As a player around this ELO I like seeing the breakdown of a game like this. Great stuff!
Yeah this was one of the games of my childhood. A friend wrangled me into team RM last month, and I found out that ranked play was my friend, not enemy, when it came to having fun with good matchups. I should have come into the game a few years ago when my skill would have put me at 1400 or 1500 at the time. The elo inflation is crazy when you consider how LEL have shifted over the years. I'm the same player but am right above 1000
Please do more of mid elo! I love it
I was here for this stream. Thank you, T90, for great content and helpful analysis. I appreciate you covering the whole spectrum of ELOs. As an 1100, I would love to see the occasional 1100-1200 ELO game, as well as 1500-1600 game to boost my ability to make the next jump in skill.
Hey just wanna say I appreciate you picking up on the request for some middle and upper middle elo games - I enjoyed this.
T90, as a low/mid elo player -- I believe the reason people get coinage is not because they think they'll get coins 11. It's because they think it helps the market prices.
The whole "tax" thing isn't very clear if players don't play a lot of team games. I myself thought for a while that the "lowers taxes" was just referring to how prices get worse as you sell. So I thought maybe getting coinage would help me sell 100 wood for 20 gold instead of 14 when prices are floored, for example.
I really appreciate blue's careful placement of outposts. he KNEW for sure that red was stuck there and left him no chance to sneak unoticed. I would have dropped another castle slightly closer that's ranging red's most forward gold as soon as he had the stone and i think that would have closed the game faster.
low elo legends is a classic and I love watching the more unique players who are unshackled by meta concepts. But I think I get a lot more watching you break down mid rank games like this where both players make really good plays, but still have things they can work on. It's easier to pick up good ideas from people closer to how I can play than it is learning from the masters of the game who can take a LOT more risks
Quite like seeing more Mid-ELO Maniacs, since that is where most of us players are and can relate to the level of play being shown!
As a 1100 elo player who only plays arena as burgundians i see this as an absolute win
This is freaking awesome - thank you for this MIDeLO
@T90Official Do people get coinage mixed up with Guilds? Or do they see the 'lowers tax' part of the description and think it helps with the market rates...
Well played by blue!
I do think the second castle could have been at a more strategic position (either cutting off escape or pushing forward a bit). Plus he was floating the resources for a third castle for a looooong time, and that could have ended the game a lot quicker.
imo with the gate block you wish for the enemy to delete a wall piece, because then both players have access at that position, compared to just red.
You can run in from that point from that moment on, it might be hard to close it up again if blue was watching.
I never had a problem with coinage, heated shot, or dock 2nd page as a kid. Then again, I read the manual religiously and played a lot of games against the AI.
Cool game !! As a mid elo myself, one suggestion for casting is Arabia with one player going Franks. I find very hard to defend from Knights in open maps.
Monk would be your best friends
This!!
been wanting some insight to defending castle drops at this elo. I can defend from it but I feel like its because the opponent makes mistakes, not that i did the right thing to defend.
I get into this situation all the time, and turks are a 50/50 for me to defend from, one of the hardest, but usually knights is a must, and then rams with thrash units inside, depends on what the oponent goes for, skirms are good in this situation to not waste your knights, if they go camels then I go spears. When you see a castle drop prepare right away second wall and rams, then see what counter to use.
Great video, love seeing people around 1000-1100 elo on the channel.
Love this. Please more ELO specific advice. This clicked with me as an 1100 ELO looking to move up
I like Mid Elo! I would also love to see more Mid Elo teamgames. T90 mentioned that he doesn't like to cast Low Elo teamgames because in those, usually one player is a little bit better than the rest and stomps the other team; but in Mid Elo, you'll not run into that problem. I play Mid Elo teamgames myself (14xx) and I find them often really interesting.
I am exaclty at this ELO (and even worse on Arena which is where I lose more often), it is really easy to overlook on your own errors and immediately spot the ones that others are making..
