    What would be your "one card"? Also, let me know if you like the format of this video. I'd love to do more collaborations like this one!
    Big thanks to Sebastian, Yanely, Jason, Dustin, and David for sharing their thoughts! 😎

      THIS WAS A WONDERFUL VIDEO. ive been thinking about this a lot lately. knowing my two card setup would be amex platinum schwab and amex rose gold card. i think to choose one i would have to use the amex rose gold. personally love the exclusive color. enjoy amex all around and find the points to be flexible with travel by using transfer partners. also most of my budget gets spent on food via groceries and restaurants which the amex rose gold covers with a 4x back! that combined with the schwab cash out rate of 1.25 cents per point is ideal to always get equilavent to 5% back at the least. Thanks for the video again and love love the collaboration!

      I totally agree that we need a better superhero name. I think it should also capture the finance world (beyond credit cards) that MissBeHelpful and BeatTheBush cover regularly. “Credit Warriors” is a phrase that The Credit Shifu uses at the beginning of his videos.

      They dont accept amex at Costco tho. If they did I'd agree. Lose alot of money shopping at a regular grocery store, the 4x cant make up for . It would be a beast if I could use it tho but 2x will do for now.

      My 2nd favorite card. 4x on USA dinning, 4x on USA groceries (up to $2083 per month or $25,000 per year), 3x on airfare, $100 hotel collection credit, and multiple Amex offers.
      If it wasn't for the USA restrictions and limitations, it would be my #1 card.

    These collaborations are phenomenal. Huge props for featuring some awesome content creators whose channels I love watching!
    If I had to choose only one credit card, it would be the Costco Anywhere Visa by Citi (a cash back card).
    You earn 3% on travel and dining, and 4% on gas. These cover categories that I take advantage of on just one card (the Uber Visa doesn’t cover gas; rideshares are expensive and driving is still a better option where I live).
    Although the 2% back category is only for Costco, you can still get better value on some goods compared to what you might find in a regular supermarket.
    In terms of benefits, the Costco Visa offers a solid collection for one card. For travel, you get no foreign transaction fees, trip cancellation/interruption protection (some consider Citi’s version to be one of the better ones among credit cards), and primary CDW for international car rentals (secondary in the U.S.). Citi’s shopping protections are top-notch. They offer extended warranty for 2 years, Citi Price Rewind, and purchase protection.
    Although you can only redeem rewards once a year, you feel happy when you see a huge amount of cash back at once as opposed to seeing a monthly summary. And, depending on your spending patterns, you’ll still enjoy a substantial amount of cash back, even considering that the 2% is only for Costco purchases and 1% is for everything else.

      @TripAstute  5 лет назад +2

      The Costco card is amazing! In fact, I was just having a coffee with a friend of mine, and he was telling me how it's his "one card". 👍

    With my current spending habits in mind, I would go with the Uber Visa Card. No annual fee and high cash back rates for categories that see most of my spending. Cellphone protection is also a great perk with phone prices these days.

    I knew most of the presenters, and though none picked the card I ended up with as my one go-to, many of them liked it a lot--the Capitol One Venture X. It gives 2 points back on everything (no categories to remember), and offers $400 in points and travel credits per year--besting the $395 annual fee by $5. Priority Pass is included, as is TSA PRE credit. All the cards mentioned are solid, but I'm enjoying this as my main one.

  • @szearc

    Hmm its tough to pick just one card, but I think if I had to pick just one, it would be the CNB crystal visa... It has a great unlimited priority pass (for 2 cardholders), three free authorized users, points are worth 1.3 cents per point in their travel portal, earn rates are 3x on dining, travel, etc. similar to the CSR, has the unlimited visa infinite $100 companion credit, $250 airline incidentals credit *per cardholder* and I don't believe requires selecting the airline (unlike amexes), also includes 12 gogo inflight wifi passes, free boingo wifi, travel protections, primary car rental insurance... Also if this were my only card its possible we might actually end up hitting that high $50k spending requirement which would get another $550 airline lounge statement credit (so that would actually be a free membership to any airline lounge of choice each year)... Also as a VISA it is more widely accepted worldwide than amex...

