Thanks for this! You've made my pros useable again. Was seriously just thinking of returning it until I saw your video.
Scott, ignore the negative reviews. I just did this and it worked great. Yes, you can pay 35$ and get just as good, i guess. Without you posting this video, the community would not have known about this workaround for us that haven't loved the seal of OEM. I used the large Apple tips and medium F FEYCH foam. Will see in a week or so how they seal. The large OEM tips alone never sealed and sound check said try different. Nice work and thanks for contributing to the community!
Even though I would never consider getting these after watching the video I love this guys voice and the part when he said "there’s a little black part but your friends will think your cooler because you have something different than them" great video.
just did this and it worked great. one thing to note is the paperclip method actually tore my middle sized ones in half so be careful when pulling it through. The small ones ended up working best with the small tips.
I can testify that this is in fact a successful remedy if the AirPods pro are loose or falling out of your ears like they have been for me. I bought this memory foam product, followed the tutorial and now my AirPods stay in my ears snugly. Thanks so much Scott!
Do they improve sound and anc?
I'ma try this too even though i Just got Chargen Pro and so far Airpods pro 2 haven't moved in my ears at all and the audio quality is more impactful at a lower volume . Finally I can enjoy my AirPods Pro 2 .
I did this with simple rubber fittings from other headphones. Even that works fantastically. The size s headphones now fit perfectly and on test both sides are now green, before that was always yellow. Thanks for the great video.
Just got mine and so far Airpods pro 2 haven't moved in my ears at all and the audio quality is more impactful at a lower volume . Finally I can enjoy my AirPods Pro 2 .
Thanx. Use a tweezer instead of paper clip and it worked great. Sounds and fits way better now.
Rick Waters thanks for the comment. Used tweezers and made it so much easier!
Thanks. You just solved a problem by creating another problem.
Tyana Opra hahaha
Lol

I needed this (largest ear tips still didn't seal in my right ear). I used your affiliate link, did exactly as you describe, and it worked perfectly. Thank you SO MUCH!
I used the smallest round base one with the biggest oval apple ear piece and it works better than before.
Exceptionally useful and clever, with compliments !
So smart, thank you
Just got my CharJen Pro and so far Airpods pro 2 haven't moved in my ears at all and the audio quality is more impactful at a lower volume . Finally I can enjoy my AirPods Pro 2 . BUT I'ma Try Doing This As Well
Awesome !!… i used some foam tips from 215 Shure inears i had there, took out the inside and worked like a charm!!!
Best tip ever!! You saved me!! Thank you so much
Love this. Curious how these have held up for you now that it’s been a couple months... still using them? Working well? New tweaks?
I ended up switching to 3rd party solutions that snap on much easier. The Comply are my favorite.
Great instructions, followed exactly and worked out well, thank you 🙂
This work perfectly and I don’t have to push them so far into my ears.
You can use a case so it’ll be a better protection as well as that
Good idea! Good try :)
amazing, my airpods pro are finally stable!!! a life saver hack right here!!! bravo! Such a shame that an apple product has such a bad fit...
That is an awesome solution to an everyday problem of a lot of people. Haven’t tried this but has anyone had any issues with sound quality at all?
I have not noticed any difference in sound quality.
If you pull the foam tips all the way to the bottom then the case will close, ive jsut done this with mediums and it woks perfectly.. sound and seal is better!!!
Worked ur a genius
🤔 yeah sure 😒
Don’t get mad cuz it didn’t work for u
Yeah it doesn’t work or ur just lyin!!!
Ya, I'd probably avoid. Too bad too becasue any of their sizes feel great in the ear. The memory foam expands slightly and makes them feel like they are part of your head! Problem is even with my smallest Apple tips and the smallest memory foam tips the top cover of the case does not close fully anymore. The split on the top of the cover can't fit properly anymore as it can't squeeze in between the air pods with the foam inserts on. I'm going to look to get the memory foam ones that snap directly onto the air pods.
I wanted these through out the whole video until I watched ending.........
A U
When the lid isn’t shutting I was like “Uh no...”
I took the hard plastic piece out of the memory foam tips. Then you don’t even have to use a paper clip or anything. You just stretch the foam over the AirPod tip, fold down the tip flap and go. The case shuts without a problem at all.
Andrew Milam thanks for the helpful tip 👍🏼
The lid DOES stay closed: ruclips.net/video/E6OcIXyjM6w/видео.html
Andrew Milam How did you get the plastic out?
I do the same thing but with the foam masters. I put the small foam tips underneath the large silicone tips. And the lid closes all the way
Which foam masters do you use??
Thank-you! They have been falling out of my ears and the large size is too large. Looking forward to adding the memory foam and giving it a go.
Did they stop slipping out
Yeah I returned mine because they would not stay in my ears.
