Just received mine today. Such a strange feeling using electrical brush for the first time. Wasn't even shore if I've done it right 😁 so thanks for the video.
Fyi, after the cleaning I can't stop touching my teeth with my tongue, feel so amazed by how smooth they are!
Glad you feel your teeth are so clean!

Let me know what you think of it Sally once you have used it for a few days.

Brand new toothbrush come pre charged for first use so no charge is required
@@pn6114 I'm sure after 7 months she's finally used it a couple times.
According to the technical specifications I researched of this model (ProtectiveClean 4100), it generates 62,000 strokes per minute. However, the “Sonicare DailyClean” toothbrush generates 31,000 strokes per minute.
I believe the specifications you have seen are wrong. Both models offer 31,000 strokes per minute. This is equivalent to 62,000 movements per minute. The 4100 does not offer 62,000 strokes per minute.
@@ElectricTeeth Does all models of Sonicare offer the same top power or speed?
Yes. There are 1 or 2 odd exceptions but the vast majority do.
i'm curious how the RFID functionality keeps track of how long 3 months is. does it have a clock inside that keeps track of the actual amount of time that has passed, or does it just assume you're brushing twice a day, and when it hits 180 sessions then it tells you to replace the head?
edit- i contacted phillips and asked about it and they said it's based on frequency of sessions. if you brush twice a day then it will light up every 3 months, once a day should be every 6 months, and 3 times a day would be every 2 months. it also apparently keeps track of how much pressure you use and how aggressive you are with it, and using excessive pressure will wear it out faster, causing the replacement light to go off sooner. interesting.
this seems like it would be easy to keep track of yourself though in order to circumvent having to buy the more expensive specialty heads, if it indicates to you when you're using excessive force. just be mindful to use proper pressure, stick to two minute sessions, just do a bit of math, and put a reminder into google calendar or your iphone's calendar to replace them at the proper interval and you can use whatever brush head you want. if you brush twice a day then you already know the interval- 3 months. you could place the entries into your calendar for several years of time into the future, and it would only take a few minutes of sitting down at your computer and entering them all into the calendar and your phone will ping you a notification to replace it every 3 months. it's not as if it works flawlessly with the same consistency for two months and 29 days, and then on the 30th day, brush quality drops off a cliff. degradation is a gradual process, and how well it works from day one to day 180 is a gradient of decreasing effectiveness. if you end up using a non-RFID brush head for a week or two longer past the recommended 13 weeks than it would have indicated, had you used the special heads, it's not like your teeth are going to go to shambles. maybe an extra 2 or 3% of plaque would be left behind, but it takes a lot longer than that for significant decay to develop, which is inhibited even further by brushing at all, even with a head that is just barely past it's prime. i guess the slight premium you pay for the RFID brush heads is to not worry about it at all.
Thanks for the comment.
Your edit to the original comment which includes the Sonicare customer services reply is indeed correct and details how it works.
We cover how it works in our video 'Sonicare BrushSync Explained' ruclips.net/video/TnC0pJjScoI/видео.html as this tracking function is part of Sonicare BrushSync technology.
It is indeed something you could track yourself. However, what Sonicare are trying to do is make it easier for people who might not do this or forget. Our own research found that 4 in 10 people (42%) do not change their toothbrush /brush head every 3 months (Source: www.electricteeth.com/dental-statistics/).
You certainly have the right logic in using the right pressure and sticking to 2 minute brushing sessions and you are indeed quite right, you can continue to use a brush head for longer than 3 months. 3 months is just the ideal amount of time for the 'average' user.
As a result, you don't need to buy the more expensive brush heads, nor do you need to buy a brush that has this technology in. However, the 4100 is one of Sonicare's cheaper brushes and you are not necessarily paying a premium.
Compare this to the Oral-B equivalent, the Pro 1000. It sells for about the same money, does not have a brush head tracking and has worse battery life.
Ultimately it is a feature you can use, if you want.
I bought my first Sonicare 3 years ago (I think it was the Essence but can't be sure because there doesn't seem to be a name on the brush handle). Anyway, I loved it so a couple of months ago, I decided to upgrade a bit and get the Protective Clean 4100. Thing is, the vibrations on the new brush are so strong that my G3 brush head feels like a "hard" bristled brush! When I use the same head on my old brush, I can feel how soft and gentle it is. I get a nice soft hum from the handle, too. But with this new one, it is a) super loud, and b) feels like it's stinging my gums Kinda hurts a bit and I feel like I have to use NO pressure, just kinda glide over the surfaces when brushing. So now I'm thinking, which one is "normal"? My instinct says the old one but came here to ask. The difference in strength is night and day on these two brushes, so have I been using a faulty (underpowered) brush for 3 years, or is the one I bought recently faulty (overpowered)? I'm actually kind of afraid to use the C2 brush that came with it. Can't imagine how hard it's going to feel. lol. Also, I feel like I could be damaging my gums with it being so strong, even with the G3. Can't return my new brush so it might turn out to be a waste, but I'd rather toss it than to keep using it if it's going to cause damage. Any advice?
Without experiencing your brushes myself I can't say for sure. I am inclined to say your old model was/is less powerful. Thus, the 4100 is 'normal'.
It shouldn't cause any damage to your teeth or gums.
Do you have a dental checkup due any time soon? Perhaps you could take the brushes with you and speak to your dentist and get their opinion.
I am in the same boat, Srsly Sylli. This thing feels like it's going to demolish my mouth. When the white brush shaft touches my other teeth I'm afraid it'll jack hammer the enamel off them. The insane strength of the vibrations makes my whole mouth tingle and itch in super-unpleasant way. Everyone else seems to dig it so maybe I'm just doing something wrong or incorrect in my expectations. Will give it a few days but so far really disliking this thing.
So useful, thank you so much!!!

