Thank you, Helene. I made this hat and my honey and love how it came out. I will be making this one again. I will follow the measurement guide the next time. LOL! You are a great teacher. Papa Dios te bendiga = Father God bless you.
I'm so glad it worked out and you're both happy! Thank you for your kind feedback. 😍 If you need it smaller, can go down a hook size and/or use a thinner #4 weight. Like a worsted, with about 200 yds. per 110g/3.5 oz. I designed the brim to be wider than average, for more protection from the elements during winter months. ❄️☔️💨
Good Morning my friend, and Happy Sunday! I love this new cap, and it looks so cute on you. Thank you for sharing some really great tips, and for showing the cap in different yarns too. I hope that everyone will give it a try, and let you know what they think. I got your last message, and Smiles from J.
Wonderful Jackie! I hope it turns out great! Looks like you're either a night owl or super early riser! Either way, I certainly appreciate you spending your time with me. 😍
I can’t sleep till 3 or so my puppy always wants to go out at that time, and sleep in except today I was up at 7AM cause I’m babysitting my Fur Grandbaby, she’s a very good puppy and love her to death. Polmarain, can’t spell it
Someone asked me for this exact same hat, and i didn't want to buy a pattern. You are amazing, and this tutorial is great! Thank you so much for this 💗 i also love your channel, and im subbibg and tuning in every time you post because you make beautiful things. Also your videos make me feel all warm and cozy while I crochet even in the early summer and I love it. Thank you again!
Oh my goodness. Thank you so very much for your beautiful thoughts. It truly means a lot to me, and you’ve really brightened my day! 😍 I have a similar cap, in a warm weather/summer version you may also like. And a new sun hat coming soon! Thank you for watching, and being part of my crochet family. ⭐️💗🌸💗🙌
Your welcome! You really help me with crocheting because I'm a 12yo crochetist and you help me learn more to get better at crocheting so you very welcome!
Hello! I’m just now seeing your lovely comment. I don’t know why it didn’t show up until now; but I sure appreciate it, and really happy you like my pattern! 🥰
Love this hat I have been looking for something like this. I will definitely be trying this. You're tutorial is clear and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing this and for all of your efforts in providing the timestamps! It is very helpful. Good luck.
I just found your Chanel by scrolling through the comments on Preston’s channel Yarn as a second language. I thought I knew all the crochet channels and I was pleasantly surprised to find yours! Beautiful newspaper boy hat!! I just love the style!!! Look forward to watching some of your other videos! Sending love your way 😍
Hi Helene, I love this hat pattern, you did such a great job on the design and the button really sets it off. I love your snow, we finally got a few inches last night, so pretty.
Hi Cheryl! Thank you so kindly on my hat. I could keep making them till the cows come home! 😀 Nice you got a little snow. ❄️ Would you like some more? We're getting tons this year so far and the mountains a great and needed snowpack. So pretty; but oh man, A LOT of work!! Just plowed and woke to another foot! Then it rained today making thick slush + re-freezing tonight = hibernation! ⛸⛸
September 2022 heading into fall so glad I found you using arcylic yarn we have 8 months of harsh winters up here! Already made the cap using 4 mm hook dbc. Was 76 stitches in the end intotal. Thanks for job well done. I see a lot of other cap makers out there with cotton but not many with just regular yarn! I watched you i listened,,, i did it ,,, but to watch you And do it... u lost me at the first stitch mark placements. Lol So I just carried on listening and stitching lol ty from Canada Alberta!
Hi! I like your channel name! Wow, 8 months of winter. Intense! Would def need a lot of cold weather gear! I’m sorry if the first brim placement wasn’t clear. I’ll rewatch, see if there’s an editing error I missed. 💁🏻♀️ So glad you were able to figure it out and fantastic coming up with your own, using smaller stitches and hook size! 👏 This is my cool weather version that also works great in wool. I have a summer baseball cap too, with optional pony tail port that I did work up in mercerized cotton and cotton blends. Here’s the link if you want to check it out sometime. ruclips.net/video/3sBrAroAXP8/видео.html 💙
I'm so glad I found this video. It's just what my friend asked me to make for her with a pom pom . I bet that will look good. Working on it now. Thank you for this hat.