Blue is dancing because he is close to the wall and he's worried about a stray mango out of the dark.
red bating with the light cav to convert the enemy camels at the end was pretty smart but still over by then. gg wp to both
I`m around 900 ELO and had a spectator the other days. Was terrified that it might be you :))
Blue moves the units like that because he wants to keep them on aggressive but give them directions to stop from running under the castle.
He should just put them on Defensive instead then, they will still chase some distance but not far from their designated point.
i find this way more entertaining than watching a 8 vs 6 elo game.
I love it when the last 11 minutes of a game is just a dead player not resigning 😃
Pls more t90. Mid elo games are really helpful for a lot of people. Its not as hectic as pro games but also way more serious than lel. Lel is fun, but the learning experience is lower (for me at least). Great vid!
Big trees are where it’s at.
Thx T90, I often struggle against CD. Mostly I just try to drop my own castle to range the enemy´s + few petards to be a pest.
Red should have went into mass skirms for a cheap counter to the jans. Until he could figure out another option later on
I feel like this map is much rarer seen in LEL videos than in MEM videos
how do you check your ELO on xbox anyone know
I'm curious about thoughts on idle tc time for both. It seems like they both stalled around 80 vils in order to pump out more military. My instinct if i was blue would be to make more vils, but perhaps then red could have fought back and escaped from the corner
Is this well played by blue, or should add more vils? Asking as a lowely 800 elo player.
The answer for everything in aoe2 is "it depends", but adding vils is nearly always good, a villager pays back it's cost in 2 in-game minutes.
You always want to keep tc busy, make more vils, age up or get techs.
You keep making vils untill you reach 200/200 pop total in army + eco. Then you can think about deleting some eco. The difficult part is to not start floating lots of res, so build lots of production.
If you look at this game, neither red nor blue was popped capped, so adding extra eco would have been good. (red probably didn't have the space for this however)
Excellent content, would love more mid-elo games please!
I saw the title and freaked out that you casted one of my recent games lol.
Played my first ever ranked match the other day and the guy was super nice. It’s a relief having a non toxic community in a game! Lol. Got bodied though.
I'm around this elo and turk players either fast imp or castle drop pretty much all the time
Great video! would you recommend this game to a beginner?
Yes, watch the low elo legends series if you want to see other beginners. The skill scaling in the game is huge, so you will get stomped as beginner if you play online, but eventually you will find players at the same level
@@TheConnoiseurofTheArtofSnort Thanks, Do i need any dlcs or do you recommend anyone?
@@fr0sty0ffensive The dlcs add new campaigns and civs to play with, but even without dlcs there's so many civs and campaigns that it can get exhausting. I recommend doing the art of war and the other tutorial that the game has to get some basic knowledge of the game. Spirit of the law has some great beginner tutorials as well for aoe2, but I recommend just starting it slowly and learning by enjoying the game
@@TheConnoiseurofTheArtofSnort thanks!, i purchase the game yesterday on steam with 3 dlcs: Dynasties of india, Dawn of the dukes & Lords of the west for 14$ on the sale. So now its time to learn😃
Do these games take place on Voobly or Steam with the DE?
DE
I really want T90 to commentate a game that i play so i can go and watch it after to know what things i could have done different
best upload in a while!
I think reds name is Kingnac8= kingnacked? Maybe 😂
Why do they not shift click their monk back to the temple?
Very good game, but blue's unit control was freaking me out (I feel represented by his style and weaknesses, I also cannot micro but at least I let units fight instead of actively making them worse)
I feel like blue is used to games where units don't have ridiculous group pathing
I won a tight game last night similar to this
do people not read the techs?? why are people getting fricken coinage? like yeah its a coin, but, like, do people just click techs for fun? does noone know what eco techs do and are they just fun to click? what is happening
Edit: also, i suspect that blue didnt realise that his jannies were on flank formation, and was trying to click them to group up, but then they would just move and split again.
i had a guy draw LOL out in palisade walls instead of just finishing the game. thought that was pretty rude but whatever.
JAN-is-air-ees. Not JanISerees.
You forgot the strategy "howdoyouturnthison"
Red deserves to lose for a lot of reasons, but spending his last gold on coinage would be high among them. Cmon man.