There was a space in the box that seems to be for the travel case and even shows it in the manual but they don’t seem to provide it. Seemed odd.
I've had Essence plus model I got free through a promotion. It went missing, becauseI think my kids took it. It was very basic but seemed to not clean as well. I was going to get a Sonic Diamond Clean at Costco when it was on sale but I just got one at Fred Meyer store (Krogers) for $39.99+(-$5 instant coupon)=$34.99. not to bad. I just used it today and I have that back from the dentist clean on my teeth. I like that it doesn't have all the tech settings because I think it's too much of a hassle when I'm in a hurry. I have a Oral B with all the smart tech bells and whistles, and I still used only the default settings anyway. Press, timer and shut off, done.
Thanks for sharing Leta. Glad you have that dentist clean feeling.
Does the pressure sensor, head replacement reminder and quad pacer come already activated in this brush, or do you have to activate those yourself ?? Thank u
They usually come activated by default Katlyn.
Hey do you have any toothpaste recommendations
We sure do. www.electricteeth.com/best-toothpaste/
Sorry, we haven't turned this content into a video yet.
I just bought it since it was on sale. I was kind of bummed to read it only lasts 2weeks however like you, tons of others on the net say you get way longer than 2 weeks. So that is good.
On the brush head?
@@GS-kj6ur I think hes talking about the battery
Bro who brushes their teeth for 2 weeks
I’ve had this for over 2 years and I’ve never had an issue with it running out of battery in 2 weeks in fact it’s lasted longer than that

Why does the green light flash ALL the time ??? When it is charged does the light turn Red ??? I didn't get INSTRUCTIONS with mine

@@ElectricTeeth THANKS
About to buy this at $30 right now, just watching reviews first
Is there a way to buy softer brush head what would I look for?
Yes there is. You could look for the S Sensitive or G2 Optimal Gum Care head.

