extra 10 or 20 points for salary is difficult to gain as package is less...any other ways to gain other points
The only other way is if your Job in a shortage occupation as designated by the Migration Advisory Committee or if your into PHD.

Thanks for your comments and checking out my video. I will do some more research and will share some information in coming days. As my my personal opinion, Service desk where you need Computer and IT skills might come but you will have to check with the employer.

How the points based system will help switching jobs in ICT tier 2 visa? As per the existing ICT tier 2 regulations a tier 2 visa holder cannot switch job.

For housekeeper, there is a special category visa. You can check here if you are eligible for such visa- www.gov.uk/domestic-workers-in-a-private-household-visa .For Child care, again it depends if you are into Medical field of general child care. There are specific visa for Medical carer.

Regarding your question, Software Developer falls under Shortage occupation, so yes, you can get 20 points under that category.
For the Ielts, whatever documents I have gone through till now, I have not seen any specification on the Ielts bands yet. But there are some new update coming on this system and I will check it and come back soon.

It all depends on the type of job you are applying for. There is no general rule.
