My husband and I have been working on this piece for a couple of months. I must give a shout out to the pianist (I am the pianist of our duo). What a fun piece to play. We like to play daily and always end up with a smile on our face with the last note.
8th grader from ohio, I'm trying to make allstate band (and be the first freshman from my school to ever make it) and I have practiced a lot with this piece... everyone wish me luck so I don't suck at solo and ensemble.
@@cheeze-it9673 good luck to you as well, I feel less confident every day the performance gets closer. I have a lesson today to go over it with my instructor, I'll try to come back to this comment in 1 and a half months after I perform (luckily I have a backup pice just in case)

@@javelin_if im a sophomore, and i am using this song to audition for DCI, but i dont know if i can learn double tonguing in time (thats the only issue i had)
@@javelin_if did it go well? I'm trying to learn this for an allstate audition (I would be the first freshman from my school to make it) I would love any tips... I just started it a couple weeks ago.
Oh, I played this in music uni! 🤩 Didn't play it much faster myself. Double tounging is harder and less comfortable "slow", you need a different air pressure. So this is a good performance! 👍 I couldn't play it faster because I never got the fingering there though 😛
This etude is not meant to be faster, it's true purpose is to settle your double tonguing woth a lot of air because everyone can play fast but at what cost, mostly it's quality😅
I just got this piece from my teacher at the start of the summer . I just tried it for the first time. It's also summer so I can't ask my teacher about things. Also I'm in grade 6 and I just started learning double tongue.
@@tylerj.holt-trumpetercompo566 that’s fair. I think taking a slower rubato for the quasi cantable can address that. I really like the double tonguing sections so i prefer it played faster
@@derekmichaelson4258 for sure! Having worked on this piece before, I think it’s one of those pieces where you have to find that happy medium. Not too fast to where you give up musicality and not too slow to make to give up the technicality of this piece. I personally try to find a tempo that will help fulfill both

Much luck to you. You can do it, so go do it....don't worry, just practice, and then go do.

My sons playing this for solo ensemble this weekend
As a trumpet and French horn, he is probably an amazing player if he’s able to preform this piece.

I need this solo ready to play in full by the end of December, I'm not the best at this but Im trying to work on it
