  • In this video, i teardown this 722.9 because it stopped moving when hot, The filter was clogged due to at some point water was inside the transmission and it was actually the converter clutches coming apart and clogging the filter. Thanks for watching, off to the shop.

    OK, I am confused. You had stated that during the test drive, it sounded like a clogged filter. At 15:50, you removed the pan. Where is the filter???

      we dropped the pan and i cut the filter open to confirm

    Given how dark the trans fluid looked and all the gunk i e bottom of what was termed a new transmission pan, it is not surprising that all the clutches seem to be burned up. Water in the transmission can only come from two, places: (1) a faulty trans oil cooler if it used a water to oil cooler; or (2) a faulty transmission air vent that allowed water into the transmission when someone was off roading the vehicle through a stream or the vehicle was in a flood.

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  10 месяцев назад

      correct, in this case i think it was the cooler

    Looks like you are getting to like working on this type of transmission/ like the confidence and flow of work in which you are handling your carefully inspection.

    I watched your valve body video on the 722.9 and used it as a guide to replace the conductor plate on my 2007 S550. Very helpful. All the codes went away as well as the limp mode issue. The only problem is a 3-4 upshift flare only when cold. Any insight as to why this happens only when cold? I replaced the filter and changed the fluid in addition to disassembling the valve body to clean it. Neither that nor the fluid, filter or pan were dirty beforehand. All the valves in the valve body moved freely. Could one of them be worn out of spec? Do any shops have a testing service for the valve body?

      make sure no codes are present for trans or engine drive for a few days doing starts and stops (letting it upshift through the gears) see if anything changes, where did you get the plate from?

    Parabéns pelo vídeo Sr gary.
    O senhor sabe dizer se tem alguma opção alternativa sobre a chave seletora do 4L30E. Ficaria grato pela dica.
    Muito obrigado.

    I have a 722.9 from an 09 e350 155k that has an issue, it will only shift to 2nd gear and that's it. Was expecting a speed sensor code but the only TCM code is 0894 - gear implausible, trans slipping. ECU also has only 1 code 1789, fault present in TCM. I guess I can pretty much rule out the conductor plate and assume it needs a rebuild? Thanks.

    Great tear down! When you say you were getting the proper licensing for a valve body, can you please elaborate, what do you mean by that? Thanks you make some awesome videos!

    Hello Garry. Greetings from Turkey. You should now have Turkish subtitles on your videos. You are a super master. I follow you with pleasure. I find your videos extremely useful. However, since there is no Turkish subtitle option, I do not understand most of what you say. You are an excellent master. Thank you.

    That was was messy. Kinda looked like maybe the trans was submerged or flooded to get that kind of water in it. Can’t see the cooler doing that as there wasn’t a milkshake.

    All that rust, that is the worst I have seen you do in a long time. The 4MATIC was a little too weak for the M278 engine, especially in the heavy models.