Thanks Helene my cap 🧢 turned out great. It was my first attempt l battled a bit with the brim but all's well that ends well. Looks great on me. I just finished it l think it needs a lovely scarf the same yarn to match it. I did one extra row when increasing in the beginning so when it came to the brim I had a bit of a problem with the stitches mine were 10 more nevertheless I worked them out like 5 extra on each side with stitch markers and then I went according to your stitches. Sending hugs from faraway Greece ❤️
I just found your channel tonight, and that tutorial was excellent. Thank you 🌷🌹🌻. My brim turned out perfect. 😍 I really appreciate your clear explanations, especially how to finish the reverse sc. 💙
Oh thank you so much, Kate! Wonderful knowing you enjoyed my pattern and tutorial, and the feedback on what you found especially helpful, too. Happy crocheting and have fun wearing your new hat!! 💜
Oh yay! Thank you so much and for being a part of my channel! Very happy you found me and subbed. 😍 I also have a summer baseball cap version, with a pony tail port. In my Hats playlist.
I have a question… when you did the 4 rows of single crochet… did you use the smaller 5 mm hook?!? I was not sure if it was the same size used when doing the beginning part of the hat… with the 5.5 mm hook. Thank you… Holly
Okay…so for the band, this is where you can customize the size by changing hook sizes, if needed. For a man or ladies XL, stay with the I-5.5mm. Ladies average, go down to the H-5.0 mm. If you’re petit and making the ladies small, then you’re already using an H-hook; so stick with that throughout the entire hat. Hope that clarifies it and your hat fits as you like. It should feel a little snug to start, since yarn stretches and that way it won’t be too loose once it adjusts to your head shape. Thanks again, Holly! Take care, hope you have lovely weekend. Helene 🌷
Oh yes, of course. I usually include that part, and I thank you for asking. The info is also now in the description section. Rnd 1: 6 cl ~ Rnd 2: 12 cl ~ Rnd 3: 18 cl ~ Rnd 4: 24 cl ~ Rnd 5: 30 cl ~ Rnds 6-8 maintaining 30 cl (no more inc.) 💜
Hi, I am making this hat with a thinner yarn. Therefore, I had 42 clusters instead of 30 in the video. May I know at which point should I add the additional single crochet for the band.
Hello Ester. I'm so happy you're making the hat! If I'm understanding your question correctly, the best way is to start your single crochet rounds approx. 1" above the top of your ear. Then work as many sc rounds as it takes to reach just below the top of your ear or just below your hair line. You will gain more length to the hat after the last two finishing rounds. Hope that makes sense and helps! 💗
Hi again! I price mine at $34 USD for acrylic and $38-40 for wool, depending on cost and type/brand. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching! 🤗
Im on my second hat now, and fprthe life of me I cannot understand why stitching into 30 clusters plus 2 more on the band row 1 is giving me only 60 stitches. There's definitely 30 clusters.... I'm making up the rest of the hat for the second time, but the first hat looks good anyway.
That's likely because on the first round of the band, you're also supposed to place 2 sc, in the 30th stitch; and 2 sc in the last, to equal 62 sc. I'm really glad your first hat still came out nicely! 😅 Can be frustrating, otherwise. Thank you for watching, and making❣️ I hope this helps.
If you’re a confident beginner possibly. The cap portion is easy. The brim is intermediate and a little tricky; but I take you through step-by-step, with good instruction. So, only one way to find out is give it a try!
Hello and thank you for letting me know. At which part of the brim are you having difficulty? Wondering if I can help you through it. I also have a summer version, brim worked the same way.
