We were so fortunate to see this delighful opera at Jordan Hall in 2016 as part of the Boston Early Music Festival. It was wonderful in every way! Two years ealier we saw the BEMF staged production of Handel's 1st opera Almira. That production was incredible! They do such wonders with baroque opera.
I have always loved this piece by Handel. It is absolutely sublime in this more intimate format. The music, the singing, the costumes, and all are like individual jewels, each with a polished facet the surprises and pleases the observer! I only wish I had known about this a month ago . . . . missed the Seattle performance. Looking for a DVD or CD of this production from BEMF
The vocal performances are some of the absolute best I have ever heard for this work. Truly exquisite. It is such a shame that the tiny instrumental forces do the work little justice, in comparison.
Tiny instrumental forces? You do understand that historically informed performance includes the use of historically informed, designed, and produced instruments, which were indeed softer and less penetrating than we are used to, yes? The orchestra's greater delicacy is precisely what allows the voices to be heard without forcing--that's the point.
@AccessGuy11 We hope to have more highlight videos up in the coming year and you can visit our website for some behind-the-scenes videos by Kathy Wittman, our videographer. We'd love to produce DVDs of our operas, but right now the costs are too high. Thanks for watching!
There Is Light at the End of the Tunnel !!..Always Remember that your most Distinguished Ensemble is merely one Great Patron away From Having Your DVD Endeavors Completely Written Off and Funded !!...I Pray That This Happens !!!....
@DCTenor The performances for the tour are on our website with stops in Seattle, Vancouver, Kansas City, and NYC at the Morgan Library. I know tickets have been going fast in New York. Then in June, the production will be a part of the Boston Early Music Festival alongside a fully-staged production of Steffani's Niobe, Regina di Tebe and a week of concerts by top Early Music artists.
+nicksum29 I'm afraid there are no plans to produce a DVD of the production, but we will try to share more clips from our archival video. Our studio recording of Acis and Galatea is now available on CD: www.bemf.org/pages/record_acis.htm
Las interpretaciones vocales son unas de las mejores que he escuchado nunca. Verdaderamente excepcional. Es una lástima, en consecuencia, que esta actuación se ve debilitada por las fuerzas instrumentales. Son demasiado pequeñas.
The highest standards of singing, acting and playing are on display here. Superb!
I love this production - 3 of my favorite tenors! And one of my favorite sopranos and an excellent bass!❤
Too bad there wasn't a DVD of this.

BEMF sells a 2 CD set of the 2011 performance of Acis and Galetea. I have it and really love it.
I got the CD, it’s fantastic. I wish there was a DVD
I haven't found a group that sings Acis and Galatea better than this one
Their voices are so crisp and clear
I agree
