This is brilliant. A good tempo too. Some people play this quite a bit slower but your version is clean and accurate as well as musical. As clean as Dokshizer's version.
Steven Lidster that's impressive. I wish that I knew what double tonguing was or known that this piece existed in 8th grade I probably could of done it myself just not state level.
do the tu ku tu ku thing, sure you've heard of it. Try to use your tongue and the back of your throat. The "ku" would be the sound from the back of the throat and tu would be the tongue. Requires a couple practice sessions, I'm still not amazing at it, but I definitely am better than before after a week's worth of 20 minute practice sessions in between the day. HOpe you do well, good luck
Samantha (and all players new to multiple tonguing), I know this was a year ago and your festival is likely over, but this music teacher and native female trumpet player can't help but put in her two cents. 1)It's all about the air support. It doesn't matter what syllable you're using, it won't come out clear or even without solid, consistent support in the airstream. 2)Try not to tense up. Just like when you're writing by hand and your hand cramps up after being used for a while, if you carry a lot of tension you will get tired faster and not be able to sustain multiple tonguing for any long period of time. Keep it as relaxed and natural as possible. 3) ultimately, the only real trick that is guaranteed to work for you is practicing. Double tonguing is not like riding a bike, if you don't use it, you WILL lose it. Trust me, I've gotten distracted in my playing before and had to essentially start over and learn how to double tongue all over again. 0/10 do not recommend.
This is truly AMAZING! Awesome job Alan! Any advise on how to get my double tonging cleaner? I am working in the Arbans with my middle school private teacher. Extra help is always good. AWESOME JOB Yours In Trumpet ~TrumpetDragon
Can you give some of the excercises that you used for practice the double tongue please? I have to play this piece in july and I have some difficulty with keeping the articulation, my tongue stops sometimes, do you have some tip?
You can take some exercises from the Arban. Even playing scales and arpeggios double tongued, or any melody just double tongue it. Practice practice and more practice. When the tongue gets tired take a break then come back to it later. Good luck for your performance!
My best advice for double tonguing is to play this piece as slow as it takes to double tongue cleanly. Then repeat the process 1000 times until you are at your target tempo.
As a 16 year old I played this at contest and at all my auditions for colleges. I was always downgraded for taking it at the SAME tempo as Alan is taking it at. Granted, as a 16 year old I couldn't play it as musically as Alan but technically, I was on the spot...note for note. There is NO perfect tempo. You learn it and if your teacher makes no comment as to tempo, you assume it's correct.
I performed this work several times on the octavin. The range is perfect for it.
This is the best recording on youtube!
Yes it is!!
Одна из лучших.Докшицер играет на класс выше
Самый лучший в мире трубач это Тимофей Докшицер !!
Love it , great tempo , two great performers .
Тимофею бы понравилось 😀Мне тоже.Молодец
This recording is perhaps the closest in virtuosity and on par with the musicianship of Timofei Dokschitzer. Bravo!
Beautiful
Bravo! All notes are clear and musical ! i am working this piece right now ...really fun to play!
Excellent 👌
Excellent double tonguing and expression
Awesome!!

its a hard piece especially for a freshman. Im also doing this solo, but im a sophomore.
I did it in 8th grade at the junior S&E. The judge told me I was in the wrong division.
Steven Lidster that's impressive. I wish that I knew what double tonguing was or known that this piece existed in 8th grade I probably could of done it myself just not state level.
Well I'm with this piece I hope that I get a 1 in state wish me luck
Regrettably I didn’t keep up with it after HS.

Very Beautiful! What trumpet/mouthpiece do you use?
Many thanks! I use a Vincent Bach Stradivarius Model 43 with a reverse lead-pipe and a Bach 1½B mouthpiece.
I actually tried that model a few days ago. It felt quite resistant when blowing. I bought the Xeno 8335 with reverse pipe.

Thanks so much for your compliment. Unfortunately the only way to become good at anything is practice practice practice. Wish you all the best!
trpt55 Will do! Thank you sir!
Practice practice and still more practice. There is no other substitute.

Like this. But trumpet is too loud for piano, isn't it?
Maybe, but bear in mind it's not a professional recording and it's from a live performance. Hope you enjoyed it anyhow.
I think it is good cause the trumpet is the main part
Fuck piano hahaha
