We have our share of tropical storms and typhoons here in Japan too. Severe flooding, landslides and earthquakes cause much destruction. I’ve heard the PHs get more natural disasters. Stay safe!
Thank you, appreciate it.
You guys are well prepared for storms. The house is well built, you have a generator, solar power battery , plenty of food and water, your house is on a slope with good drainage, etc… Your solar system looks great. Hopefully it lasts for many years.
Thank you appreciate it. We are crossing our fingers. Thanks for watching.
Just catching up on Wilma and Greg videos. Great video especially the solar and kubo. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
Thanks Gary, how was your trip to Cebu?
@@buildingthephilippines it’s good so far Greg. We went to Oslob Monday through Wednesday and did the swimming with the whale sharks, saw an awesome waterfall. We stopped at a local church on the way back where we met a teacher and her students. They did impromptu concert and shared food with us.
Wow, very nice. Enjoy your stay.
We are getting a tropical storm here in Florida lots of rain and wind. Stay safe Greg and Wilma
Stay safe yourself. Florida gets their fair share of tropical storms as well.
The kubo was a nice touch! Same goes for the solar panels. You have a beautiful home & it is only getting better and better. Looking forward to more updates that might take place in the future
We have champagne taste on a beer budget. Lots of ideas for projects for 2024. Will share each project with everyone.
@@buildingthephilippines very exciting looking forward to it
Thank you for sharing this with us. The kubo looks great. It’s amazing how far you both have come in the times since you started sharing. Time goes by so fast. Take care.
Feels like a lifetime ago. Appreciate the comment.
@@buildingthephilippines yes it does Greg.
Stay safe Wilma and Greg in the storm. Great update video. Loving you've mastered the solar system. Wilma's garden looks great , little dry, but after this rain event it will be all good again. Prince looks great !
Thanks, yes it's been dry here. Watering once a day is not enough. Thanks for commenting.
very nice work of your garden and Prince is adorable
Thank you, appreciate it.
Thank you for the update guys. I told Elvira to watch your video, and told her about the storm coming 😊
Yes, I just watched a weather update. The storm is now a tropical depression and looks to go right over the house. I'm heading to the hardware store to tie down the kubo.
You might not remember our previous chats but I am living in Cebu for the past 3 months and have actually had a chance to meet up with Mike and his wife. Hope someday to meet up with you too and appreciate the videos.
Yes, sounds good. Mike and Janet are friends of ours. Thanks for watching.
That Kubo is beautiful! Ugh the dreaded leaves in the pool, lot of work but good exercise I would think. 💪
The higher than normal winds have really made it hard to keep the leaves out of the pool. Seems like it never ends. Kubo is a great place to get out of the sun. Thanks for watching.
The Kubo looks great! Solar is free after the initial investment, so may a well use it. I had an Uncle who had a very well-trained Doberman. He would play games / train his dog all day and the dog loved it. Prince’s ears look perfectly fine imo. Speaking of lemons, I planted a lemon tree 6 years ago and currently easily have over 200 lemons! I’m drinking lemon water every day for a month already. I have 7~8 different citrus trees, all full of fruit! I wasn’t sure if citrus did well in the Philippines. I see more mango, papaya, pineapple and banana. Hopefully you survive the storm without damage.
We like giving a variety of updates. Keeps the video switching from one item to the next. Thanks for commenting.
Thanks for the updates on the house, solar, Prince and your yard, Greg. You and Wilma have put in a lot of effort over the past couple of years, and it looks like everything is paying off! 👍
My journey there begins in 2 weeks, and it’s been pure chaos, preparing for my life there. Hopefully my (soon-to-be) Wife and I can build a comfortable life like yours 🙏
You can do it, Jerry. Stay focused, use caution and take it slow. Unfortunately don't trust anyone. Verify everything.
@@buildingthephilippines I’m very fortunate to have a very supportive family there. All of the family are well educated, and several who are involved in the real estate area. Right now they’re searching for a place for us to live when I get there in 2 weeks. This is on Luzon, for now, but I believe I have my Fiancee convinced to take a real close look at Negros, thanks to you, Mike, Paul and a couple others, for our forever home.
Sounds like a good plan. Congrats and travel safe.
