    Hii Ekta. This is so helpful. I've been getting a lot of smell and wetness in my compost but now I think that should be resolved. Just a suggestion. If you could increase your voice volume, it would be very helpful since it kinda gets dissolved into the background music. Hope you have a great day!

      Make sure your container or pot has good water drainage to avoid the smell. Or you can make few holes at the bottom of the compost container and keep another container below to collect the water and water your plants with it.

    Thanks a lot for this video, I started composting just a week back and is very nervous about the smell and insects. I had a leaky bucket today and rushed to add dry leaves, cardboard small pieces and coco pit after stirring it vigorously. The smell was just starting and I fixed in time. Thanks bunch and lot of love ❤️

    Helpful as always👍 I have a few questions though...
    How can I know the pH level (approx) of my soil and compost without any fancy equipment?
    If the soil or compost becomes too acidic, how can I reverse that and balance it?
    If I allow the insects etc to hang around the bin and eat the stuff in it for too long, can it be bad for the compost? Can a compost get ruined by too many insects in the bin for too long?

    Thanks for the video.
    I am doing composting for last ten years and I do 2 stage composting,using Bokash.
    First process is pickling,which is done in a composting bin.Aftwr the bin is full,the contents shifted to another pot,plastic or earthen.
    My observation is the second part gives much foul smell in the first week of composting and it releases lots of foul smelling liquid.The total process takes about 3 months.
    I am not very convinced that using cocopeat or dry leaves can complete the composting in one stage only.
    Do you keep thi pot in open ?

    • @manasibangera7027
      @manasibangera7027 Год назад +7

      Maggot are common when the compost is wet. During rainy season especially, the moist compost tends to breed maggots. Try adding more dry leaves in your compost to reduce moisture.
      To solve the issue of existing maggots, just let them be. They ultimately speed up the process (but can be too much 😅). If they’re coming out of the bin, just place a plate underneath to collect them.

    Very useful video. Of late, l have also been making compost out of kitchen waste. This time, l put the plastic bucket containing kitchen waste on a flower pot as l thought the liquid coming out of waste will directly go to the pot which will absorb the liquid. Lot of mango peels have been put into the bin over a period of time and sufficient quantity of liquid is coming out of this bucket. I thought of changing the pot below the bin as it appeared sufficiently wet. When l lifted the bucket containing kitchen waste, l saw numerous maggots in the flower pot. I again put the bucket on the pot as it was too scary. Is this maggots formation normal or l am going wrong somewhere? Please guide.
