I do love that your RUclips isn't just a dumping ground for uncut 7 hour twitch vods.
Even when not 'RUclips only' content, the fact that you choose the best games and cut the video to the game is appreciated.
It's probably why this channel is indeed successful
I agree. T90 has a really good sense of not wanting to waste the viewer's time, and I really appreciate that.
It is not the resource generation that won him the game, but the un-raidable eco. MBL's knights could do nothing running in Lord's eco.
daut also built his little turtle base so sick, his buildings formedd a little maze for his arbs to hide in, and every time mbls knights came in they were under constant fire from a castle and a tower
The lords philosophy is, and I heard once him saying it. He is going to lose out the micro ( because age etc..), but he will make sure to get everything right in the macro and win by that.
@@HappyDragneels_page true
Yup. I think MBL should've just spammed mass capped rams, taking full advantage of his civ bonus and the fact he was stuck in castle vs a turtled up feitora eco with no military.
I only play vs my irl friends and not online but this is undoubtedly my favorite thing about the fatoria is that people. Cany raid your eco no need for walls just lots of fetorias and tons of stables and archery ranges
This is a story, a story of Daut, a man whose name you surely can tout. He was given Portuguese a civ that may displease, so the battle was not for him a breeze. He built many a building of stone and gold, to give him resource when his economy did fold. Knight after knight entered the fray, searching to end Daut but could not find the way. Blood and arrow littered the field, however neither opponent would willingly yield. Until the bray of cavalier filled Mbl's ear and did impart to him some fear. Daut's fight was slow, but in the end we know, Mbl could not continue without his eco. Now at the end of this storia, we know you can achieve gloria, aas long as you build a lovely feitoria!
Bravo! Bravo!
Wow man thanks for the poem
@@ayouboubliha5172 You're welcome. I'm just a simple man, but I do what I can.
Nice poem
Fantastico
The difference was that, the moment Daut was able to raid MBL's economy, everything grinded almost to a halt. Meanwhile, MBL pushed as deep as it could into Daut's economy, and even if he tried to take those down, production continued almost as if he wasn't being raided. It makes me wonder how well would Feitorias fit MBL's style of "never giving up", always having something to fall back into
It's hard to justify the phetoria in normal gameplay, but against raids, it feels like having 20 inefficient villagers with the health and defense of a paladin.
It is one of those buildings that is always justifiable come late game and even more so vs a raid heavy civ.
I think MBL should have concentrated his attention on Daut's military instead of attacking feitorias. Then he would win battles and mass even more knights, then maybe destroy Daut's TC, leave him without villagers. He really threw out of the window too many units. But I liked this game a lot anyway.
@@Wanderer1258 nah. destroy his castle and he effectively has no passive defense. mbl, because he is using villagers, has a better resource/min and thus can out produce daut. at this point he could kill the feitorias no problem.
@@AndrewTheFrank But I guess it is easier for a while to avoid castle fire, staying outside of its range, than to try raise it to the ground. Feitoria has 5200 HP, castles have 4800. If MBL couldn't destroy the feitoria, then he also wouldn't be able to destroy the castle. Arbalests would destroy the knights as they did it in this game, and outcome would be the same.
Damn, Daut had a near-death experience two times, and yet the madlad came back, against the cockroach of AOE 2
Insane game!
A near death experience is just how Daut wakes up. It's like his coffee.
Honestly, that was an amazing game from the Lord