Yes more mid elo please!
This game was a bewilderment for me.
Not the strategies that were used or even the civs because you see
a lot of Turks and Spanish being played on this map.
But almost a minute of idle TC before Castle Age for red and the weird
build order for Blue with "oh, I go to stone", "No wait, now I go to gold"
and not to even mention the crazy janissary micro with all the dancing
was not what I expected.
I am EXACTLY the same ELO as these guys and usually people that
ELO are spot-on concerning these things.
Of course they don't play close to perfect, but these guys played like 900 ELO
if I had to guess.
It was just strange to see some of the things they did.
And I don't write that to make anyone look bad or something like that.
But there were some mistakes in that game that I rarely see on that level.
Also I think I once played with Scout on the ladder.
But I am not absolutely sure.
I am not good with names.
Do you also pronounce the month "January" as Juh-noo-uh-ree?
More mid ELO please T90!
more mid-elo maniac moments
Mid elo madness!!
T90, keep in mind, in my experience, mid ELO guys know just about as much about the game as the pros. We just struggle to execute. Hence why we're in the middle.
Who's bigger nerd? One with better strategy or one with better execution and decision making? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I feel like T90 needs an email for replays to be sent to, unlikely to help reduce the amount he get's to the business email but might help? I swear he comments on it almost every week and I laugh everytime
Mid elo masters extreme - MEME
I have been submiting games since I was 600 elo now I'm almost getting steady at 900 and reaching 1000, so I'm not gonna be a low elo legend if I ever get in the channel. I'm sad.
Honestly watching super low elo isnt that much fun, im looking forward to your crazy mid elo games ;)
turks is just such a bullshit civ in arena. i think to make them fair, they should require an university and the chemistry research time too. make it cost 1 food, or keep it free, but require them to still research it. that huge damage spike they get just for reaching imp makes them nearly unstoppable. it feels like a +200 elo boost for turks pickers on arena. they already get a huge damage spike with the janissary in castle age, then they get free monk counters with the free light cav and hussar upgrades, which like chemistry, not only free but instantaneous. if you get skirms to fight their UU, you're still dead because they have bbc instantly in imp, and if not, the free light cav will clear the skirms in no time, then if you go cav, they have monks and camels quickly because of their fast gold collection.
absolutely ridiculous civilization. i wouldn't even call it a strategy but just a checklist of things for an almost guaranteed win. you don't have to adapt or anything, just follow the fast imp formula and you will only lose if you're much worse at the game than the opponent, significantly worse and only got to the same elo because of the turks free win matches
Arena just sucks...
And yes, I'm 100% biased. I hate arena, no reason to balance anything for arena because it's a garbage map.
Any time u opponent does this or a Turk fimp is knights, lots of knights kill this type of push
Nice 🎉
How can I join this cult?
My tree is the biggest
bwoop!
Hi!
jesus its funny once when you mention stop moving units but 10 times after lol kinda annoying
I think Turks should at least need a university before having free quemistry.
❤
Elo doens't mean anything
I hate castle droppers
How to beat him. Easy answer he just should do cavaliers and one treb before his first fight. This will be game over for blue.
More mid elo pls
/ˈjanəˌserē/
2nd. Dorfyboi raid boi
First
That wasnt anything special. Like I'm first to see 1100 elo games, but it was sooooo one sided. Try something more unpredictable next time ;)
The point was not entertainment but coaching, as said in the intro. It was a perfect match for demonstrating mid-elo improvement based on playstyle
I dont think it was that clear and one sided - red had the better eco and blue was on a timer to do enough damage - if red can stall and take a good engagement he might catch up militarily and push blue back with the better eco. At least thats what I was thinking...
@@NightKnight347 Yeah, I learned several things about the correct way to respond to a castle drop on arena, and in the comments what a good response to Janissaries is.
Love this. Please more ELO specific advice. This clicked with me as an 1100 ELO looking to move up

Are you sure you aren't a bot? Those usually are first lol