Or even more in this article: www.electricteeth.com/philips-sonicare-heads/

i ordered it on eBay for $34 and new unopened box. It's on its way so have not used it so yet.
Good price. You should be impressed with it that for that price.
yup got it for $25 after a coupon. Love eBay!
Larisa Lindemann I just ordered one how is it
Hello what tooth brush brand last longer ? Oral b or sonicare ?
If you don't use a brush head with the brush sync technology, will the pressure sensor still work?
Yes, tit will.
Is it compatible with older version of click-in sonicare brush head? I have a lot of old version brush heads never used so it is an important consideration for me
Yes all click-on style brush heads should work with this.
Question does it track more than one brush head at a time ?
It certainly should do.
I think what this person is referring to is they switch between multiple brush head daily would it track all of them on the same base which is kinda weird
Yes I understand. As far as I am aware it will track multiple brush heads at the same time.
I just saw $29 at ROSS store in CA . But I found sonicare 3 series HX6631/24 for $39 at Ross . I bought it
I just bought one of these for a Black Friday price of $29 because I found out my original Sonicare tooth brush from 10+ years ago (e series?) doesn't seem to take a charge. Instead of buying $20 replacement heads I decided to buy a new toothbrush. After hearing about the brush replacement, it seems like it's just a way for Phillips to say, "It's time to give us more money."
That is a great price Gary.
I understand your point of view on Sonicare brush heads and their price. You can always be assured of the quality with them but there are aftermarket options (or non brushsync enabled) heads available, which are more cost effective.
I was trying to disable the timer and while it was on its charging stand, I held the power button in for 5 seconds and there were several beeps going down. Then I held it in for another 5 seconds and there were several beeps going up. What happened when I did this? Google isn't helping
It sounds like you have enabled/disabled the pressure sensor or the brush head replacement reminder system.
There is no ability (as far as I am aware) to disable the timer.
Go to page 15 of the manual available on this link and it explains how to activate and disable functions. www.documents.philips.com/assets/20201024/cacbe18039ab4793a417ac5e0063bffd.pdf?_gl=1*gx42hh*_ga*NTE3MjI0ODQzLjE1OTc0NzczOTI.*_ga_2NMXNNS6LE*MTY0NTEwMjk0OC4yNTUuMS4xNjQ1MTAyOTcwLjM4*_fplc*WjR5YjVGblI3YnNZRHlsUGNxMTVmaWRRZmwzRTh4QkFOV1FYdUlNMmVDaiUyQjBzRyUyQjNsZnJhTURrbkhzS0FiQWhWWiUyRjZXb2RlaFZUa3RHTnVhVGgzR0c1VkE5TjVwNFRqVjExSm9vSWlhbHF3JTJGTm1xcGUzdkRhTWJwNSUyQk9LdyUzRCUzRA..*_ga_Q243QQ1P76*MTY0NTEwMjk0OC40NC4xLjE2NDUxMDI5NzAuMzg.&_ga=2.149082102.190313331.1645102949-517224843.1597477392
How to change the battery? And can you get the battery at any store ?
The battery is not designed to be user replaceable. It is likely technically possible to do it, but we can't advise on the procedure and where to source the battery from.
Travel case? A Ziploc bag is good enough.