Feitorias put a timer on the game: if you can't defeat your opponent fast enough, they'll win with their stone/gold advantage in a trash war
Actually that only works in the ultra late.
Mbl held the map. He did fall to the temptations to end quickly... Wall in the foe. Save your army. Get your upgrades and you win. Your eco is bigger and safe. Your army is bigger. Feitoria is a literal drain as long as your opponent can mine/farm/cut using gold, stone and pop space. Abuse a lack of flexibility and income, get your upgrades. You own the match, don't get greedy. Throwing away units for that second push failed, first should have proven the feitoria existed in numbers. Build siege and pike/swords instead of cav. Archers can't hurt siege much anyway.
@@glenmcgillivray4707 Exactly same thought. Relentless assault was a mistake, MBL lost far more reses than Daut overcommiting to attacking. He controlled whole map, he could just enjoy insane eco lead to prepare mighty Imperial push rather than keep throwing knights at castles.
True but it didn't apply to this game. Looking at statistics MBL has 5k more gold collected than Daut. He just threw most of it at castles.
@@egdrei we all are in agreement. Feitoria only help when materials run out. Till then: stop suciding units trying to raid eco that needs siege to break. Yeesh, just lock em in and get tech
@@glenmcgillivray4707 Yea. I talked to MBL about it on stream. He said he was trolling, not going castle and going full stable. I believe it. They usually don't play serious against Daut.
Can t believe someone made feitorias work, had to be the work of the Lord
He did it against Hera too in Islands. Highly recommended if you haven't watched it yet.
The drush beeing successful was a big help
Definitely appreciate the fact that you find all these videos for us and gave RUclips this video of all places. Please do keep it up good sir
A big factor in daut's win is all the knights constanly dying in chokepoints vs the superior cavaliers.
i feel like the Feitoria lets you catch up on population really quick when you hit imp. no farms, tc's or vils needed
true... i think mbl would be better off going imp after first engagement and fall back into defensive with his bigger numbers. Then go imp and catch up in upgrades.
This seems to be its biggest pull outside of super late game scenarios. Go fast Imp, hit max pop faster than any other civ could, then use your tech advantage as well. I'm not sure how big the window of opportunity is (probably too small to be competitively viable), but it should be there. By adjusting the numbers, they could make Portuguese a much more unique civ than they currently are (I think Hera called them worse Italians).
@@taintedPot Thought same. MBL spent way too much time and reses in futile attacks against well-defended positions. One good Imperial push with trebs and cavaliers could end this quickly.
It also allows you to basically ignore eco techs, saving you both resources and time. Your fetorias will produce the same amount either way. that way you can also ignore villagers making farms and put them on stone and gold to compensate for the low gold and stone generation from fetorias
@@TovKafur or even a couple castle drops to harden his push.
ya know what, T90. I liked your video because you made your case in a calm and rational way. And I do appreciate your YT only content a lot because my schedule just doesnt permit me to catch your streams.
Villagers may gather resources faster than Feitoria, but Imp units have access to more upgrades and therefore give better value per resource
Trap a foe with better eco in castle.
Have them fail to siege your feitoria
Win on upgrades.
All the boomer should do is contain: wall and get your upgrades, you have the money you have the time. Your eco and army is bigger, feitoria cannot compete, wall in your foe and don't throw away units.
@@glenmcgillivray4707 Walling them in is actually a great idea
@@hanshintermann1551 added benefit? You will win the treb war. Or bombard cannons. Because you can exploit all the map economy that two players were expecting to use.
Because feitoria don't provide map control. Nor villager boom.
Wall in their base. Boom and use the funds for upgrades, and siege. Watch as the feitoria player had to burn his army to engage your siege solution, and thus is the player burning through wealth.
Infinite slow income is infinite but slow.
Go chop some wood and giggle at the poor portrogese player.
@@glenmcgillivray4707 Hell, if you go imp you can even spam trash from, like, 20 barracks, stables and ranges each. The feitoria may produce food and wood, but not nearly enough to keep up with the ridonkulous amounts of wood and food you will get from chopping and farming all over the map with 100+ vills. Plus, Daut wouldn't even have the space to match such a number of military buildings.
MBL clearly shat the bed with overconfidence and tunnel vision. I'm basically a chimpanzee compared to these guys but I feel like even I could have won at a certain point if I had been in MBL's position.
Of course this is easier to say in retrospective, but I can't think of any other pro game where I would consider it even remotely possible for me to win where the other person failed. Which says a lot about this one, I think.

Never doubt Daut! That was a good game.
you're a terrible person
One of the best games ever, really fun to watch. People underestimate that strat, because the resource looks slow compared to an economy going full steam, but if you start forcing idles, it really shines because it's so consistent.

Quality over quantity, and fighting under a castle.
That castle is MVP. It killed so much.
@@StefanoZibell It's Daut's castle after all. If it goes up, he wins.
Indeed. But also the fact that during every single fight, even the ones where MBL got all the way into DauT's main base and eco, he was still unharmed and could keep production up with no worry of lack of resources long term. On the flipside, at the first point where DauT was able to breach out and hit MBL's eco, it almost immediately became a massive snowball. Even with castle, towers, arbs, and better units - if DauT had had a standard villager eco then he would have been dead at least 3 times in this game. Castle, units, and choke points allowed him to hold, but Feitorias ultimately allowed him to also bounce back every time.
I have to admit that I like the twitch exports, mainly for the chat and your interactions with the chat.

