    Hi Gary, Great tutorial on installing oversize valve! One tip to make your expensive reamer last is NOT to reverse them. Use a good lubricant and low rpm and one direction of rotation for in and out. Thanks again and your passion for transmission repair is very apparent. Thanks and great job.

      Whats the problem with the trans?

    • @daveyio87

      Iv'e had a 2-3 shudder id say for the last 40k. Then recently the vehicle started bucking 2-3 and sometimes 3-4 it was acting like it was going upshifting and downshifting at the same time. I never took a line pressure reading on it but to me it felt like it was loosing pressure. I work for GM so i called gm tech assist and they told me to replace the valve body and reseal transmission as needed. I normally don't work on transmissions and this is my own car so I searched on Sonnax's website and saw the symptom of a 2-3 shudder and to replaced the pressure regulator valve with an over sized one. I'm also replacing the boost valve and sleeve with their updated one. Also i'm replacing the pressure control solenoid and the shift solenoids.

    Hi Gary...just a tip to help you out on the calibration of your vacuum gauge which is incorrect. When you adjust the gauge for a reading of 5" Hg, turn the 'PUMP' knob on the right. Once that is correct, block the small hole as you've done and adjust the 'BLEED' knob on the left for a reading of 25" Hg. Repeat the procedure above until you get the 5" and 25" Hg. You'll probably see that you can get the 25" Hg. Take care Gary...

      stuzman also keep in mind that the hole on tool used to calibrate is .030 in size,meaning that a 5in vacuum equals .030 size leak

    Hi Gary
    I understand how a bore could get worn, causing the valves not to seal...
    But what would cause a valve to be binding in its bore?
    I have the valve body off a 2012 Nissan Altima CVT (JFO11E REOF10A)
    The ratio control valve, seems to be sticking or binding slightly. Tore it all apart, cleaned it well, and checked all valves. This is the only one that has issues. Put trans back together and im getting a stepper motor code (P1778)
    But stepper motor specs out good when i ohm test the coils.
    Any ideas? It has to be the ratio control valve sticking thats causing this... it connects to the stepper motor.

    Hi gary the valve body must be clean from any oil specially during vacum test .thx for the video

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  8 лет назад

      +Mostafa Ameri Yes, i like to have it clean during the process, during the process i use the cutting oil, thats the only oil i use for this

    • @eau13356
      @eau13356 7 лет назад

      Great video. But I have the same opinion as Mostafa, if there is oil on the valve body the vacum reading will higer, thus making an incoherent reading. Gary can clarify this? Thanks.

    why would only the low/reverse clutches be burned on a 95 4l60e, thanks or more specifically, what valve or section of the valve body controls the low/reverse clutch activation in the 4l60e E?

    Hey Gary! Thanks for the video man.
    Is there a way for the next guy that might work on this say in 20 years from now to know that there is a modified valve in the valve body?
    Also did this fix the trans? Thanks! I'm sure it did but had to ask, LOL!

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  8 лет назад

      +ILTSYC Yes it did fix the trans, This valve is redesigned, so if they know what the factory valve looks like, they will know it was updated. Hope all is well, any transmissions your currently working on?

      No need another one to work on LOL!
      I might get a Nissan truck for almost nothing for one of my girls. It needs transmission work.
      One of our employee's has an 03 F-150 with no forwards gears but has reverse. I haven't offered to work on it, I really need my own scanner before I start taking in transmission work.

    Hello sir please help! I want to install an automatic transmission in my car but I don't have the TCU so I was wondering is it possible to control the solenoids my self by supplying 12v to shift gear up and down while driving???????

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  7 лет назад

      Well, thats kinda hard to do, i have an interface machine that does that, but just running wires, you would have to supply 12 volts when needed to shift, you would also have to regulate the voltage on the epc soleniod which uses low volts(12 volts too much)

    • @GeeZee23

      4L60E and no just a regular obdII scanner but it’s driving fine after the valve body was replaced but like you said in in video it pops back on after 15-30 miles of driving or so. I think it may just be something simple as a o2 sensor but idk any suggestions.should I just give it time to kinda break all the new parts in and see if it goes away.

      @@GeeZee23 ok, couple of questions, How long ago was the trans repaired? the valvebody, was it a good used one. I may have you drop the valvebody and block the reg valve and the isolator valve, i have a video on how to do this, if the code comes back, may be something with pump or converter. The TCC PWM Solenoid was changed?
