With near summer conditions in the middle of winter I couldnt resist an escape from the office overnight. A chance to get another night in the MSR Advance Pro 2 tent.
Andrew, thanks for allowing us to see another short over-nighter. I've got a couple of new tents which you may like to try out and review. Norrie (Linlithgow)
@@AndrewParkOutdoors Hi Andrew, I've recently bought a Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 and also have a Vango F10 Helium 2. If you'd like to try one or both of them... Norrie
Brilliant! I'm just back from a solo wild camp up Glencoe and then near Fort William. The conditions were nowhere near as good as these but all part of the experience. What a view you had up there. Definitely put that on my bucket list. Subbed
Great video with cracking views ... never been there but will now. Your vids always make me want to try something that’s contained within from new bits of gear to locations. This one is no different .... a Cointreau and a twix are what i crave now....😂
Feeling your pain Andrew with the extra weight and blowing out of my arse.. Used a Osprey Stratos 50 for a long time.. I just got myself a Osprey Exos 48.. 900 grams lighter.. Hope I feel the difference..
Hi Andrew, great series of reviews on the MSR and Sigma, I currently have a Soulo I could not resist. Not used it yet (still got tags on) but already wondering if the MSR or Sigma would be better for Scottish Winters due to lighter weight. Any thoughts or preferences?
You know you're going to survive the night in the Soulo for sure but that weight is just too high for me personally which is why i go for lighter stuff. Both the Lightwave and the MSR are great and it's a close call. For me I'd say the MSR pips it and I may buy another this winter. I love the external poles being Easton ( near unbreakable) the locked centre hub increases stability and I like lots of space inside. Breathability is an issue tho as is cooking, tho you could use a windburner and hanging kit. With the Lightwave you can cook under cover..close run thing, i just have a 'thing' for fast and light assault tents but then im doing in and out fast solo one night stuff. If it's multiple day id prob still go two skin like the MSR Access. A
@@AndrewParkOutdoors Thanks Andrew, I noticed you used the Osprey Levity 60?, how did you get on with that. Looking to use it for summer light weight multiway trekking.
Just finished the 2nd half of the WHW with it ( it's a 45 ) and it's one of my favourite bits of kit, paired down slightly in features ( I'd quite like hip pockets ) but works really well and so comfortable. A
Just watched this one Andrew. I camped on Ben A'an in a snow storm at the same spot where you pitched. You can see the photo on my website. My next climb of Ben A'an will be my 117th time on that hill - nuts I know. Regards - John.
Hi Andrew, really enjoying your videos as just getting back into the hills after a break for a few years abroad. I am looking for a winter tent and stuck between the Hilleberg Soulo and the Sigma 10. Have you tried the Soulo if so what would be your choice for a winter tent. For summer I have a Wickiup 3 and a MSR Elixir for motorcycle trips. So a pure winter tent is next. Thanks in advance, Bob.
Hi Bob, if weight isn't an issue then the Soulo has to be the way to go, just look how many folk use them. I used one for a year but the weight and relatively sheltered trips I was taking made me sell it but if weight isn't an issue you can't go wrong with them really ? A
Just to say, if you haven't already bought a new tent, you could get a 4-season tipi inner from Aliexpress and turn your Wikiup 3 into a winter tent. Tips shed wind & snow, and a 4-season inner will keep you warm. Peg out the wind guys with Delta Pegs and you should be golden. Of course don't let me stop you from buying new toys if you want... :-)
Andrew since you posted this video I watched all the others on your channel. Keep up the good work. One question. Do you have a twitter account? I would love to ask you for more info on wild camping for a newbie. Cheers.
Thanks Craig, that's some dedication, much appreciated ! Feel free to drop me any question on my Wander equipment Facebook page by PM, happy to help? Andrew
What a fantastic February overnight.... brilliant camera work as always... quality...
Cheers Adrian, much appreciated, it's all a bit ad-hoc and amateur but if I can't film it on my phone it's just not going to happen :-) A
What a wonderful view from your tent!
Cheers Caroline, small hill buy with a big view !

Andrew another good video. Great wee hill climbed it plenty of times.
I do like the idea of a firelog. Will definitely consider one for my overnighters... should lockdown EVER end!
Nice little video thanks for sharing

Barmy weather, stunning view......what's not to like? 👍
The weather was nuts these last few days, global warming could be a blessing for Scotland, mind you I like the snow too and that's been decimated !
