Artwork like the one above is really what helps elevate Sonic CD as the legendary game that it is. It really has everything you can love about not just Sonic but any action platformer ever. Coming out at a time where the legacy of the series as it stood was on the constant up and up. This game above most of the others had it all, the adventure, the vistas, a wilderness about its landscapes, mystery, traveling through time to prevent a potential and irreparable disaster, epic confrontations, speed, and a little innocent romance sprinkled in on top of it. All that and much more is what makes this game legendary for me, the full package as you could call it. Their may never be another game quite like it.
I just wish the game was a bit more consistent. While you do have those amazing zones like Palmtree Panic and Stardust Speedway that will leave you in wonder as you dash through their gorgeous landscapes, you also have over-designed stages like Collision Chaos and Wacky Workbench where exploration is more of a chore than anything. I think Scott the Woz puts it best: “At its best it’s the best, at its worst it’s the worst.”

I feel that the American good future soundtrack has a feel of everything being said and done, there is nothing left for Sonic or, by extension, the player. However, I like the Japanese good future themes better as they capture the feeling of a utopia, a safe haven, that life can continue to thrive in beyond the limits of the game.
Sonic CD is my favorite Classic game of all time! The super peel-out, the saving a girl from harm, traveling through time, racing against an evil doppleganger of yourself, and collecting time stones!?! WAY PAST COOL!!!!

After watching a bit of the Sonic Movie not too long ago on my TV, I went into a full Sonic Mode and bought Mania during the sale, reinstalling my copy of Adventure 2, started watching Boom and X on Netflix, and went cycling listening to Stardust Speedway 2 from Mania, and in the corner of my playlist, this song appeared. I remember putting this as my alarm, ringtone and just jammin' to it on my way to school. When Jahn's on the track, the future is always looking bright. This is an awesome remix and I absolutely loved it. Favorite segment had to be the original bit at around the two minute mark.

Good Future: Stardust Speedway is now a full-on amusement park, with residents of little planet visiting it. Spikes have been removed, Metal Sonic has been destroyed, and the place is free overall. It really is a good future.

This would've made a fine "Act 3" theme for Sonic Mania's version of Stardust Speedway if it had been given a 3rd act.
The Sonic CD levels should've had 3 acts. Act 1 is Past, Act 2 is Present, Act 3 is Future.
Speaking of 3 acts, in the games files there used to be and act 3 thing in Sonic Mania but was scrapped.
