Funny that you'd ask if the angel depicted here was Lucifer, because it's actually the opposite.
When Adam and Eve were forced to leave Eden, an angel was placed at its entrance with a flaming sword, so mankind could never return. The angel is wielding a scythe, rather than a sword, to symbolize the end of something rather than the defense of something. And in the statue's hand is THE apple.
It's all a metaphor for state of mind, and love. Vessel (the singer) is saying you can't go back to the way you were. The bygone days are bygones. There's no returning to the person you used to be, only accepting who you've become, and the people around you won't always accept or acknowledge that. And, as he says, no amount of love can keep things the same way they've always been if you don't put in the effort to stay that person, stay in those relationships. You have to want to be better, or you'll never be. Ignorance is bliss, and you can't unlearn something. You can't go back to Eden. You have to move forward. Even if the people around you are full of themselves, or offer empty words, you need to do what you have to to keep yourself moving.
The whole album is full of this kind of symbolism, and it's amazing.

Fun fact for sleep token. They have a band for live shows, but the albums are done by just 2 people. Vessel the lead singer also plays all of the instruments excluding the drums, then the second person is the drummer who is obviously incredible

Great reaction! Acensionism is another banger. So many great songs. They don't make bad music and you've only scratched the surface. Very much worth a deep dive.
This was a great reaction i love the meaning you got from it and i believe the Angel is the angel of death if you noticed the orbs that are floating around the figure. But also like someone else said that it could be the angel that guards the gates of eden. But keep going down the sleep token rabbit hole it's a heartbreakingi ntenense beautiful jaourney from the darkest broken parts of love and obsession to finally letting go of a lost love to finally discovering self love and moving on.

Yassss! Sleep Token are the best band I have ever come across and the recent album is definitely my AOTY! You should go down the rabbit hole now. They’re genre bending and use elements of everything from rock, metal, RnB, trap, hip hop, gospel, and more. Even if you don’t like one song don’t write them off as every song is different and as you can see from this one they switch up completely through the songs, also don’t be thrown off by some of them being 7-8 minutes long either as it goes by far too quickly. You should start at the beginning and work your way through as they tell a story and have call backs to a lot of them. The band are anonymous, I and others know who they are but won’t reveal out of respect to the band and fans but the singer goes by the moniker Vessel, drummer, who is a beast is II, bassist III and guitarist IV. From London UK. As far as their discography goes they brought out two EPs called One and Two, then 2 singles called Jaws and The Way That You Were, then the three albums Sundowning, The Place Will Become Your Tomb, then TMBTE (Take Me Back To Eden). They’ve done five covers that I’m aware of. One being Hey Ya by OutKast, I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston, Is It Really You? By Loathe and When The Party’s Over by Billie Eilish, Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. His Vocal range I believe is B ♭2 to F#5 and he has a wonderful chest voice, head voice and scream. I have never hyper fixated on a band like I have with these! Loved the react and Will subscribe and hopefully see many more. 🖤

There are essentially only 2 members of Sleep Token, Vessel sings and writes the primary work on guitars bass and piano. II is the drummer. They have more musicians who play live.

Btw the “It was no accident” and “We were tangled like branches in a flood” was a reference to another one of their songs called “Chokehold”
My favorite thing about sleep token is to see how many genres they bring together, and how many different types of people can appreciate all the things that sleep token does. And they show you that genres don’t have to stay isolated in their own niche in order to make wonderful music.

Love the callback to chokehold towards the end there there's so much nostalgia in this album it's insane i recommend going back to Sundowning album maybe on your off time and then their second album This place will become your tomb, and then a full album reaction of take me back to eden amazing album amazing trilogy they gave us.
