I guess the whole "any publicity is good publicity" saying might not be quite true after all. I'll be the first to admit that I don't really care for MGK's music. But I just choose not to engage with it. Unfortunately, on the internet it seems like hating things get loads more attention than liking things, which is why things are turning more and more toxic. And creators get pushed down that rabbit hole cause it's what the algorithm rewards. I think if people spent more time enjoying the stuff they like and less time getting angry at stuff they dislike, they'd be happier overall. I'm not saying everything should be sunshine and rainbows all the time, that gets weird as well. Sometimes you just need to vent or complain about something and that's fine. But it shouldn't be how you spend the majority of your time.
MGK has shown he is quite diverse in his creativity. To successfully move from one genre to another as effortlessly as he made it look, is something that deserves some appreciation. For many, his music really has helped them through some stuff, and I will always respect an artist that clearly draws from a real emotional place. He has become a bit of the new Nickleback for his fast rise to becoming a trending topic, and even those who have never taken the time to listen to his music seem to have the same complaints as others who have. A lot of hateful followers blindly following the hate projected by others. I have seen it before, and I am sure that I will see it again. Although I don't listen to MGK all that much, I don't put in any eneergy to hate this artist so that I can fit in with the current trending crowd. Love him or hate him, he has proven he has a right to make the art that he wants to.

@devinmccurry4235 the stats and facts don't agree with you. You may not like MGK, but saying that he failed at what he has tried makes no sense considering how successful he has been. And anyone saying that Nickelback has no talent does not know what talent is. Being a critic should be left to those with open minds.
Oh man as both an MGK and Become the Knight fan for over a decade, this is a video I’ve been waiting for from you! I’m the one that has requested MGK songs in your song suggestion Friday streams too. I think you are finally seeing some of the reasons why he has the fan base he does. He has many songs he’s made over the last 10-13 years that have this same vulnerability or simplicity with overall good lyrics. Not all of them get noticed the way this one did. I’m so glad you were able to describe what makes this good even though it’s not your cup of tea. Great video 🤘🏻
This video was horrible. He literally lied about the song and said the melody never changes. Wtf??? He also says mgk doesn't take his craft seriously because he knows. F this dude and the lying horse he rode in on.
Listen to Hotel Diablo and tell me MGK doesn’t take his music seriously, all I’m gonna say is there is a reason the vast majority of his biggest critics straight up pretend that album doesn’t exist despite it being generally considered the best work of his career. This is a guy who literally scrapped an entire completed and ready to go album in 2018 because he didn’t feel he was being honest enough on it, didn’t think it was worthy of a release. For 10+ years MGK has made thoughtful, heartfelt music that bares his soul while also pushing the limits of his own musicality with each new release.. black flag, general admission, hotel diablo.. but people listen to those two pop punk albums and think they can speak for his entire career because they observed the most controversial and heavily criticized portion of it.
Totally not qualified to say any of this. Just talking out my ass, but… I think dude’s issue (provided this isn’t just some kind of push to make him seem relatable and is a real expression) is that he’s been led to believe that this overproduced, hacky style of writing and performance, his over the top presentation with his high fashion outfits, high profile relationships, putting his business out there for everyone to see, and saying wild shit for soundbites and clicks is relatable to the average listener as opposed to just what sells. Realistically, it just adds him to the cacophony of artists cranking out meaningless “content.” Regular people, and artists who haven’t completely sold their soul to the industry are kind of just bored with it, and only interact with it to talk shit a lot of times. If it’s hitting him that heavily, then yeah, take a step back and evaluate where you’re really at with it, and whether or not you want to keep doing it in that way. I’ve had to do the same at varying stages of my involvement with music/the industry. Shit’s rough, and that’s something I can relate to.
I'll be honest here, I never really cared for MGK's earlier rap albums. His rap skills were mediocre at best. It wasn't until 2020 with Tickets To My Downfall that I started paying attention to him in full. I loved TTMD, as it was a refreshing album in a time where most music was becoming lackluster. Of course, he then released Mainstream Sellout which, I didn't like at first because he tried to appease not only his new fans but he also tried to appeal to his old fans by bringing back his "signature" rap style. Basically, MGK was trying to hard to appeal to everyone. I have since come back to the album in the years since its initial release and while I don't think it's his strongest album, it's a fun ride nonetheless. What I'm trying to say is that people are just hating on him for no credible reason. Whether it's his guitar playing, his covers of more popular rock songs of the last 20+ years, to beefing with other celebrities, it's just ridiculous. Colson Baker is who he is. No amount of hatred can deter him from trying new things.

