Watching this is like watching a totally different game. I would’ve resigned after the second or third castle drop for sure. Your true skill lies in your ability to build a fire from your ashes
I think mr. Yo played admirably in this series, Hera has been pretty unstoppable but Yo came up with some really interesting and unexpected strategies that made it quite a challenge.
I think expanding out is so important when you're under pressure like this. I see so many people back themselves into a corner when they get castle dropped.
I do that, and I lose the game. There's no way I could do half of the things Hera did here, but I definitely learned a valuable lesson about spreading out.
Once I got CD on 2nd gate - no running out. It may be a good practice, a bit riskier, but close the farther gate first, and then quickly the closer one, and there is no expanding out ;)
Amazing game. Remember watching it live at NAC. What a start to the series :) I think Yo's biggest "mistake" if you can call it that was actually not converting your siege workshop right after the stable. You were struggling for wood a lot at this moment in the game and I think this would have increased the presssure a lot more than the castle on the bottom side. Rebuilding the siege workshop is basically 1 less BBC then and potentially later. In hindsight it's obviously easy to say. Looking forward to the HC games.
Damn man, this is definitely one for the books. Thanks for the highlight. Your narration and tone of confidence gave away the ending, but regardless it was still a really good one. GG
I remember you put a match vs. Viper where he did Organ guns vs. you pre nerf (you were playing Burgundians) You ended up losing the game because you never tried taking the opportunity to run some vils outside of your initial walls. I put a comment talking about enemy unit vision and how (assuming he didn't make outposts) you would have been able to abuse his slow movespeed to make a comeback. You actually read and liked it! While watching this NACV live, I thought back to that game and got insanely hyped watching you implement lessons you learned from old games WHERE VIEWERS WERE GIVING FEEDBACK This is why you're the GOAT and why you'll be my favorite AoE2 pro until the end of time. Humility, passion, perseverance, and the ability to not let the potential of optimal enemy play stop you from making your own opportunities (Yo could've saved the monks if he stopped shooting your walls ~ 16:05 ) Translating lessons from your AoE gameplay over the last few months helped me hit Diamond for the first time in LoL with the highest winrate I've ever had. Go Hera!!!!
9:35 That's really good insight, I only thought that it would be really hard to find value with light cav against so many organ guns already on the field. Seemed already too late to go into it at that point.
Awesome battle. Love this format bro keen to see more play-by-play