Work well for large ear fit, but will not close with the large size installed. It does appear to charge (turned green). Will update if it doesn't.
I . actually thought of this too. no need for paperclip as it is much easier without. Great improvement in sound and ANC but still does not pass the built in ear test which means maybe the test software is flawed
richard shepherd just returned mine for a replacement pair which now seal although I noticed the firmware is now 2b588
Thank you for the video! Does this help with the largest original tip not staying in?
Personally I used the medium size Apple tips but doing this DIY method of adding foam I had to step down to the smallest ear tip size from Apple and then adding the foam made it more like a medium. So in your case if Apple's large isn't fitting well for you, adding memory foam to it will certainly make it larger and more "fuller" in your ear which will help it not fall out.
I detatched the inner little plastic tube. It's match easier in this way.
Run the stiff end through, much easier and the memory foam stretches quite a bit.
The small/medium/large are the best deal there the same price for more right now on Amazon
My lid closed all the way but I used the small tips
I got the same ear tips and followed the process. I used small tips for small Apple ear tips, issue I’m having is when doing the deal test- both tips keep failing. It seems like it’s too bulky to make a good seal.
I tried taking out the orange part (to make it less bulky) , but it seems like its impossible to do without damaging the foam.
Anyone have a solution?
Fit test works fine for me. Does it work if you step up to the larger size? What about without the foam tips? There was a bug in older firmware where the fit test would fail all of the time. Check this link for direction on how to see if you are on the latest firmware: www.macrumors.com/2019/12/16/apple-releases-new-airpods-firmware/
Have you found a way to ensure that the case closes all the way? Seems like a perfect mod as I still seem to hear my surroundings even with a "perfect seal" according to Apple.
It closes: ruclips.net/video/E6OcIXyjM6w/видео.html
thanks!! I don't want them anymore 👍🏼 you save me 30 dollars!! Muchas gracias 😊
I currently use the large standard tips. You recommend getting the medium foam tips?
If you currently use the large, you should get the large memory foam ear tips as well. If you're not sure, you can also get the multi pack and try both medium and large to see which you like better.
Lost noise cancellation
Wasnt using memory foam
Any advise as to why i lost noise cancelling .... must be covering something
But they got more comfortable
Thanks anyway
No one else seems to be having issues with noise cancellation after applying this modification. Maybe you accidentally pushed and held the AirPods stem to toggle the noise cancellation off.
First 7 1/2 minutes: “Scott Schramm, you magnificent bastard...” (slow claps). 7:43: “I am not amused...”
The lid closes fine: ruclips.net/video/E6OcIXyjM6w/видео.html
Have you thought of a video w an added pods case to see whether or not the would effect having your lid closed or not? May put the other half of people who would only not like it because of that one thing being the lid doesn’t close shut
The lid does close: ruclips.net/video/E6OcIXyjM6w/видео.html
two things.
1st should've just cut the white/original tip after sleeve-ing the memory tip.
2nd. without cutting it, isn't it back to being non memory?
lastly, cool trick. twas kinda genius. 👍 you get one. 😅
I can foresee a problem. What if it doesn't fit well after you go through this? Is it easy to take it out without damaging it?
You can easily revert it back the way it was by removing it.
Good lord. What a charade.
One problem I found out about the memory foam.
It seems like Apple put a counter measure to putting on different ear tips.
When I put on my memory foam tips on my AirPods my AirPods never connect to my phone. But when I put the originals back on. It connected automatically
I have never heard of that before and if that was true, there would be tons of people reporting that issue in my comments. I'm guessing you don't have the tips installed correctly.
Oh my god I broke mine!! Thanks
"I broke my product by willingly following your guide that's obviously not perfect!! Thanks"
Can anyone tell me where to find tips for the AirPods Pro that are tapered like the original AirPod tips? I don’t understand why this simple solution does not exist - round tips those who like traditional round tips AND tapered tips for folks that find that the generic round ear tips are uncomfortable and fall out. We all want the upgraded technology but not everyone wants the generic round tips. Can anyone tell me where to find tips for the AirPods Pro that are shaped like the original AirPod tips? One of the reasons I like AirPods is that the generic round ear tips are uncomfortable, fall out and never fit. I want the upgraded technology but not the generic round tip so I found on every Bluetooth earphone. I have found many airpod pro ear tips but they all seem to be round, ruining (for me) the great airpod fit
Any help is Appreciated
I used tweezers instead of a paper clip, and small tips from old galaxy buds instead of memory foam tips and they work great, and the case closes with ease.
