LUKA never had shark defense on him consistently in the regular season. And Luka experienced high level defense upon him in the finals, which made him fustrated. Because battling a two way underated Superstar Player like Jaylen Brown will attack you on both ends of the Basketball 🏀floor. And you have too be in shape at all times, and Luka has too work on endurance ,his footwork, and discipline his emotions ,so he can stay in the game mentally.
Luka needs a nutritionist who will tell him to give up the beer. Luka needs to slim up and be able to play on both sides of the ball. Defense wins championship.
I like Luka, for all the reasons anyone else would. However, here's some worrisome things to consider: Luka has a lot of miles in him already because he's been a pro since he was 13, playing against and with older players, who were often bigger, faster, and stronger, which took a bigger toll on his body. He's only 25, but he looks like an older player already. He's played less than 70 games 4X out of his 6 seasons, he's already slow and unathetic and struggles with weight and conditioning, plays absolutely horrible defense, dominants the ball with a high usage rate, which wears him down and like Harden, that style of play may not be conducive to winning a championship. Lastly, the West is stacked, and the top teams in the East are good as well. I'm not saying Luka won't ever get another shot at a chip, but he may have to leave Dallas and go the superteam route because Kyrie is already 33 and Dallas may not be ever able to put a good enough team around him to win a chip
We don't want to hear the injuries excuses. He benefited from beating the LAC while Kawhi was injured. Mavs have never beaten the LAC with Kawhi healthy in the playoffs