Feitoria also has the advantage of eliminating a lot of macro overhead ... allowing you to focus more on controlling your smaller force well.
Spoiler Alert

Thanks!
This game feels like a soccer game between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. At the beginning, it's the best of the best sparring each other with strategy, making very little mistakes. In the end, everything is sliding into insanity and reminds us why we love soccer.
Daut should have made a sixth Feitoria. He had 50+ unused pop for most of the game. Maybe he could have afforded another 20 cavalier with an extra Feitoria.
Dont tell the Lord what he should or should not do.
@@CCAPriester Ah my bad. The Lord Daut Gandalf finishes Feitorias and Castles neither late nor early, but exactly when he means to.
By the way, if you watch daut’s stream, and get channel points, you can choose his strategy! A viewer chose this strategy for DauT
So, I think something that keeps getting overlooked is the 20% gold discount for Portuguese. It looks like MBL got a lot more gold, but he didn't practically get that much more since all of Daut's units cost 20% less.
Honestly daut just played that wonderfully. The fact that MBL could'nt raid Dauts eco with 70 knights is just crazy, and he had no idea what to do. I think he should've brought in many more capped rams much earlier, especially as Cuman, but either way, Daut played that beautifully with some sick turtling and building placement.
33:23 that should be the new attack notifcation sound :D
Thank you for putting so much thought into your youtube channel. All the videos you post are quality :)
From a defence perspective, I find this game so damn stressful. Daut always seem to be able to play under extreme pressure without loosing his cool. That is super impressive.
A totally amazing game !!
Well done to BOTH players!
I think the advantage the feitoria gave DauT was that his economy was almost un-raid-able. Every raid was wasted gold and food. So even if you were gathering more than him, your troops were thrown away trying to take out his eco. But when MBL got raided at the end, there was nothing to stop the massacre. DauT basically was like, "Oh, raiding my eco? I'll put them in buildings then."
i think the better way to do Feitoria is to play kinda "standard" and make the transition to Feitorias once resources (gold and stone) are going low on the map.
then you can make expensive units with 6-7 Feitorias while your opponent is making mostly trash.
you make it a survival game, and since you basically have infinite resources its easy win once you have a good foundation.
Since I already saw the game on DauT's channel, I was more interested in the remote situation..
I think a buff to the Feitorias where they reduce your max pop would be nice, so you don't need houses for them, but there's nothing like that in the game, so I don't know how hard that is to implement, still the problem with going fast imp into Feitorias is needing all the damn houses and if they destroy some later on, you are constantly pop capped, so if they would make it so that they just reduce 20 population from your max, rather than take 20 population to build, it would help the Portuguese a lot (I love this civ and I wish it was like this)
Fantastic cast for an amazing game! Truly a Feitoria Mastapiece
After the first engagement, MBL should have upped to imp.
Trebuchets would have turned the tide for MBL.
@@jliller Easy to say that but Daut was massing arbalesters and switching to knights at the time. MBL would've had to make huge investment on imp by stop producing knights. He also didn't build a castle and didn't have the resources for it so he also would've had to start mining diverting his food, wood and gold villagers. If MBL went that route Daut might've made a large enough army of arbs and cavs to put him on the backfoot even earlier. So, it isn't as clear cut as it may seem.
@@Tpoleful clearly it would have been damn risky. But considering the massive tech advantage for Daut, I guess MBL only had one chance of beating him before loosing in the long run. Can't tell which strat is more likely, but none of them is failsafe.
@@nobody6034 The biggest issue here is lack of knowledge and experience. I doubt anybody knows what is the best way to counter fast imp into feitorias in arabia since it's almost never done. Props to Daut for pulling it off really well.
@@nobody6034 Look at the resources, MBL had 70% more wood and food, probably more at that point due to villager diff. MBL would likely have won in the long run if he teched up.
The economy is actually way better than it looks for daut, he played it maybe how feitoria's are meant to be played.
He never boomed otherwise- he never got eco upgrades, an he never really replaced villagers either- MBL made easily 100 more villagers than Daut, that's 5000 food, and he had to get eco upgrades- probably near a thousand other resources, wood to make the farms to get the food, so a lot of that wood was gone anyway.
Feitoria's may not produce much resources, but they're waaaaay cheaper to run.
That's why daut's decision to go into cavalier was probably really good actually- he might have actually had the lead in the end when it came to food production, so a choice of unit that revolved around food was a smart play.
Thanks for this T90. Love the videos. I don't twitch much, but might have to start! I like that every youtube video is a special game. I am at the point where my addiction to hearing you cast could use a few less amazing games though... twitch here I come
Love the random queue but there's so many civ-pickers out there at lower elo you're lucky to get it 1 in 10 games.
Though its probably better to stick at a civ in low elo so you can get atleast something down.
@@mauer1 I'm talking 1300ish, so not really learning the basics.
I agree. I'm at 1050 right now and though I most often pick the random option, I go into each game fully expecting to have to use my civ-choice.

