It reminds me of the Tatum draft pick oddly.
Like in that draft, Fultz was the obvious pick for #1 and Tatum was in the mix with a few other prospects for the second spot (woulda been 2nd but the Lakers let Lavar control who they drafted 😂) and the Celtics with the #1 pick decided to trade back and take Tatum, some were very confused by this considering how good Fultz had looked.
Now Ime was the sure thing. He changed the dynamic of this team entirely, but then something happened where they felt they had to move on. Boston had multiple great assistants (some had already left for other head coaching jobs) and yet they chose some dude who was in the second row last season?
Both of these choices confused many, then made many realize why the franchise was so confident in these choices.

I'm not going to lie, as a Celtics fan, last season I was so frustrated by Joe's coaching (especially the lack of timeouts) in the beginning but had to give him the benefit of the doubt due to him being thrown into the deep after the Ime situation. This season I can't point out anything he did wrong and you can see how good of a coach he is after putting together his own staff & having a proper training camp with the players.. I'm impressed of how he made all the players buy in & finally win a championship.

I'm still amazed with what he was able to do at the last minute essentially. He learned a lot and it paid off huge. I was just as unsure as other Celtics fans but what really turned me around was that interview he did with JJ Redick right before the Jrue trade. He just felt so raw and relatable, and hearing his story of how he came up as a coach was pretty awesome to hear. He just kept his head down and did his job but held himself to a high standard, and he was rewarded with the opportunity of a lifetime.

Yeah, I notice it as well. I’m agnostic myself, but I just don’t understand the strange reactions to someone referencing their faith in the ways that he does - it’s never anything weird or strange, he just confidently references it the same way a person could confidently say “the sky is blue”. He never seems to insinuate this his beliefs are better than anyone else’s either, he’s just mentioning what his are - so I really don’t know why it evoked such a reaction from ppl.
(I’m not even directing my current comment at Lowe, just general reactions to stuff Joe says).

Joe is the just the right type of insane for it to totally work in coaching. Feel like a lot of guys have tried to emulate Phil Jackson's weirdness but it was never genuine. Joe has his own flavor that seems so genuine it's probably infectious to his players.

@@anthonyalexander8546yup he helped Joe with the spacing! The way Celtics pulled the centers out of the paint and made them useless was beautiful! Gafford was lost in the perimeter! 😂😂 lively just a goof ball out there pushing people! Dallas needs to teach him how to catch the ball first 😂!

A very impressive young man. I imagine that conversations JJ Redick has had with Joe have been inspiring to him as an aspiring coach. Great conversation but I expect them from Zach who is one of the VERY few non-players I respect when it comes to commentary on the NBA. Everything of his on ESPN is behind the pay wall, so these RUclips videos are much appreciated. Thanks.
