What did you think of Luka's response in Game 4? Do the Mavs have a shot?
Realistically, no. Coming back being down 3-0 is a statistical anomaly to surmount; no teams but the 51 Knicks, 94 Nuggets, and the 03 Blazers have even been able to force a Game 7.
As much as I'd like to see the Celtics and their sorbet-like playstyle burn in the 2nd hottest fires of hell(FTL 4 life) they've got this thing. If for some reason I'm wrong(I DID call Mavs in 6) I will be overjoyed to admit that too.
I loved to see them put up a fight, but this looked more like desperation effort. Boston looked like they were mailing it in to have a shot to win the series at home. Luka responded to the defensive criticism, which was good. The Mavs supporting cast finally showed up, also a positive. I would love to see a game six...not hopefull though.
Obviously slim, but DAL 100% figured something out offensively. They finally decided to attack BOS’ matchups and switching with more double drags (why it took 3 games I’ll never understand) and off-ball action to get the switches THEY wanted instead of just resigning themselves to Luka Kyrie pure iso ball. It’s easy to dismiss this as a pride game, chalk it up to desperation, and flush it-but for the first time they posed some legitimate questions Mazzulla and the Celtics will actually have to think about. If the offense gets easier, effort on defense which is mental as much as physical gets easier, which leads to opportunities for even easier offense.
There won’t be another blowout, but BOS just opened themselves up to psychopath Luka in a road game 5. You are now starting to fly a bit closer to that sun than you realize. I personally don’t believe BOS has any chance to win a game 7 at home vs Luka. I still expect they’ll get it done since they are the better team, but I actually think they’re gonna have to do it in Dallas game 6. Mavs fans can only warn people so many times before they FAFO firsthand, but if you give Luka any opportunity, especially in your building, he won’t just try to kill you, he will take your soul. Ask PHX, UTA, MIN fans if that’s a particularly fun experience lol. Win one more game then things might get interesting real quick.

Of course they do. People keep talking about Boston as I’ve they’ve been a monster in this series. They have scored 106, 105, 107 and 84pts. The Mavs up to game 4 had just missed a lot of good looks. If Mavs figured out something offensively in the last 5 quarters, they can win game 5.
One thing with this Mavs all playoffs is they get better as the series progresses. Let's see if the hole is just too deep
I actually thought it was over for the mavericks already but this win looks like they got some sort of hope still. If they win game 5 this is going to be a crazy come back series and thats if they can get to a game 7 which looks like they potentially can with the defense that they were playing tonight. They were playing great D also being super physical/guarding interior better and contesting all their 3's. Also the roleplayers like derrick jones jr, pj, and exum came through knocking down some 3's tonight. Lively and Gafford those 2 guys looked like the x factor tonight big block from Gafford on tatum from the 3. Boston just looked deflated and couldnt get in rhythm especially in that 1st half. In order for dallas to keep the series going is all the teammates has to show up not just luka and kyrie only, everybody else has to like how they did tonight
Exum was key in pushing the pace.
When Luka or Kyrie bring it up, they get harrassed by defenders. Exum is always pushing it up, and no one ever guards him until he’s near the three point line or in the paint

A thought exercise would be asking if anyone would like Dallas’ chances more had they won game 3 instead of game 4 bcuz it’d still be 1-3, but there would be no 0-3 stigma, even though mathematically it’s the same odds of coming back from 1-3 regardless whether it was ever 0-3 it’s just a coincidence it has never happened bcuz many of those 156 times were sweeps and it’s rare to come back from 1-3. Once it became 1-3 it became possible for Dallas to win it all and Boston has gotta be feeling pressure bcuz if they don’t win Monday, Dallas will steal all the momentum.
One thing I noticed is that the Mavs have pushed the ball and was passing more. Not too much slowing down for the Celtics to settle on defense as much.

@deuceandmo wouldn’t be shocked if kidd placed a celtics championship shirt in each of the players lockers. and then cuban order the champagne to accident get wheeled into the locker room before the game started to piss off the players.
one thing we noticed while at the game was the mavs were all business. they were happy when a good play happens but it was different like we got more work to do. something was said or shown to the players that flipped a switch for them. records are meant to be broken sooner or later somebody is going to come back from 0-3 and betting against an angry luka is never a good idea. the texas rangers won the whole thing while never losing a road game and being the last team to make the playoffs which has never happened before in baseball. why can’t the mavs do something special bc it would be one for the ages if it does happen
I’d be satisfied If Luka never got another triple double if he’d just play defense like tonight.

Not worried about this game tbh. The Celtics had a letdown. It is natural. No team has ever come back from 0-3. And no great team in nba history has avoided getting blown out. Some nights you just don’t have it.
And no team that has lost by 38+pts has ever won a Finals. All this history stuff at times doesn’t matter. Can Mavs win game 5 should be the only question. No need to look at a game 7.

The only thing the Mavs won is that they didn’t get swept. The funny thing about this series is that Boston is dominant over the Mavs, but Denver and maybe even the Lakers would have taken Boston’s to 7. OKC even matched up with Boston better than Dallas. But Dallas dominated OKC. It’s all about getting the right matchup in a series.

Just remember they stole the game on the Mavericks in 2006 and credited Dwyane Wade for going through the free-throw line 30 fucking times game, yeah Tim Donahey admitted it up 2-0 they beat Miami the last 10 games they’ve played them it made for a better story with Shaq splitting from Kobe the NBA so fucking rigged I’m a. Maverick fan and I’m still pissed about that They stole from Miami in 2011 and gave it to Dallas because they had to make it up to Dallas because of timTim donahey he admitted that he threw the series in 2006 and went to prison for it.

You’re a Dallas fan and you think the nba stole it from the heat that series? I don’t think you know what you were watching. Dwayne wade and the heat went out and took the series. D wade went on one of the most dominant series I’ve ever seen. Flash in peak prime was incredible. In no way did the nba took that series from Miami.
The Celtics will have a great response to this in game 5 at home. So far everything is going according to plan. Celtics in 5.