@@ecodvc5074 basic toothbrush is all need. No need for this electronic crap
@@001looker electric toothbrush are more effective
It’s also more likely for you to just throw away a ziplock
Gross lol
Can you keep this on the charging stand at all times when not using it?
Yes, you can.
I just bought one today for 29 dollars regular price was 59.99 black friday deal
Brilliant price. You will be very pleased with that.
Same
I bought one at Shoprite this week, they had a two day special for 25.00, 1/2 off. My question is do I have to keep it on the charger all the time or do will it let me know then I have to put it on the charger. Would it be best to totally let it die out at least once a month. They say to do that with my iPad. Would that extend the battery life.
That is an amazing price! Probably, the cheapest I have ever heard of it being.
No, you do not need to keep in on the charger all the time.
It gives you feedback via the battery status light.
A solid green LED means a full battery
A flashing green LED means a medium battery
A flashing amber LED and three beeps mean a low battery.
A flashing amber LED and five beeps mean no brushing sessions left.
So, yes it will tell you when it needs charging.
You don't have to let it die out completely, but getting low is good, because then you are recharging the battery fully rather than continually topping it up.
However, don't worry too much. The battery life and reliability are good and quite honestly it is hard to say that doing this will really extend the battery's usable life. It should, but by how long is really tricky to say.
How Does This One Compare To The oral-B Pro 1000 Sense There Both Around 50$ i Was Just Wondering Which is A Better Value
Hi Jonathan. The Oral-B Pro 1000 is another strong contender. It doesn't have quite as good battery life or the clever BrushSync technology, but it is still not a bad buy. If you like Oral-B, you might want to consider the Oral-B Pro 1500. Its a little more expensive but has a better battery life and a pressure sensor built in.
How many strokes per minute?
This has 31,000 strokes per minute.
Thought it was 40,000?!
No. 31,000 strokes or 62,000 movements. 👍
@@ElectricTeeth thank yu
I'm thinking to buy it bc I bought some cheap one from right aid battery operated and it took a sh*t. Lol so thanks for replying
I'm thinking of buy this but, I have a small mouth. Dose anyone know if the brush head is small
It is not as small as the round brush heads from Oral-B. Sonicare did/does make some compact (smaller) heads, but they are hard to come by. Third party companies do make them, but you won't benefit from the BrushSync features unless using the original Sonicare heads.
What would you recommend for first timers?
This is the brush I recommend most frequently. It delivers a great clean and features for the price.
@@ElectricTeeth What is your opinion on where to buy brush heads? From sonicare themselves the C2 Optimal Plaque Control (which you recommended as the best general type of brush head) but on their amazon they are a whopping 25 bucks for only 3 brush heads, do you think it's best to just suck it up and buy from them? Or do you have any suggestion as to a third party brush head vendor on amazon that's similar to the C2 Optimal Plaque Control at a cheaper price? I've tried to find and there are many options but I don't know which is best, I remember buying a pack on amazon that were compatible with the 4100 but they didn't clean teeth as good as the originals :(
John, good question. From a quality and reliability point of view, buying the official ones, be that from Philips or Amazon is best.
I have the same personal struggle. They seem very expensive for what they are and ultimately this is where they make their money.
There are LOADS of compatible brush heads that will work and are a fraction of the price. I can't necessarily say 1 brands is much better or worse than another. I do make a couple of recommendations in this post: www.electricteeth.com/cheap-aftermarket-alternative-oral-b-sonicare-brush-heads/
The key things to really note/be aware of, which I am sure you already know.
Cheaper ones are not necessarily the best quality. Doesn't always apply but you may find bristles wear easier.
Third party heads will not work with the brush head replacement reminder system.
Third party heads may not have fading indicator bristles to tell you when they need replacing.
Thirds party heads tend to have rough cut bristles, rather than rounded tips which can make for a slightly sharper and abrasive brushing sensation.
I might sound like I am being overly critical here, just trying to point out the key differences.
Oh and technically Sonicare say they don't support third party heads....
@@ElectricTeeth Great reply. You guys do amazing work and are beyond awesome, thanks!!
I just got one for $30 at the black Friday sale at Best Buy
That's a great price. 👍
Can this be used for titanium implants?
Yes.
LMAO I have had this brush sitting in my cabinet for a while now after recieving it as a gift but thought it was defective because it would do that weird vibration every 30 seconds and I didn't know it was a timer. I should have read the manual because I didn't know and last battery powered toothbrush I used was from the early 2000s and ran off of AA batteries. I should buy some new heads and give it another shot.
Is a USB charger available for purchase separately?
Sonicare do not sell a USB charging stand, but other companies do sell them.
The ProtectiveClean model does not use USB charge hence you can find it on other models like the DiamondClean Smart series 9700 and 9400 and the regular Diamondclean, they has USB charging travel case. You can also find a charging travel case to the FlexCare whitening that is being sold in Costco exclusively. The DiamoneClean with Qi charging as well.
I never got thr travel case on mines when I purchased the box at Target🤧
Did you guys even watch the video? No hope for society smh
These people are actually stupid
Does it help with teeth whitening?
This can help remove surface stains on the teeth that might cause the natural tooth color to dull. By cleaning the teeth effectively, it helps remove these stains and restore the natural color of the teeth, so in theory making them look whiter.
Electric Teeth thanks! I will buy it soon!
How long does the brush last roughly?
Hi Cindy.
I presume you mean in terms of battery life, the time between charges rather than how long until the whole toothbrush will last before it needs replacing?
Sonicare suggest a minimum of 2 weeks (14 days) of use between charges.
That is 28 brushing sessions, each lasting 2 minutes.
Whilst Sonicare suggest this, in my hands-on testing I achieved around 5 weeks, which is more than double that.
Can this use the same brush heads that come with the 5100?
Yes you can.
You can use any sonicare Snap-on or click -on brush heads for this toothbrush. The replacement brush head reminder will work Using the premium ones like W3, C3, G2 etc.
Bought one and I notice that it splashes water into my face while rinsing under water. Is this normal? I have an older Sonicare and i don't have this problem
Tom, is this not to do with the angle at which you hold/position the toothbrush under the water?
@@ElectricTeeth No .happens at any angle. I think it must be defective.
Not entirely sure how...water will naturally splashback against a surface of bristles to some extent...
Lol...what he can’t really tell you but probably wants to is that if this is seriously a problem you’re just a moron.
Idiot don’t keep the toothbrush on while rinsing it
FYI: i just found this model at Walgreens for $40.
Thx!
Can i replace the brush head with a regular one? Or it must be the special one? Thanks!
You can replace the head with a regular one Francisco. Just be aware, by doing so, you lose out on the system that tells you when to replace your brush head.
@@ElectricTeeth Thank you!
I just bought it but feel so harsh to my teeth, why?
Have you used an electric toothbrush before?
@@ElectricTeeth no, first time.
It might take a bit of getting used to. It should be switched on, but refer to the manual and ensure the 'Easy-Start' feature is turned on. This gradually increases the cleaning power.
If you still are not used to it in a week or so then maybe its not for you, but I suspect its lack of familiarity and the teeth and gums feeling more sensitive.
@@ElectricTeeth Ok thank you, i will try the easy start feature.
I agree! I wanted multiple speeds if you will.
Can I use oral b replacement brushes on this ???
No, you cannot.
$12 per brushhead?? They sell on eBay for $3
Probably not the ones with the RFID chip in them. But yes, it is possible to get cheaper aftermarket alternatives. They wont have the RFID chips though.
