have cervical spine stenosis and includes numbness in hands was doing really well with stretches pt had me do dumbbell curls said it would strengthen now I’m way back to square one with pain and numbness I wish I never We t to pt. Why would she have me do that and why would it flare up so bad please help I’m so upset 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I am sorry to hear that outcome, how heavy was the dumb bell? did the PT started with a 1 pound dumbbell only or more than a pound? if you did more than 1 lb for the first time, it will definitely aggravate your cervical spine. I usually start with elastic band because it will have less pressure on your spine and i also start with postural muscles strengthening such as rows, shoulder press, chest press, before i start with any biceps or triceps to slowly progress and usually in a very light resistance band..
@@AnniePilatesPhysicalTherapist it was a little over 2 pounds I said too heavy we did just two pounds then. She also had me do pull aparts I don’t know why she was focusing so much on biceps and traps so quickly I should of spoken up more but I trusted her. I’m praying I can get back to where I was and even better I’m going to follow your program it’s so hard getting better and then going back to square one from pt therapist thank you so much for the wonderful info and quick reply bless you 🙏🙏🙏

@@BeaconOfLight15 time healed it, it was really bad
How are you doing now? I was diagnosed with c6-c7 herniation back in June 2022. Yeah, chin tucks made the pain in my arm worse also.
Hello 🙂Is this suitable for a posterior medial c5-c6 herniation? Thanks
What if my disc is gone behind the neck and gets scratch with nervous while moving
Does this work for C5/6 as well?
I’m praying I can get back to where I was and even better I’m going to follow your program it’s so hard getting better and then going back to square one from pt therapist thank you so much for the wonderful info and quick reply bless you 🙏🙏🙏
@@sergusbower1270 with my exercises, try to limit the extension due to your stenosis, focus more on the isometrics and nerve glides to recover slowly, so skip the scarf stretches for your case. Then add the strengthening with the elastic band , i have a gentle progression with this video link is on the description, and if you can't find it i will send it you.
@@AnniePilatesPhysicalTherapist will you please send it to me as I can’t find it and I’m not good with technology thank you so much God bless 🙏🙏🙏

Thanks so much for sharing this video. Do you have a heating pad you recommend for neck pain?
hello, i dont have any recommendation right now.
This is exactly what I’m going through and have been for 2 years now. The top of my forearm on my left arm is completely numb to the touch all the way down to my pointer finger. I’m used to it now but for a few months it felt like I had my finger completely wrapped up.

You mentioned a strength training video for after doing these exercises. Do you have the link for it please? I have c5-c6 and c6-c7 disc prolapse and will try your exercises. But would you know if doing these exercises will cure it? Or does this only get worse as I am still yet to speak to my doctor and not sure of what this means for me 😢 thanks for this video

What if there is weakness in both arms
Hello Madam.
Is this exercise also good for the numbing/tingling arm and hand, shoulder blade pain and shoulder pain? I have a mild C5,6,7 disc bulge in my MRI. My neurologist said just a while ago that I am now normal but I need only an active physiotherapist. Please help, thanks a lot.
Yes , as long as you are not having more pain try this gentle exercise keep me posted