I know you are DT huge fan but can you suggest me some great prog bands? I like Symphony X. Russell Allen voice sounds good for me maybe not that technical as a band.
As someone who just felt like he was a wanker before now, the meaning of this song gives me some respect to who he is and what he’s dealing with mentally.
I love you first of all but is your channel just talking to MGK like he’s going to see this? He might because he rocks with/watches reactors but it’d be cool if you talked as if you are talking to your audience more during your reactions. I’m not a hater I just like Shaq, Knox Hill or TheThirdErnest more. Listening to the song first would be so sick. Atleast you don’t form your own conclusions before your hear the product.
Not a fan of mgk but this new song i dont hate I definitely don't think it's good and imo it's pretty bad but it's the first time I've heard something by him and actually understand why he has an audience and why people listen to him,it actually feels like a genuine song so I'll give him props for that
The one time I won’t dislike him because who could imagine being overwhelmed by such ruthless scathing criticism, kind of criticism that jumps the shark Like seriously, the razor guitar is the ugliest thing you’ve ever seen? Have you seen the headless freaks out there?
I think MGK is a d-bag. But overall, his pop-punk stuff gets more hate than it deserves. Is it super deep and intellectually stimulating? Not particularly. But it’s fun to listen to.
In my humble opinion, if MGK really wants to get treated seriously, he needs to stop with trying to shock people and start being genuine, especially if he's suffering. Relentlessly chasing those 15 minutes of fame will only wear him down further. When artists take their suffering into their craft, they have an insane potential to come up with something very unique, which in turn will draw people in and make them connect and relate with the artist, each in their own unique way. I'll be praying for him and I hope he gets better
Have you ever remixed "Loveless?" You should remix it. It's still missing something. Maybe you don't like it. I don't quite understand your tastes. I respect what you do.
See i never really liked MGK when with his rap, it wasnt awful but really enjoyed when he changed generes and played more pop rock. I listen to almost anything these day's, i grew up on classic rock and obviously grew intoy own person. I feel damn sad for MGK, most people only dont like the bloke because he went againts eminem, like eminem dont need stans backing him, he can look aftwr himself easily enough.
i was super stoked when Tickets to my Downfall came out. i never liked MGK as a rapper and TtmD felt like him finally coming out as his true self. hes always beena poppunker going all the way back to collabs with kellin quinn like 12 years ago. i went to see him at riotfest 2021 and was supremely disappointedd when he dissed Slipknot and i knew after that that no one would have whatever little respect he had previously earned. hes kinda a little shithead
He was booed by the entire Louder Than Life crowd shortly after that, it was great. Out of a couple decades of going to music festivals I've never seen anyone get booed and hated to that level.😅
MGK is an inspiration. Because if he can do it, anyone can. Not because he is horrible, but because sameness apparently sells. That genre is, like you said, just awful. I hope Kelly gets his shit together. I liked him in the Motley Crue movie thing. He's got musical talent and sensibility that can't be taught. But the direction he sends it in is played out. Maybe everything is and I'm just biased. Still, when You're trying to convey something emotional, shouldn't the expression of the music and lyrics represent that? IDK. I wish him nothing but success. I hope he has someone around that cares about him that he can trust. It sounds like life started out rough for him. People can turn it around with help and a change in perspective and mindset. I about 86'd myself when I was younger. It can feel like you just want to cash in. Things do get better.
I don't think he is that hurt by the examples of the criticism you inserted in the video, that is valid criticism, he might be more taken aback by his haters constantly writing terrible things and even suggesting he should off himself and such. There were some instances he was physically assaulted by one of them, there are a couple of videos of it and the people in the comments were cheering for the person that punched him. He might be watching and reading all of that. Maybe he should take a break from the Internet and the spotlight, as you said.
I would hope he can differentiate between the two, but when you're depressed and have anxiety it can warp your perception pretty radically. It's very sad seeing the internet abuse him. Not to minimize his problems, but it’s a widespread problem that doesn't seem to be getting better.