Always love the videos! I don't get to see much of the stream so pulling games from the stream works for me atleast! Can't wait for the next 'Nothing' vid!
As a noob that only plays portuguese fast imp I can confirm that Cavalier is way better than Arb for that strategy. You need a unit that can reliably take out siege to defend in early imp, Cavalier are pretty budget with the gold discount and it leaves wood in your bank to create bombard cannons. Anything that isn't siege gets taken down by your defensive castles, once you have those up and properly defended you just let your opponent throw their units into the meat grinder for a few minutes and at that point you pretty much just win cuz they can't keep up production.
When he sent in the attack at 32:00, no matter the outcome, I would've stopped producing military in order to get to Imp.
I also possibly would've not pressed the attack earlier, in order to get to Imp to treb down the fetorias.
Feitoria makes them OP in DM imo. With 500 pop you can’t beat them in mid to long game. Build 10 and sit back and pump out as many organ guns as you want.
Feitorias should have a tiny sliver of offensive capacity, a hand cannoneer shooting pellets as if it was some sort of gunpowder-based guard tower, maybe lower the hp a bit or resource income to counterbalance it. For 20 pop space and the investment? Maybe go the town center route and allow archer garrison. Otherwise its still meh. Wins feel like interesting one-time cases.

The most valuable aspect of the Feitoria is it can't be raided.
Do you think if MBL had gone fast imp to match Dauts fast imp from the start it would have turned out differently?
30 vs 175 population. wow.
9:40 omg hes talking to me!
I think MBL should have adapted his raiding units from knights to capped rams. He only needs a few knights to kill the arbs, but more rams are way more important since he has to kill the feitorias
Probably the best game i've ever watched
that feitoria joke caused me to like the video
I believe the building placement did a lot for Daut as Well as the high HP of the Feitorias...next time i would sorround My food eco with the Feitorias, hold on until my opponent has blown his wad and then...RAID!

For T90. And the algorithm.
That was SO good!
Would Steppe Husbandry be a viable upgrade. I do it a lot in my games, and it's amazing
MBL with an AoE1-style base. Why wouldn't he make halbs when arbs were out of the picture? Why wouldn't he funnel the cavs into kill zones? Why would he make the knights attack the feitoria instead of anything remotely threatening like vils farming gold? We'll never know, but it made the feitorias look good. Google's sayin Feitoria is a factory.
wow that was a great game
T90 thank u for sharing that ;) u r awesome
To be fair, mbl underestimated daut and decided to siege the castle with half of his army sitting idle on the right side of Daut's base, but Daut didn't play perfectly either. Still it's very a interesting game!

Viper plays a lot of games against much better players. He's been improving, maybe one day he'll have an impact at a regional tournament.
MBL's much better eco isn't as far ahead as it looks like. He has to spend a lot of resources for eco itself. He had 150 vils, that's a lot of food to spend too, farms also are quite a lot of wood. Also the eco upgrades. That's all resources that are earned but also spent just for further growth and upkeep. Daut only had to build a number of feitorias and not invest further. That he could hold on for a while then gave him the advantage in the end, same as being hard to raid due to having a solid/fortified economy.
10:54 Do not ever daut the Lord again...

That timeline really is amazing. When DauT has lowest numbers, that's when he started winning. Ridiculous.
You are not alone T90 i leave random things all over the place with no reason
Im a noob so I could be wrong but it seems like MBL could have won by targeting the houses and thus making DauT unable to make new units. DauT actually didn’t have the space for houses in his base anymore.
great video
i love portugal, they're my favorite civ, i really wish they had more than one viable strat, and i wish even more that their only viable strat didn't suck eggs.
My opinion: Feitorias are good when you get to very late game trash unit fights.
Fast Imp vs Knight rush isn't "very late game trash unit fights", hense the problem.
Feitorias aren't something you rush into, they are something you fall back on.
