A truly great pop song that needs to be recognised
Slade's masterpiece.
Jim Lea's favourite Slade song even though he wrote the music at 13 years of age (it was the first song that he wrote) !
My favourite!
THE most underrated band ever. Great musicians with great tunes. How they weren't bigger is just a shame
from what I've read they WERE big back in their day, at least in their home UK...
Completely agree. They may have been underrated elsewhere but in the UK Slade were giants of the "Glam Rock" era.
@@sloppy_hand They were the biggest selling singles band in the Uk during the early 70s although this amazing song only got to number 15 !
@@TheHumbuckerboy A poor 15 was a crime against music. This was pure gold, with Noddy reigning in his voice to suit the piece.
@@grahamnichols1416 Jim Lea has said that this song is his personal favourite ... so affecting and pure genius !
Saw in Flame at the pictures. Honestly this song could be the Beatles. Sensational.
They really were making brilliant music during this period including 'Far Far Away' and 'In For A Penny' but the music business was extremely fickle then
I think I remember reading somewhere that John Lennon rated this is one of the truly greatest rock songs ever.
it is!!!!!!!!
As a teenager in the 70's Slade and Thin Lizzy were the soundtrack of my yoof. They still sound great now......ah, nostalgia.
Slade , Thin Lizzy and Sweet remain my favourites !
Without doubt in my mind the best song Slade ever recorded..and yet for some unknown and bizarre reason it never made the British top ten.
So sad really.
It was the second single from the album. I didn't buy it as I already had the album. I think that's true of millions of people.
{:-:-:}
Should have been a 7th number one
@@stephenrutter8365 certainly think the first single far far away should've been
Amazing song great musicians, great lads one of the many great bands to come out of the seventies
Back in the early 70's, there was no one bigger than these guys, 🤩🤩
This isNoel Galaghers of Oasis favourite Slade song ever . Fantastic with the addition of the brass section. Best band ever in my opinion. Iam 62 and Slade were my childhood and now later life I still get a tingle when I here classics ike this
One of Slades best recordings ever Flame was a great album
A great voice. Noddy is the best rock voice. Not credited with how good he really was.
Dutch Top Pop! I feel young again! We have been very lucky with this music in our time! When you compare this with todays music....
U heeft gelijk Meneer de Vries
@ 59 I have been and still am a massive Slade fan, when this song came out I just felt let down as it "Was not a true Slade Song" how wrong was I !! Now some 46 years later its one of my Favorites
It's what as known as 'Growing Up' Welcome To The Club!
i loved it then and i love it even more now. i was totally shocked when it only reached number 15. in the uk after their long run of top 3 hits but i had to learn that class could not always be translated into top success whatever us true fans thought. but at least some like russell harty and neil gallagher agree with us slade devotees
I’m 21. Always been into older music, it has rhythm and emotion that make you love the song. This is one of those old classics that doesn’t sound that old to be honest!
Way before their time and WAY underrated!
I remember watching the film Fame when it came out, it was a bit cheesy but this song and Far, Far Away were great. I'll never forget the camera rolling over the landscape of the industrial Midlands with this song playing, so evocative.
Flame was good too!
The start of 'Flame' with this song is a kind of homage to a lost world and time.
The best band ever.🤓🤓🤓
Slade awesome band with amazing vocals with amazing guitarist and fantastic drummering 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎸🎤🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🥁🎼🎼🎼🎵🎵🎵
We loved them in the 70’s when I was a kid , we loved when there music came on at a disco , a long time had past since then , were good old days , I really nice time
This song is amazing I'm 61 and everytime I hear I love it as much as I'd when I was wee lad❤
There's a tendency to not take Slade seriously cos of the costumes and Merry Christmas Everybody..... But they were fantastic musicians with so many hits and this track is phenomenal..... Slade were fucking ace!
Dave Hill's hair and NODDY'S VOICE!!!! ❤
Brilliant love this Record
John Lennon said this was the perfect rock ballad song, and he was right.
Legends of music slade 🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🎤🎼🎼🎼
Disappointed Noddy Holder and Slade never really made it big here in America, his voice and stage presence were always great!
They were a big influence on the likes of Kiss
Muito bom ❤👏👏👏
Gotta love the slade
É MUITO BOM !
Very good
Я люблю SLADE!!!!!!
Любовь с первой ноты!
Very nice video, congratulations!
Greetings: Elisabeth
This is there best
loved it 💘
Super !!
ngl, the camera/lighting work for this is pretty good - there obviously wasn't a huge budget, but everything was done in service of the song, and done very well.
SO GOOD
This could very well be a Queen song. Maybe there was some influence? Great song
I think this is Slade's 'Day in the Life'. This song was their peak.
Good ol yam yam band

Bom 💃👍👏👏👏👏👀
Het nummer dat The Who niet opgenomen heeft. Zou zo op Quadrophenia kunnen staan.
Does anybody out there know what tv show had this as its theme? It driving me mad.
This was in a film with Slade but I can't remember the film's name. I've remembered the song for over 40 years!
FLAME /Slade in Flame
Flame
Just search what Noel Gallagher thinks of this song and you’ll know just how special this song is
Thats how I came across it 😂
Noel Gallagher said this was the best song ever written
And Dave Hill playing the bass.
{:-:-:}
awesome tone, btw
Only during this mimed TV appearance. Jim Lea played bass on the studio recording. Jim is one of the best pop/rock bassists ever IMO ... a totally unique player.
Is it just me or does this remind you of Sergeant Pepper....?
God is this over produced or what. Flutes, orchestras, trumpets, everything. . From this point Slade went downhill
Bellissima ❤❤❤