@@BecomeTheKnight You're probably right, he is not in the right mental state to be able to discern. As an MGK fan I appreciate your objective analysis and I can see that you mean well, I'm sorry that the others are sending you hateful comments. To anyone else out there who’s a miracle baby, it’s only a good thing. Most of us don’t understand the blessing we are to others until we experience a newborn baby as a blessing for ourselves. Speaking from recent revelation
I just don't like his voice, it's sounds bad to me, not referring to his ability to rap or sing well bc if the instrumental behind him rapping/singing was any good, I could probably tolerate it better. it's like how I feel about Megadeth(and no not comparing MGK to Dave so don't come for me lol) I mean I have an issue w/Mustaine's voice but the instrumental behind him is so good that it makes it tolerable enough to listen to and really enjoy 🤷🏻♀️
Auto-tune is never preferred. Cher did it 3 decades ago. So Boomer. I don't even bother with modern artists who still use it. To me, it just means they can't sing. We already had auto-beat, for musicians who can't play drums.
Whoa, whoa, whoa there buddy!!! At the end of video you mention that you “hope I have my mind changed” implying I have an open mind and actually want to learn something??? Honestly the style MGK goes for is like that white rap/emo rap style and it’s very grating, you used footage of Travis Scott but personally I find his music and style very different and very creative compared to stuff like MGK which I can’t stand
He messed up bad when he went after Eminem. That would be like me confidently going and swimming out into the ocean and thinking i could beat up a full grown great white shark. Hes continually bit off more than he could chew. Talking sh!t about Slipknot l, who has a dedicated army of a fanbase was another error. He opened himself up to trolling and all this crap that came with it.
its a sad sad place we live in when people revolve around M&M, as though it warranted to tell a person to un alive himself for standing up for himself against a man who has made a name for himself with music about beating his kids mom and his own mom along with sexualizing young females as well. Insinuating he us deserving of the hate because he gave back what he was given. And he didn't go after slipknot, he went back and forth with Corey! Believe Corey is now going through the same mental issues mgk is going through. He made a video recently. Again, it was standing up for himself at that time also! So standing up for oneself is now deserving of having other wish you death.. crazy world smfh

Ya know... so uh... you got a towel? Lol. Youre very high minded... so you not getting that very base thing is very... wholesome.
The music is painfuly predictable but at least his lyrics are honest. Wish there was something more unique to his lyrical tempo but with this genre that's not likely to happen any time soon.

No one had a problem with MGK when he was a Rapper, he was just another rapper, that was it. Until he dissed Eminem, Eminem tore MGK a new asshole and MGK had to pack his bags and reinvent himself. But MGK reinvents himself as a caricature of the 2000’s PoP Punk/Emo stuff, and it’s like of all the genres you could’ve picked to try and do, you chose PoP Punk?. PoP Punk is Punk music for Kids, it’s one of the least intimidating genres of music ever, how can you take anyone seriously in the PoP Punk genre?. He just dissed Eminem which is the Hip Hop equivalent of facing Mike Tyson, to then go and do PoP Punk, which would be the analogy of someone getting their ass kicked by Mike Tyson, to then struggling against fucking Jake Paul, how can you be taken seriously after that?. MGK has this attitude of having pent up aggression and he might lose it, but is in a genre of Na, Nah, Nah, Nah, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, of fucking PoP Punk 😂, or as I like to call it ChipmunkCore or NickelodeonCore.

@@klmn4346 Nobody above the age of 15 likes MGK lol. Also the irony in calling someone else salty while leaving multiple salty comments in the chat is peak 👌comedy
I know you are DT huge fan but can you suggest me some great prog bands? I like Symphony X. Russell Allen voice sounds good for me maybe not that technical as a band.
Once again, love your fair critique’s and acknowledging you wish him well even tho you dont like it. Refreshing
He literally is a rehash of crappy blink 182.
It’s definitely one of his better songs
That says alot
As someone who just felt like he was a wanker before now, the meaning of this song gives me some respect to who he is and what he’s dealing with mentally.
I had the umbilical chord wrapped around my neck too when I was born.
Sounds like a Shinoda track.....