Beautiful...
Thank you
I am just planting my starts, Tomatoes 🍅 Green Bell Peppers 🫑 Chili 🌶️, I did String archway for my Tomato’s, They should reach 6 to 7 feet, Love the Province-here, can grow anything, We will be doing Solar 2024, Your place looks Amazing, Belus Leyte Island
Awesome, let me know how the tomatoes come out. Ours keep dying. Wilma is from Palompon, Leyte. Enjoy retirement life.
Building your home in the shadow of what I would assume is Mount Talinis? Which is considered a potentially active volcano...
My hat to you sir! I couldn't sleep at night with my anxiety! Beautiful place though.
Hi price!! He’s beautiful 😍
Thank you, he's a good boy.
You have a beautiful home...
Thank you, appreciate that.
I've noticed your swimming pool don't have a skimmer, or did I miss it? We set ours here (Ohio) to run for 8 hrs. to rotate the water and remove all the floaties, it then get stuck inside the baskets (2), easier to clean the leaves/bugs that float around...
Pool has 2 skimmers and a main drain at the bottom of the deepend as well.
Looking great ❤might think about bolting down the cubo? Just saying 🤔
Yup, trying to find anchors. Been to 3 hardware stores. Have not found them yet.
You should install automatic irrigation system for better irrigation.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Hello folks. Speaking of allergies, there is such a huge incidence of allergy sufferers among the Japanese. Mostly due to former deforestation of the Native forests, then replanting with a monoculture of pollen-producing cedar! Actually a tragedy. Are your allergies as a result if pollen in the air?
Yes, pollen and dust.
Sweet, especially the solar. What was your total cost on the total solar install? Thanks😄
400k pesos
your best investment Greg that solar, just 1 remark on your battery screen i see temperature 100.0 C, is that the actual battery temperature or what does this 100 C stand for?
my 4 batteries 5 KW each are normally even during charging just a few degrees C above room temperature.
if the battery is indeed 100C then it is way too hot, please check make sure before you one more on the "thermal run away list"
we love the kubo also a great inprovement.
advance merry Christmas
I will look into that, thanks for the information. Enjoy the holidays.
@@buildingthephilippines we will enjoy and we look forward to our trip to the Philippines in February
Travel safely.
I love the THEME SONG!
Curious -- how much was the SOLAR for your place?
We were just in the Philippines for 3 1/2 weeks... the electric bill covered 2 weeks of that and it was surprisingly high.... $8k php... we used AC most of the day and all night in one bedroom... just seems high as my whole home electric bill at home in the middle of the summer... $200 USD with central A/C on all the time -- running a window AC all day long (work nights) so I can sleep well and don't hear anything outside.
Just curious how much your solar was to buy and install? And how big of a system it is -- how many batteries and panels?
Electric was 8 cents a kilowatt in NY, it's 25 cents per kilowatt here. 400k for system. 10, 550 watt panels. 6k inverter and 1 200 amp hour 10.4 kva lithium battery.
I'm very interested bkz i got allergies. how do i find out whats in d air there? r allergies less on a beach lot?
Cetirizine works best for allergies. You can get at most pharmacies here. Higher elevation has better quality air.
What I hate all bloggers NEVEr tell you if your coming to live in Philippines they NEVER tell you to bring plenty of t-shirts if you wear XL t-shirts or larger especially you wear 2 X or larger cause there XL t-shirts is really a large by American standards and good luck finding 2X or larger. Also we shoe or sandals 11 size is the most you can find
Good point, I do find 3x shirts here that match xl in the US. I have also found size 12 sandals and sneakers here as well. That might be because there's so many foreigners here in the Dumaguete area. Thanks for watching.
How often does your internet go down?
Last year weekly. They ran a new line now we are good. Maybe once a month.
@@buildingthephilippinesHello! Is Starlink more reliable??
That varies by area. I have friends here say it goes up and down often. Daily, I was told, especially when cloudy. I also have other folks say it's great. Our fiber here is really good.
Do you guys save rain water ?
No, we do not save rain water. Thanks for watching. Our municipal water cost is 70 cents a month unlimited use.
Grow some bananas and other fruit bearing tres.
We have several grafted fruit trees in the garden. Many different types.