I ordered and received Damon Light Replacement sponge silicone memory foam ear tips from Amazon for $13.00 and just wear them in place of the tips that Apple supplied. they snap on just like the Apple tips but I scrunch them first, pull my earlobe down a bit and put them in. I have them for two days and so far, problem solved. They are just as comfortable as the originals and the superior sound is not affected at all. I'm happy I don't have to push these in every 5 minutes anymore. I'll update if anything changes
the reason his didnt close are because theyre not made for airpods. i got memory foam REPLACEMENT eartip with the plastic inserts to connects to the airpods, removed that connector, and instereted them behind my standard airpods and it closes flawlessly
For the price of the AirPod Pros Apple needs to come up with something that works. If they don't it's like they are taking our money for an inferior product. They are well aware of the problem.
It's not really a problem. The solution Apple provides is already much better then the older AirPods. The solution in this video is just to enhance it even better.
I really like mine. But I can’t move around much or they will fall out. I check the fit when I’m wearing them and they feel great but I get notice that they need to be repositioned or try another size. So I like the way they sound and look but they fall out.
Fell at the last hurdle for me
The lid DOES stay closed: ruclips.net/video/E6OcIXyjM6w/видео.html
I did an even cheaper solution. I used the foam earplugs that you can find at any hardware or drug store, cut a hole in the middle and then down to size and flap over the silicone piece as you did in the video, they're more comfortable and definitely doesn't fall out of my ear.
onekoolfella can you do a video on that?
I was thinking the same
Definitely gonna try this
@@jimmyaerts I flatten the foam piece then use a hole puncher that used for unbound paper aka loose leaf paper to punch a hole through the center of the foam earpiece. Then let the foam go back to full size then cut it in half. Then follow the steps in the rest of the video. It works for me.
@@DavronTX if you send me an email, I can send you some still images of the process and if you wanna make a video all I ask is a shout out.
onekoolfella thanks for your tip!!! I tried it and it works great
Is it ok that I make it a topic on reddit? I’ll give you the credits for your idea!!!
I glued memory foam tips to the original wired Iphone earphones. Better sound than the earpods pro.
This model is the best cause the new 2023 is not good .
does this work for small ears? or only for bigger ears
I would say this method works best for medium and large ears. For small ears, I'd recommend buying ear tips that are pre-made as they will be smaller then this method. Here are some more videos I made about these solutions: ruclips.net/p/PLeiKzXHZh57AZ4NGlcahbfrCUznECDiuI
@@ScottSchramm ah okay, and i watched your other videos and the comparisons already after i commented that. i was thinking about getting the comply 2.0’s but they only last 3 months and you’d have to buy replacements. so i don’t really know what i’m going to do yet
@@kobekzn I've had the Comply version 2.0 now for 9 months and they are still holding up great. I definitely recommend them.
You dont have to buy all whats available online
This doesn’t affect noise cancellation, correct?
It will improve the noise cancellation since its making a better seal in your ears.
if i use memory foam , i dont will lose seal for noise cancelation? or memory foam is better anyaway?
Memory foam will give you a better seal and better noise cancellation
Other companies other than Apple you don't need to use the silicone piece with the memory foam
if you go on eBay they sell memory foam tips that just snap on the airpods pro
Yes there are a few on eBay now but they currently cost 4 times as much and come from China so it will take awhile if you live in the US. As time goes on, I'm sure more and cheaper alternatives will become available.
Scott Schramm the ones i just got are coming from minneapolis. they were $35 with shipping. these are good though if you don’t want to spend very much
b
Do recommend to buy it ?
Can you post a link of it
Nice hack but offly complicated. Just order foam replacement tips
Sorry I didn’t need to go through all that. I have that brand and the tips snap in place just like the original tips.
I don’t understand why you had to go through all that?
Because at the time I made this video, there were no 3rd party options that snapped into place. This DIY option was the only solution at the time.
Great but can’t you just get memory tip that clip on to our airpods pro lol 😂
Yep, you can now: ruclips.net/video/oi1-8ogEOAA/видео.html
Pandemic edition: couldnt find a paper clip but a piece of the elastic ear strap from a face mask works perfectly 😷
Now that you upgraded the fitment you gotta upgrade the case as well. Perhaps one with a snap lock 🔒
WARNING: My original ear tips got broken during the pull operation with the clip. Not the part being pulled but the base the plastic base the sits on the airpod was separated from the rest of the silicon... just one, I won't try the other...
Sorry to hear that. Maybe it would be better if you buy replacement tips that are ready to install instead of my DIY method. Check my other videos for reviews on those.
@@ScottSchramm Yes, I've just replaced the ear tips with the next smaller size I still had, and order a pair from Amazon.
I will rather have the silicon tips.
See whether this slightly different approach helps with shutting the case better...
www.macstories.net/stories/how-i-modded-the-silicone-tips-of-airpods-pro-with-a-memory-foam-layer/
Why won’t comply just make a tip for the AirPods pro.....