Watching with baited breath
Not a fan of mgk but this new song i dont hate I definitely don't think it's good and imo it's pretty bad but it's the first time I've heard something by him and actually understand why he has an audience and why people listen to him,it actually feels like a genuine song so I'll give him props for that
Yeah, that's like most of his entire catalog. This video was absolute hater garbage tho
The one time I won’t dislike him because who could imagine being overwhelmed by such ruthless scathing criticism, kind of criticism that jumps the shark
Like seriously, the razor guitar is the ugliest thing you’ve ever seen? Have you seen the headless freaks out there?
Hey Mike, I know this has nothing to do with the video, but how do you feel about the rock band Boston?
Mike gives zero fucks about where MGK stands on guitar playing, that's why we love him. 😎
I think MGK is a d-bag. But overall, his pop-punk stuff gets more hate than it deserves. Is it super deep and intellectually stimulating? Not particularly. But it’s fun to listen to.
“I think mgk is a d-bag” but I’ve never met the guy in my life lmaooo
the razor blade guitar is slightly gimmicy but its a fine guitar while standing but not sure cause i probbaly cant afford to buy one .
Anyone know what the weird singlecut in mikes background Is?
I never skip your sponsors man 😂
In my humble opinion, if MGK really wants to get treated seriously, he needs to stop with trying to shock people and start being genuine, especially if he's suffering.
I think if you actually knew more about mgk and had any knowledge of his music, you probably wouldn't have made this comment
Have you listened to his music lol?
Lmao the "im not pictured here" thing has me bust out laughing and idk how i deel about that
Have you ever remixed "Loveless?" You should remix it. It's still missing something. Maybe you don't like it. I don't quite understand your tastes. I respect what you do.
Balanced, as all things should be
See i never really liked MGK when with his rap, it wasnt awful but really enjoyed when he changed generes and played more pop rock.
I listen to almost anything these day's, i grew up on classic rock and obviously grew intoy own person.
I feel damn sad for MGK, most people only dont like the bloke because he went againts eminem, like eminem dont need stans backing him, he can look aftwr himself easily enough.
Hope you're doing well, BecomeTheKnight.
I just honestly can't understand how somebody can listen to this lack of vocal melody. Its nauseating after like 15 seconds.
I got black out ice never been depressed in my life
Why?
Stevie t actually likes Mgks music he was just making fun of him like he does with his other favorite artists
The lead singer to from ashes to new has the same kind of tattoo is he not OK? A few other metal artists have done the same.
what is the white guitar on the left?
Martin D28
Yeah, sure is. lol @@ParkourRhett
@@DrMurdercock 😂
Yeah he made a little $$$ and we could be a little jelly, but it’s the fact he was able to sample some of Megan Fox that’s where it’s a utter sin.
Less filling bro!
Those strings are sick!!
Im a miracle baby as well. Gotta be greatful Im still alive get to enjoy lifes passions.
i was super stoked when Tickets to my Downfall came out. i never liked MGK as a rapper and TtmD felt like him finally coming out as his true self. hes always beena poppunker going all the way back to collabs with kellin quinn like 12 years ago.
i went to see him at riotfest 2021 and was supremely disappointedd when he dissed Slipknot and i knew after that that no one would have whatever little respect he had previously earned. hes kinda a little shithead
He was booed by the entire Louder Than Life crowd shortly after that, it was great. Out of a couple decades of going to music festivals I've never seen anyone get booed and hated to that level.😅
didn't have to tell me, lol but this video is still fire.
Machine gun kelly is awesome.
I didn't realize others were born with the umbilical chord around their neck too
Couldn't finish the video, That song is the worst thing since the Falling In Reverse Piano song. This guy just wants to be Ronnie Radke.
Miracle baby.... Dude. C'mon.
All I wish for him is to get better both as an artist and mental health wise.
Yo I also had the cord wrapped around my neck tf this seems more common than I thought haha
Yo! I was born the same way! Wild!
