Watching this is like watching a totally different game. I would’ve resigned after the second or third castle drop for sure. Your true skill lies in your ability to build a fire from your ashes
I think expanding out is so important when you're under pressure like this. I see so many people back themselves into a corner when they get castle dropped.
I do that, and I lose the game. There's no way I could do half of the things Hera did here, but I definitely learned a valuable lesson about spreading out.
Once I got CD on 2nd gate - no running out. It may be a good practice, a bit riskier, but close the farther gate first, and then quickly the closer one, and there is no expanding out ;)

I've seen this Match 3 times and still believe (YO) DELEATING Stable was a mistake.

I think Yo's biggest "mistake" if you can call it that was actually not converting your siege workshop right after the stable. You were struggling for wood a lot at this moment in the game and I think this would have increased the presssure a lot more than the castle on the bottom side. Rebuilding the siege workshop is basically 1 less BBC then and potentially later. In hindsight it's obviously easy to say. Looking forward to the HC games.
Not that you didn’t defend like a beast, but watching it live, it felt like Yo was unlucky with some conversion that I thought he should have gotten. Those little dudes pushing your cannons were loyal AF.

You ended up losing the game because you never tried taking the opportunity to run some vils outside of your initial walls.
I put a comment talking about enemy unit vision and how (assuming he didn't make outposts) you would have been able to abuse his slow movespeed to make a comeback. You actually read and liked it!

He would have definitely won if he went cavalier+monk once he lost his 2 castles inside your base. The organs+monk felt pretty useless once you got BBCs and Hussars.

As arena is my favorite map, do you consider playing it more often? IMO, and think you start to agree, arena can be a lot of fun to play (watch) and involves out of the box strategies, mental guessing (openings).

Nice Game Hera. I think outbooming is a pretty usefull strategy, because most of the time u can hold quite well with little effort in the ages before post imp. greetings Butcher
for 900 Elo, the way i counter fordward castle (i play a lot of arena) is to make a super strong dark age with 11 vills on wood, 14 in food, 4 in stone, 2 in gold and 1 extra building things while changing age. In feudal i build market and BS as fast as possible, create 2 vills more for stone. For the time market is up i have enoght for castle and 3 pikemen and forge. Most of the time rival is castle like 4 min before me, but i have a lot of pikes with forge to counter any castles. If they quickwall, tower, but generally this dont happens (remember, 900 elo, works for me most of times)
It was moments like this that Mr. Yo gained a fan and I also was pumped to watch Nac5 streams.
9:35 That's really good insight, I only thought that it would be really hard to find value with light cav against so many organ guns already on the field. Seemed already too late to go into it at that point.

How do you counter forward castle when both your golds are in the front and pressured by said castle?
You didn't mentioned how he was pop capped for so long because of the faetoria spam + you knocking down his castles. He cannot make more monks or organ guns to push you back

@@HvacHeathen I really like Vietnamese, bohemians and hindustanis. Vietnamese can turbo their economy with quick and cheap eco upgrades, bohemians turbo it with fervor and the free mining upgrades and Hindustanis with the cheap vills and knight + archer counters

Why didnt he switched into Cavalery after the 2nd or 3rd castle? Knights counter everything you had plus kills vils.

Sometimes my move is to just resign. Not because i can't defend or win, but because i just get bored being castle dropped so many times and the elo isn't really worth it.
I'm surprised Yo attempted that strategy given that organ guns have been nerfed into the ground, they die so hard to mangonels now. Definitely got some undeserved elo using that strat on arena before it got nerfed, it was way too strong.

The biggest mistake Yo does here is the placement of his second castle. He needs to place it next to Hera's second gate so he can't escape. Without the space to farm outside, Hera has am even harder defense and I don't see him coming back then.

Title is misleading but super impressive game.
For those under 2000 ELO without Hera's ability to micro BBC and mangonels, the right counter would have been light cavalry. Turk light cavalry have +1 pierce armor and organ guns receive a slight nerf in damage recently. Where I believe Yo made mistakes- he should have raided with gold discounted knights over buying up to hussar. Hera would need to counter with creating monks, taking gold away from mangonels and BBC. Then you still has a counter because his monks have block printing to convert Hera's monks. Next fetoria was a bad choice, each one was 700 resources (recently increased from 500) if the 4 fetorias were used to make a knight army, 20 knights would have run roughshod through Hera's eco for GG. Feel free to disagree.

I think mr. Yo played admirably in this series, Hera has been pretty unstoppable but Yo came up with some really interesting and unexpected strategies that made it quite a challenge.

great video but really hate when casters talk about 'broken' units when they are just normal counters. This game would be awful if everything were just the same effectiveness against everything else.

Nah some units are def broken. Sure everything has counters, and different levels of soft and hard counters, but somtimes the game devs. Are not perfect humans and they improperly create one of these relationships, causing for example a hard counter to one unit may also do pretty good against all other units, and do just fine in mass against its own hard counter. Things can always be broken lol

Honestly, seeing this live and having heard even the casters opinions, it may be wrong to want to give this video such title and want to teach with it. You clearly got super lucky with the monks RNG's conversions, many players have been in this situation and even the casters agreed, it was pure luck. Out of all the games Yo lost two due to poor luck with the RNG's. Would Hera still have won the tournament? Most likely, but it just feels wrong to try to teach with a situation that honestly has a very poor chance to happen to any player, specially because on top of that nobody has Hera's speed/skill.
I must be a total noob but wouldnt pikes defending the monks or running down both cannon/hussar be viable? Am i missing something 11 ? A handful of pikes would have wiped your hussars. Great game as always hera

What makes forward castle so op is typically on Arabia/open maps is where they lead tower/army rushing opponents stone and/or gold leading into fast castle drop on your nuts not arena wall ... >,>

This game was absolutely insane. After the third castle dropped I was absolutely certain there was no coming back from this. Even the casters sounded like this game is over, even though you are trying everything to turn it. By far the best arena game I have seen so far. I hate that map btw.
You never had stone to get a castle and artillery, Yo could have gotten his own bombards with siege engineers to outrange yours.
Turks get redemption and atonement! You can mouse over the flag in the top corner to see your tech tree or download a mod to have the techtree show up in the area where you see unit lifebars.

I took the build order of that game from yo for my arena games. I felt it would be so strong at 1300 elo. It didn't disapoint.