I reached out to them early on and they said they are working on it.
Here’s a neater solution using Comply foam tips:
forums.macrumors.com/threads/airpods-pro-memory-foam-ear-tips.2211501/post-28044888
Further proof that AirPods Pro are still “beta.”
That's basically what I did in this video
just get galaxy buds mine stay in my ears
Why is everyone saying "What you wanna do is…"?! I don't wanna do this!
You know that the foam tip Is a tip of its own, you don't need the white apple tip, right?
The foam tips I show in this video are not made for the AirPods, they do not have any way of attaching. That is why I kept the white tips since they click into place. Since making this video however, I have tested other products like the ones from Foam Masters and Comply and they do directly attach. You can check out those videos here: ruclips.net/p/PLeiKzXHZh57AZ4NGlcahbfrCUznECDiuI
@@ScottSchramm could be my mistake, because I know that there are foam tips that directly attach
the problem is - my airpods keep sync up with my iphone, i cant get them to fit in the case properly.
one day I put them in the case, but they kept the connection to the phone and drained the battery,
i even bought these overpriced comply tips- its the same, the case doesnt close
I haven't had any issues with the Comply ear tips causing issues with the case not closing, and you are the first I've heard from with that issue. What size ear tips are you using? If to changed to the small size, does the issue still occur? I would recommend cleaning the bottom of the airpods where the metal contacts are and use compressed air to clean out the inside/bottom of the case as well. My guess is that the contacts are blocked and that is why they aren't charging.
@@ScottSchramm i always use the biggest ones. The smallest work.
And it is super clean.
And the original silicone tips work perfectly- unfortunately they don’t stay in my ears
@@krino8137 Bummer. Sorry to hear that. The best thing I can suggest is to squeeze the ear tips right before putting them into the case. That should allow them to fit better and charge in the case.
Idk... seems Kind of over too just to get foam ear tips
this is how to rekt your airpods pro. lol
Skip to 2:40
The idea is ok but you do it totally wrong because by doing this way, you kill all the clarity and stage of sound. You get better seal and maybe a little more bass but you loose mids and highs and sacrifise the open and airy sound stage which airpod pros signature.
There is a better way of doing this, get rid of the inside part of the memory foam tips. Cut the foam from the half of it. You just need the part which is the head part, just the part that fit to you ear canal. Throw the baci of it.
Now you can put the foam inside of the tip very easily and they don't change the sound signature, they just help for better fit.
If you think it changes the sound, the you should cut a little more.
There should be a thin layer of foam inside the original tips, not much.
I haven't noticed any kind of change in sound in this method. If you do, then you're right, it could be too much foam is there and that could be blocking some of the sound.
@@ScottSchramm After I tried to use them, yes they stick much better in my ears but after a while they start to hurt my ears too. Airpods are much better because of their comfort but with these kind of methods they becomes much like the others. There are some air vents where the tips connect to the headphone, maybe when I tried the big ones I closed them and it reduces the sound quality. I'm so sorry but I have audiophile ears and I don't like them :)
Never doing this to my airpods pro🤐
Scrunch
sound quality loses
You probably are using the wrong sized tips or are not putting them in your ears right
If you can afford air pod pros you can afford $29 dollar foam ear tips, I recommend getting those instead.
wtf? 290€ and u do shit with it and you said there's no problems!
Lol that sucks
Either the lid opens or closes. Keep it straight: the case of your $300 gadget won't close with these on.
The cases closes just fine: ruclips.net/video/E6OcIXyjM6w/видео.html
Some enterprises have been developed in China. You don't have to do this. There are a lot of people selling this on taobao.
i would rather buy the detachable tips rather than wasting 10 minutes of my time trying to put the black thing on there 😂
Sure, you can spend 4x the cost if you wish.
Lol ,,, the better solution , jabra elite 75t
javier garcia not really
javier garcia I’m not sure about that, I just sent mine in due to the left ear bud going out. I love them but they can be a little uncomfortable after a while. Hopefully I get them back by the end of april.
THATS ILLEGAL
That’s to much bro
Bro 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣
You might wanna change yout title to Hard and useless . btw thanks for your review , not gonna buy it anymore .
This is sooooo backwards wow he missed the hole point.
Junk
Shit!
Ghetto rigging a pair of $250 air pod pros with foam and a paper clip . I’ll pass .
Ridiculous, after paying 250$ for AirPods and whatever he paid for those silicone tip sleeves, he struggled in front of a camera for 10 minutes to fit them in with a f***n paper clip... what!!! 😂😂😂😂
This was 1.5 years ago. There are much better options to deal with this now. Check my other videos: ruclips.net/p/PLeiKzXHZh57AZ4NGlcahbfrCUznECDiuI
