AppleInsider Sounds like the Bluetooth is just a timer, it doesn’t have any kind of sensors telling toothbrush where it is in the mouth or if something was really cleaned or not, it just sees toothbrush is on and to brush each section for 20 seconds. So why have Bluetooth? Any toothbrush can have a timer, what does the Bluetooth do?
Oral b works better than Sonicare. Due to the fact that Oral b round brushes adapt to the teeth better than sonicare. The only thing you gotta do with an Oral b is to hold it over a tooth surface. How can you track on the app if you have two people using same handle different brushes or will it show the two usages? Ie if you and your wife use one handle with different brush heads
I had mine for 2 years. The toothbrush is really nice but the app is horrible and full of bugs. It never connects and never shows where the toothbrush is in the mouth. It's amazing how horrible the the apps 2 years later.
Mother in law got the whole family the 9700 series on sale . I noticed the brush heads go out eventually virtually not physically by that it makes it seem like a your battery on the device is not charging simply change the head on ur device and you will get the 3 bars of power instead of 1 on the last few uses on your head. What I do is I use the same head that is apparently "old" and I throw it on a different device in the house "my lady's handle" and it doesn't recognise that the old head is used up so it go's back to full power by default.
We bought it, downloaded the app, and do not see the coverage feature, just the timer. I called Philips and they're clueless. I figured I'll check here before returning it. Thank you.
Hi, Just having problems with my iPhone connecting via Bluetooth... My iPhone doesn't like my car anymore either! I'm annoyed yet again with my iPhone, but will persevere...
Been using these for over 10 years and came to conclusion that wireless charging ruins your battery as i went though at least 8 of them; fixed, rebuilt, replaced internal components and batteries.
Been using the DiamonClean since 2014, still running good. Maybe not as powerful as its first day. But still holds charge for almost 2 weeks without any other problem.
I just bought one like this but the $30 version. I put it near my boom touch speaker and it made a loud buzzing noise that sounded like the noise the brush made but amplified which makes me wonder if this brush can be modded to play music. I may try that when this thing kicks the bucket.
My app looks very diffrent from that one and it doesnt show me the 3d teeth, even though i have the same model of toothbrush, Can anyone help with this?
This toothbrush has an outrageously bad "privacy" policy. The app, and therefore all the "smart" features, will not run unless the user signs off on unrestricted archiving, use, and third-party sharing of all the information the the app and and toothbrush gather, and this information is detailed and ongoing. There's no ability to opt out of this without disconnecting the app from the toothbrush and giving up the "smart" features that you paid for. This policy is far more uncompromising and intrusive than those for other devices like Fitbit smart watch, Withings health devices, or Apple Watch.
Agree Chris, we all to often "trust" apps since we are so busy with other things. But we need to aware of our information being siphoned off without our knowledge. Battery life issues, no warranty help from Philips, etc. I just went back to trying to manually brush 3X a day, salt water rinse, and floss after each meal. A little more inconvenient but no tech issues to bother with. And my GUM brand brush was $3.95.
Wish I knew this before I just purchased one but u know what I wasn't going to use the app anyway like what for? I just paid the extra for the extra clean it's meant to be better than the rest
Goals are essentially a way of "gamifying" the experience. By creating goals, streaks, etc it gives people more incentive to keep going. Similar to those on the Apple Watch to get people to stand or exercise. It is proven to work a subtle aspect to it. Custom goals can also detail things people wish to improve. Such as focusing on a certain area in the mouth. The app will allocate additional time to these "goal zones" to make sure they get properly cleaned, without neglecting the rest of the mouth. -Andrew
Thank you for the clarification about "gamifying" the experience. I'm a bit old school in that I've taken care of my teeth through my 47 years on earth without the need for games (and I've yet to have a single cavity), but if this electronic toothbrush helps the younger generation avoid cavities, then such makes it worthwhile in the end. Regardless, I appreciate your excellent review.
I have this. But I still prefer the manual, really. I feel that my toothbrush routine is not complete without my manual brush. I only use it twice a week.

AppleInsider 15 years of using Oral B and having my dentist tell me to get out of her chair I’m not making her any money...seems like a good testimony for Oral B to me. 😉

I finally bought one. So the toothbrush can detect where it’s positioned in your mouth the same way a Nintendo wii remote can detect how it’s oriented. Works alright, not perfect, but it can tell if you’re brushing back or the front of teeth but can’t tell if you’re brushing the top or bottom of your front teeth
Completely unnecessary product. Great review though, i see you’ve improved a lot with your confidence and vocalisation since you first started. Keep it up my good sir ✌🏽
Looks like a marketing gimmick, to trick people out of their money.. I'd be shocked if these high tech features actually yielded better results over much cheaper electric toothbrushes..
As another commentator stated, we don’t need Bluetooth nor apps to brush our teeth. This is exactly like needing smart toilet paper in order to determine if our asses have been satisfactorily cleaned of all fecal matter residue. Provide the best motors, materials, batteries, chargers and warranty and let humans use technology rather than be slaves to it.
I Get Buckets "Slaves" of technology? Wtf? This bluetooth feature allows you to brush your teeth much better, this improves your health. Why wouldn't you want this? (Price aside).
@@fanATIc666x Probably China, but at least most of my money (minus production costs) will go into Phillips' tax hiding somewhere and not directly to China like it would if I purchased from the Chinese company! :P

Hi, Just having problems with my iPhone connecting via Bluetooth... My iPhone doesn't like my car anymore either! I'm annoyed yet again with my iPhone, but will persevere...
I Googled can I use my HSA for Sonicare. There is a form to be completed by your Dentist and you can use your HSA.

Just got a new one my last diamond clean didn’t even last a full year. At least it was under warranty. It was the battery as well
Outstanding review, best I’ve seen.
for APP: The location sensor tracks your coverage--> if yellow part means clean and white part means missing to brush part ??
Same question

I thought Sonic Technology only produces 31000 strokes per minute? 62000 is the number of strokes per cycle.
No it is 62000 movements per minute.
That's the older model. The one without the pressure sensor
My app looks very diffrent from that one and it doesnt show me the 3d teeth, even though i have the same model of toothbrush, Can anyone help with this?
Do the toothbrush and app detect cavities?

Hooooooo security......😂
Can you use the tongue head on this one? Or only on the 9500?
Can two people share the same Diamondclean Smart (using seperate brush heads and seperate app accounts)?
Yes, why not
Setting goals for brushing teeth... Now I've heard it all! Not sure I need one, but thanks for the great review!

I love mine! Thanks!
I have this. But I still prefer the manual, really. I feel that my toothbrush routine is not complete without my manual brush. I only use it twice a week.
Is the case a charging case? If so, how do you charge the case?
The case has to be connected to a usb charger in order to charge. The case itself can’t be charged.