My man, there's a lot you can teach undoubtedly but this game, this game was pure skill from your side. I feel like deep down you just know that you are better overall and that does not let you accept how bad your current situation is in these kind of games, well played like always ~
He would have definitely won if he went cavalier+monk once he lost his 2 castles inside your base. The organs+monk felt pretty useless once you got BBCs and Hussars.
Not that you didn’t defend like a beast, but watching it live, it felt like Yo was unlucky with some conversion that I thought he should have gotten. Those little dudes pushing your cannons were loyal AF.
Nice Game Hera. I think outbooming is a pretty usefull strategy, because most of the time u can hold quite well with little effort in the ages before post imp. greetings Butcher
Omfg Hera, you can't do this! This is not a video title one can easily pass up on and not watch. Sleep? Or watch? Sleep? Or watch? I blame Hera for my struggles, and he deserves it..
This game was amazing, it blowed my mind 👏 As arena is my favorite map, do you consider playing it more often? IMO, and think you start to agree, arena can be a lot of fun to play (watch) and involves out of the box strategies, mental guessing (openings). Keep them coming and congrats again 🐐🏆👏
for 900 Elo, the way i counter fordward castle (i play a lot of arena) is to make a super strong dark age with 11 vills on wood, 14 in food, 4 in stone, 2 in gold and 1 extra building things while changing age. In feudal i build market and BS as fast as possible, create 2 vills more for stone. For the time market is up i have enoght for castle and 3 pikemen and forge. Most of the time rival is castle like 4 min before me, but i have a lot of pikes with forge to counter any castles. If they quickwall, tower, but generally this dont happens (remember, 900 elo, works for me most of times)
Half of the time Jo castles were attacking buildings instead of units. 16:06 he lost like 5 monks to 3 low hp hussars, while the hussars were under 2 castles.
FYI this strat only worked because it used 6/7 Turkish bonuses. Turks get free scoutline upgrades and plus 1 pierce armor, which is super strong against a 7-base attack organ gun. Organ guns basically don't work against Turkish scoutlines. Without that he would never have survived enough shots to clear the monks. Obviously the gold mining bonus and the instant chemistry and the gunpowder discount were crucial to the rapid imp comeback. So this strategy is very specific to Turks, not a counter that would work for other civs.
Your opponent doesn't have a heart of a fighter. It could be a really nice battle to see but he resigns. Although, very nice resistance by you Hera, mabrouk
2 weeks ago he made a community post saying he was working on a video for that match. I might be missremembering that he actually uploaded it because I cant find such a video on his channel. He does have his group set against Tatoh on his other gameplay channel
This game was absolutely insane. After the third castle dropped I was absolutely certain there was no coming back from this. Even the casters sounded like this game is over, even though you are trying everything to turn it. By far the best arena game I have seen so far. I hate that map btw.
@@HvacHeathen I really like Vietnamese, bohemians and hindustanis. Vietnamese can turbo their economy with quick and cheap eco upgrades, bohemians turbo it with fervor and the free mining upgrades and Hindustanis with the cheap vills and knight + archer counters
@@joshmcdonald7472 I have some experience with Hindustans. No experiment with Vietnamese, I have played Bohemins but I failed to boom my Eco. with the help of the tech Fervor if I am hearing you right? Does fervor not make monks move a bit faster? You never had stone to get a castle and artillery, Yo could have gotten his own bombards with siege engineers to outrange yours. Turks get redemption and atonement! You can mouse over the flag in the top corner to see your tech tree or download a mod to have the techtree show up in the area where you see unit lifebars. Can't wait for the review of your Aztec game on Arena vs Tatoh, the most amazing game I've ever seen, you micro the monks like the old AI from AoC that would hit and run with 20 archers at the same time.
I'm surprised Yo attempted that strategy given that organ guns have been nerfed into the ground, they die so hard to mangonels now. Definitely got some undeserved elo using that strat on arena before it got nerfed, it was way too strong.
You didn't mentioned how he was pop capped for so long because of the faetoria spam + you knocking down his castles. He cannot make more monks or organ guns to push you back
I must be a total noob but wouldnt pikes defending the monks or running down both cannon/hussar be viable? Am i missing something 11 ? A handful of pikes would have wiped your hussars. Great game as always hera
great video but really hate when casters talk about 'broken' units when they are just normal counters. This game would be awful if everything were just the same effectiveness against everything else.
Nah some units are def broken. Sure everything has counters, and different levels of soft and hard counters, but somtimes the game devs. Are not perfect humans and they improperly create one of these relationships, causing for example a hard counter to one unit may also do pretty good against all other units, and do just fine in mass against its own hard counter. Things can always be broken lol
@@allenbythesea ahh also very fair to you, I can see that being an anoyying trait for casters to have. Might’ve gotten a little defensive for Hera 😂 if he’s says it broken it’s broken! Lol even he is not infallible just like the game devs. I see your point good sir
The biggest mistake Yo does here is the placement of his second castle. He needs to place it next to Hera's second gate so he can't escape. Without the space to farm outside, Hera has am even harder defense and I don't see him coming back then.
I love castle dropping in team games with Bohemians 26+2 pop with an instant castle built where u want it as you hit castle while also instantly adding a TC and you can steady produce wagons while adding eco with 2 tc eventually adding the 3rd and 4th all while steady pushing and still pretty much booming into Imp making bombard cannons killing all siege after push flattens out and adding spears with Houfnice and some more castles. I’d love to see a pro do it there’s a really sick build order to be done while maintains military and eco.
"Practical Counter To Forward Castle On Arena" = having the most unbreakable defense in the world 🤣
And "probably lose 6-7 times out of 10". Now that's practical, I can apply it !
have good conversion luck and good mangonel bbc shot luck. 2500 elo guaranteed.

organ gun nerf actually changed the interaction with armored units. Hussars especially turk hussars actually tank quite a bit

Dude that is sick
I couldn´t believed that you took away Yo´s game, gratz on NAC5 and the streak

what about going scouts earlier, and not letting the villagers leave the base?
thats ideal but its hard to afford. usually he can still quick wall/fight off the scouts and get the castle down anyways