    Picking only one credit card is hard to do. But I would probably pick the Amex Marriott Bonvoy card as I could get more than the annual fee back (Free Night) and I could use my points for more than just myself. Hotels in my opinion can be more than flights, especially for places like Ski Resorts.

    I'll never understand the "start off with CSP" mentality. Just get CSR, Amex Gold, or Altitude Reserve right off the bat. For pretty much everyone, the additional benefits greatly outweigh the meager difference in effective annual fees.

    • @TripAstute
      @TripAstute  5 лет назад +1

      I think the "sticker shock" with the annual fee can be hard, especially for those getting started. While I agree with your assessment, I think the thought of paying $450 upfront for a credit card can be tough to swallow, especially when you're new to the hobby.

    I agree that the Chase Sapphire Reserve is an excellent card. The $300 reimbursement for travel (Chase being very liberal about their definition of "travel" expenses and that is a good thing). The TSA precheck or Global Entry reimbursement is great ($85/$100 value). The Priority Pass ($100) is good if your main airport is one with one of their lounges (but you need to have the membership card on you and pay extra if you have a party of more than 3). The travel insurance, auto insurance for rental cars, trip delays (~$500 per ticket), lost luggage insurance, etc. is that extra bit that makes it worth to keep. I got it when it had 150,000 point sign up and never regretted it.

    The CSR is still the best single travel card out there. The combination of points earning, redemption flexibility, insurances, and lounge access is top notch. Although I think the citi prestige is a contender in this. I don’t have much interest in the card in the real world. But with this hypothetical 1 card situation it’s really strong. Good point earning, lounge access, the best travel insurance, 4th night free. The knock on it though, is the more expensive effective annual fee and less valuable points and transfer options compared to the CSR.

    I have CSR since the beginning when the bonus was 100K. It's been great since we travel overseas once annually and several shorter holiday trips every year. So easy to earn back $300. Lounge access in maybe overseas airports have been awesome. I now also have the Freedom card just for the quarterly bonus.

    Sorry Trip Astute for commenting so late as we have Hockey playoffs and Basketball plus jobs there aren't enough hours in the day.
    The 1 credit card I would pick for travel would be Capitol1 Venture1
    For cash back would either be Discover or American Express basic blue cash card.
    I have a couple questions if an airline has a one world alliance can you transfer miles to that airline and fly on it's partner?
    example let's say United is an alliance of Avianco as we all know Venture miles don't have any transfer partners to US carriers. so Can I transfer miles to Avianco and then fly on Delta or United whoever is an alliance? is this possibile?
    only 1 question.

    • @TripAstute
      @TripAstute  5 лет назад

      Hi Mark! In theory, you should be able to do it. Though there are cases where an airline will limit the award flight availability for partner flights, so make sure you scope it out before transferring the points over (to be safe). 🤓

    • @TripAstute
      @TripAstute  5 лет назад

      It's not bad, but depending on the amount of travel that you do, you might be better off earning a flexible points currency like Chase UR or Amex MR. A lot of folks are able to get more value from these types of programs since you are often able to redeem each point at a higher value than you would when you're locked into a specific brand. That being said, it's also a lot more work to manage these point programs. 😄

    Or The World of Hyatt. Hyatt is probably the best transfer partner for Chase UR points it gets a free night so I'm already getting positive value and their multipliers are the best out of most hotel cards

    Great idea for this video, Ernest! Like everyone was saying, this was like the Avengers:End Game but for credit cards. Very exciting. If I had to pick one card, it would have to be the American Express Gold Card. The 4x bonus categories and the $220 in credits make this card worth it to me. Only thing that I would change is the travel protections that @Waller's Wallet mentioned in his video. If somethings goes wrong, American Express doesn't have your back. :( Luckily, out of all the vacations I have taken in my 33 years on this Earth, I have never had to cancel a trip or been delayed. So, I feel like missing out on this benefit is fine with me. And I don't do much foreign travel. I am very interested in Chase credit cards, but I am over my 5/24. I'll have to wait 2 years quietly. Keep up the nice work for all your fans and happy travels.
