Also in that final chorus after all the chokehold reference stuff, the music itself builds a dramatic tension signaling there's gonna be something pretty big. I didn't really catch this at first but after many listens it's super obvious and you can see how they actually did try and give some kind of build into it rather than "completely" coming out of nowhere
“Euclid” is beautiful as well from this album as well as “are you okay?” And ascensionisn by them js also one of those songs that sounds like it would blow up on the radio! Love the reaction and honestly the screaming part isn’t for everyone, but think of it as its meant to convey frustration or anger that is within pent up inside of the soul pushed into music. The screams aren’t just cause “oh we are metal so we need heavy stuff” it’s usually for emotional release. That’s his “bite back” about wanting to be taken back to Eden or as in this song means back to how things used to be. Worship!
Sleep Token, in my eyes, are progressive. That is exactly what they re doing with music now. This album is hopefully inspiring young artists to take a different path.
They just dropped their new album take me back to eden, this song is the title track, on May 19th so many new songs and the album is def album of the yr. It has numerous callbacks to songs from their albums sundowning and this place will become your tomb the other 2 albums in this trilogy. It's a masterclass in how to make insane art and bring things full circle
I have good apples, and you have a very decent snake....I'm dying over here!!! LMAO. This one is definitely turmoil and chaos at the end. I appreciate that but I could see Mike's recoil in that moment. But I always enjoy watching your reactions to ST. Have a great day/evening/morning you two!!! Check more of the album out, it's beautiful and a magnum opus of their work. Especially if you know their earlier work. It's so satisfying....
If Chokehold was the favourite, the ending on this one nailed it with including a couple of lines from it 😊. This is actually my ‘on repeat’. It’s so beautiful and his final explosion in biting back in anger just shows how much they use the multiple music genres to portray the right emotions.
I'd like to watch you two react to another song from this album that is very emotional. It's called are you really okay and it's so beautiful and poignant. I believe you'd both like it very much.
This song is so crazy thinking about it even now after so many listens. Its so quiet and yes, delicate, but also expands into the very opposite, it's mind-blowing how Sleep Token manage to mix those two things up so seamlessly. Love the content guys.
Genuinely like your description how Sleep Token has found a way to make really really deep and complex musical experiences very easily consumable and digestible.
personal favorite of this album would be Ascensionism, but I dont mind you to reacting to any song from them, even the older ones from Sundowning. A lot of references from that album.
Sleep Token was like, what is good in the US that the muricans have burnt in their DNA? Journey. This song and the next one, Euclid are such a Journey homage.
Don't let the screaming part turn you off from Sleep Token. If you like the "delicate" parts I really suggest listening to their past albums, and even like most of this album is "prettier" more so than "heavier" and the screaming parts are very sporadic
I think the jarring, aggressive ending is an important part of the story being told. The shock and discomfort it evokes is (I believe) intentional. It's raw representation of Vessels pain and frustration...and within the context of the lore, its totally appropriate.
I love the loooooong songs…with Tool being my fav band too, the longer the songs the better. I love that Sleep Token are as weird as they are proggy. Rock on 🤘
My first Sleep Token. I thought they were one of those growlers that I hate. I like this. I'm a huge Prog fan. Queensryche, Dream Theater, Tool, Rush, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jethro Tull, just to name a few.
@@ninertactics Actually a lot of the heavier growly stuff isn't even very prevalent on this album, and on past albums is nearly nonexistent except for a few small spots
Hey guys! My wife loves this band. In fact, she did a little digging once, and discovered the most weirdly *awesome* thing - Sleep Token covering "Hey Ya" by Outcast. Seriously - check it out! Rock on! 🤘😎👍
So good. Some people hears it all...Ginger.... ;) Great reactions. Thank you. And in my humble opinion, you need to do the Sleep Token songs, that is destroying other reactors. Atlantic Are You Really Okay Euclid If not for a reaction, for your own enjoyment. Before snakes and apples :p
First time I listened to this and Chokehold it caught me totally off guard. I don't know what there was but it just opened me emotionally and it turned out there was plenty of something I tried to hide. Sucks it was during work in the office ;) Nevertheless I just can't get Sleep Token out of my head. It clicks 100% with me.
Idk if I would call sleep token progressive per se. I mean they sometimes have weird time signatures. But I think progressive I think Symphony x and Dream Theater. I would say, though, that they are very experimental in how they blend their genres.
This is my absolute fav song of theirs, I just wish, If I had made this song, I would use that part where the song first goes metal and he sings with falsetto "Take me back to Eden". That is one of their best moments/parts of any of their songs, so powerful, like a wall of sound with that beautiful bright falsetto voice. I would def drag that part out for a bit longer, also the transition after that to the rap/hiphop part and also a later transition does not feel right to me. The transitions in this song does not work as good as in other Sleep Token songs, but this is still my fav song from them along with Granite and Summoning of course.
Oh no screaming how scary! = anyone over 40 absolutely hating it. Cant hear the music anymore.. just the screaming.. not the emotion behind it. Its not just screaming its an expression. (Screamo is a genre not all screams)
@ILoveLamp-sj4bx horrible generalization. I'm 52 and love ST, Slipknot, and not only that, but many, many different genres. Even, (gasp!) hip hop. Classical, opera, greogorian chant, jazz, blues, big band, motown, r&b, flamenco, Spanish guitar, rock, folk, metal, folk metal, neo classical, and the list goes on. One day, if you're lucky, you'll be old like me and look back then realize how wrong your comment really is. Generalizations are the bastion of the non-thoughtful. Just my 2 cents.
You're so right Mike, only two. I love it when they shove the science in your face when it comes to melting the polar ice caps, or the ozone layer, and they tell you that you have to yield to and believe the science community. Yet just try to get those same people to believe in the scientific community when it comes to biology and anatomy.
Okay let me help you uneducated here. It's not your fault you get everything from one source and don't actually think. But lemme slow it down for you. "Pronouns" like "he" and "she" etc. Are societal, for example- boys shouldn't wear pink and shouldn't play with dolls, girls should. Stuff like that are gender norms, which is an expectation from you solely based on your sex. Sex is your actual biology, male and female. If someone who is biologically a female refers to themselves as "he" "him", it doesn't mean they think they are biologically male. It means they don't agree with the label that they should wear dresses and play with dolls. No one is defying biology, they are defying social norms. Pretty common sense if you use your head a little bit.
@@mattcubed9658 I would agree with you if that was the case. But that's not the case. These people aren't just simply defying the obvious. If you were actually paying attention during the last decade or so, these freaks want to let men play on women's sports teams, and use little girl's rest rooms. They want to have transvestites teaching our children, and trying to make themselves part of normal society. They want to start teaching children about gender identity and teaching them it's ok to be whatever gender you want to be. A little surgery here, and a few hormone pills there, can make it happen. They are trying to make the choice between the school and the children, and not allowing the parents to even have a say in it. So please, do us uneducated people a favor, and take your line of bullsh!t to some other groups that enjoy the freak show, and leave us simple folk to our world of mediocrity to enjoy our music and normalcy.