To anyone else out there who’s a miracle baby, it’s only a good thing. Most of us don’t understand the blessing we are to others until we experience a newborn baby as a blessing for ourselves. Speaking from recent revelation
I just don't like his voice, it's sounds bad to me, not referring to his ability to rap or sing well bc if the instrumental behind him rapping/singing was any good, I could probably tolerate it better. it's like how I feel about Megadeth(and no not comparing MGK to Dave so don't come for me lol)
I mean I have an issue w/Mustaine's voice but the instrumental behind him is so good that it makes it tolerable enough to listen to and really enjoy 🤷🏻♀️
Booooooo.
if lack of empathy would be a person:
I actually shat inside the womb + my birth father was supposedly sterile lmao 😂😅
Auto-tune is never preferred. Cher did it 3 decades ago. So Boomer. I don't even bother with modern artists who still use it. To me, it just means they can't sing. We already had auto-beat, for musicians who can't play drums.
Doesn't recognizing something as good art count as being impressed?
Whoa, whoa, whoa there buddy!!! At the end of video you mention that you “hope I have my mind changed” implying I have an open mind and actually want to learn something??? Is that how people use the internet??? I just want to hear people saying what I already think and surround myself with people whose ideals and beliefs and tastes are exactly like mine! Okay, pal?!!! Hahahaha! Kidding!!! Fist bump on miracle baby and fist bump for being truthful and honest! Honesty is no longer fashionable and fashion is everything… I heard some guy who thinks just like me say that once, so now I’m stealing it and acting like I came up with it!!! For real though, respect to you Mike!!! And even MGK. I wish I had a couple signature guitars and got to “wake up” next to Megan Fox… so… he has my respect
Whatever he's going for, the guy from Highly Suspect is doing it way better.
Mgk’s guitar playing belongs on one of the guitar try not to cringe challenge videos you’ve made before🗣️
Honestly the style MGK goes for is like that white rap/emo rap style and it’s very grating, you used footage of Travis Scott but personally I find his music and style very different and very creative compared to stuff like MGK which I can’t stand
MGK and Stevie T are equally cringe.
like MGK
Mike... lol... dude... okay first .. im not into MGK... Dont care... lol... but that first lyric line... where you were like "eh... i dont get it.."
Its an after sex thing. Ya know... so uh... you got a towel? Lol.
Youre very high minded... so you not getting that very base thing is very... wholesome.
A poetry with a backing track, so basically... rap.
HATERS GONNA HATE.......
You're a troll trying to make money
I hope your days are blessed and your life fulfilling
Well at least he went back to hip hop?
The music is painfuly predictable but at least his lyrics are honest. Wish there was something more unique to his lyrical tempo but with this genre that's not likely to happen any time soon.
Yeah, I can't say I'd ever want to listen to it. But one thing at a time lol. Getting some good lyrics from him and acknowledging his damage I think is a great first step.
He has songs like that. A song like this doesn’t need him doing lyrical acrobats though it’s a straightforward story sobg
Terrible reaction but thanks for the vid i guess
what does terrible reaction mean and look like?
Um.....where does it say "reaction" anywhere?
@@BecomeTheKnight
@@BecomeTheKnight love these emojis lol
@@BecomeTheKnight lmao okay bro, so listening to a song and then talking about it and giving your opinion is not a reaction?? I'm curious what you think a reaction is?
Well his "emo era" didnt last long...what a poser
happy to be part of the having-your-umbilical-cord-wrapped-around-your-neck-in-the-womb club! (i think we should stick to miracle baby club despite the vagueness lol.) three times in my case!
Sounds like bro needs some therapy. Daddy issues are no bueno. Also, +1 on Jesus Christ.
I'd be willing to bet your highest viewed videos are mgk related.
You would lose that bet
@@BecomeTheKnight You right, I would lose that bet right now. But all of your videos that break 400k are at least four years old. You're video with mgk and Cory in one year has almost 400k Give it three more years lol
you seem way full of yourself, wanting someone to better is one thing. Hating is another, people dont like people that do things better than them so they become negative energies. I suggest you look inward. MGK has problems but i think you need to address yours.
Nobody likes MGK other than 12 yr old girls with bad taste in music
Jesus saves ,jesus is king 👑👑,Amen
People with blackout tattoos hate themselves, how??
“Acting like a broken person” lmao these people are clueless. Go ahead though hate on him cause it’s trendy
Gay men don't usually go for the full beard like you do, haven't seen that too much and "water pistol kelly" is the embodiment of cringe.