The NBA didn't get lucky The Nuggets weren't the same team they were last yr. The Mavs manhandled the Timberwolves. Bruh I been saying this. Luka is way too outta shape to be competitive deep in the playoffs to get a chip. I have him the benefit of the doubt bc he was injured but imagine if he was in shape and honed other mandatory skills prior to the season he wouldn't have been so exposed.
Luka was in elite shape this year. He just averaged the most points per game minus free throws in NBA history since the merger. He played the best defense of his life. Then Westbrook tried to injure him, took out both his legs, and still carried the team past the the clippers, the thunder, and the wolves. Then he got body slammed on the floor in game one taking out his ribs. His lack of lateral movement was pain tolerance, not being out of shape. FOH.
People saying Luka is a hole on D just because of the Finals series. But nobody said nothing when he sent home 3 upper seeded teams. It's a matchup/personnel thing. Celtics was just better, end of story.
Gotta keep Luka fresh for tha playoffs. He carried the Mavs tha whole season and he wore down. Luka needs to work on his body he needs to be a physical hard body. He needs to learn how to play without tha ball a whole lot more.
Listen, Luka deserves his flowers to an extent but he is ONE YEAR younger than Tatum and everyone has been asking when Tatum was going to win one. Giannis, Jokic and Tatum have all faced often unfair criticisms that they "werent good enough" because they struggled to get over the hump and win a championship but guys like Luka and Embiid are consistently defended for what they have done in regular season
@@lavalman88 That's why I didn't just list Tatum I included Giannis and Jokic because they were also criticized to an unfair extent. For all the "Tatum was drafted to a superteam" talk did we really expect a 1st and 2nd year Tatum to lead the team with Kyrie and Gordon Hayward? Why is he getting the blame for that? Seems that is more on Kyrie he was supposed to be the leader. Then post Kyrie what was the "super team"? When Kemba Walker and Enes Kanter were starting? Or maybe that 2022 Celtics with Smart and Rob Williams? My point being it seems fans pick and choose who they hold to certain standards and other guys, Embiid especially, get to coast off of their regular season accomplishments.
Tatum has been on a stacked team since day 1. Luka was injured the whole play offs, his knees bleeding, made the finals on an average team, Tatum has never even been on an average team. Dallas wouldn't trade Luka for Tatum + 4 picks
@@tchellovalente2373 Kemba Walker and Enes Kanter in a starting lineup was a super team? In 2021 their roster had Tristan Thompson, Robert Williams and Tacko Falls as their big men you're telling me THATS a stacked team? Also notice how you didn't acknowledge Giannis or Jokic who also got similar criticisms as Tatum. My point is why don't fans hold Embiid and Luka to the same standards other stars have been held to? When people praised Giannis or Jokic or Tatum in the regular season everyone said "But they haven't won when it matters", Embiid hasnt even been in a conference finals and Luka is a year younger than those 3 I listed were.
Good point but just to make something clear, Luka was still consistent while injured and brought this team who need revamping to the finals… I’m impressed. This summer the whole team needs work and watch out for Dallas
Nobody mentioning how Luka the WHOLE play offs played on one knee and one ankle, his knees where literally bleeding out there. This was the worst version of Luka we have ever seen in the play offs, and he made the finals on a team who is far from stacked.
@CooMoney-qt8vo excuses ? Someone playing through 3 injuries that would keep almost anyone out and lead them to yhe finals? He difnt even mention it once, but it was clear for all to see. Luka was at 60% AND MADE THE FINALS ON AN AVERAGE TEAM
These guys don't even know how to look up advanced stats. Lol Brown defended Luka on 154 possessions, in those possessions Luka went 9/22 (40%) from the field. Luka scored a total of 21 points against Brown in 5 games, which is an average of 4 ppg. If you watched the games, you'd see that every time Brown was on him, he'd call for the screen so he could get Tatum or somebody else on the switch.
They literally said they didn’t give a fuck it’s a TEAM and that TEAM didn’t just shut him down. JB was great pressuring but Luka while hurt still did what he wanted to do. They wanted to prevent him from getting down hill or just in the mid post because even JB can’t guard him down there as well as the other defenders that were on him.
Just imagine how important Kobe could have been to Luka. Kobe had a gift to inspire the greats. Kobe's true legacy, to me, would have been his mentorship to people like Luka. Iron sharpens iron. To be really great requires an addiction to the details of winning. Kobe insane work ethic with his sheer will of purpose is information I believe Kobe would have shared with Luka. Losing Kobe is a generational loss. My question....Who could be the next Kobe like mentor, for people like Luka, to help them absorb this elixir to winning championships which Kobe understood and help develop. Curious to hear any suggestions.....
Bro imagine if he get his fitness and conditioning up. He would be even more impactful. Defense is mostly effort but Luka has the drive not the conditioning
@@deecool47 That man without defense did more for his team throughout the playoffs. I gave up 20 points but I got 46 between my own scoring and assists. Imagine if I lock you down too. Luke's full potential is still untapped and he is a top 4 player without defense
Kyrie and Lebron have the NBA media scared to call them out. Lebron got swept his 1st time in the Finals cuz the Spurs just let him shoot jumpers and went at him on defense. Lebron lost 6 times in the Finals but that's OK I guess lol
I believe in Nico Harrison the Mavs GM. Every single player on the Mavs needs to improve. If they had a 3rd scorer that they could depend on that would be huge. This year it was Hardaway Jr, Dante Exum or Josh Green as the prime candidates but they did not deliver in the finals. They did not lose the finals because of lack of defense, they lost because of lack of offense. It would be nice if Gafford or Lively developed a post game. I disagree all he needs to do is lose about 10-15 lbs, Paul Pierce is perfect comparison for Luka he was never an excellent athlete but in good enough shape to hold his own on D and strong on offense
Nah, if he gets in shape he'll actually be stronger. He needs to commit to conditioning and defense. Hate to see him waste his talent on being out of shape.

Everyone had Dallas over Celtics pretty much at the point of making the Celtics have no chance to win against the mavs and now that it’s over everyone saying different 😂😂😂😂
Luka being in shape + defence is also so linked to how much he does on offence. He started season in good shape but with super high usage rate, he always gets worn down/injured and doesn't have energy for defensive end. If the other players in Dallas stay healthier + gets a better 3rd scoring option and he can rest more - it'll look a lot better. Their spacing is also bad, don't have enough shooters.

LUKA never had shark defense on him consistently in the regular season. And Luka experienced high level defense upon him in the finals, which made him fustrated. I like Luka, for all the reasons anyone else would. However, here's some worrisome things to consider:
Luka has a lot of miles in him already because he's been a pro since he was 13, playing against and with older players, who were often bigger, faster, and stronger, which took a bigger toll on his body.
They forgot luka playing through all off his injuries

Also notice how you didn't acknowledge Giannis or Jokic who also got similar criticisms as Tatum. My point is why don't fans hold Embiid and Luka to the same standards other stars have been held to?
