KCNA WATCH: The people in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea celebrated the lunar New Year's Day in Juche 113(2024).
Working people, service personnel of the People's Army and school youth and children visited the bronze statues and smiling portraits of the great leaders on Mansu Hill and in other places, laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers and paid a tribute to them.
A concert of the National Symphony Orchestra took place at the Moranbong Theatre, a performance of the National Acrobatic Troupe and the National Folk Art Troupe at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre and the one-act play "The Man I Want" at the National Theatre on the occasion of the lunar New Year's Day.
Colourful art performances were given in different parts of the country.
That day, a national kite-flying contest of schoolchildren was held at Kim Il Sung Square.
Folk games of schoolchildren were also played in different places including Pyongyang City, Jagang and Kangwon Provinces and Kaesong City.
People were entertained with festive foods at public service amenities across the country and enjoyed themselves at the Rungna People's Pleasure Ground, the Amusement Park of Kaeson Youth Park and others.
The splendid lighting decorations in all parts of the capital city made the night of the lunar New Year's Day conspicuous.

So cool, NYC (where I am from) does a lot of these things, but it looks so much more festive in North Korea with all of the special decorations and activities. It would be cool to be there celebrating! I also like how much cleaner North Korea is than NYC and the rest of New York.

If I ever went there, I would laugh. You know, because I never been somewhere like that. However I wouldn't be able to listen to Led Zeppelin - Mothership. The album is my most favorite. I think the Russian/Chinese Holidays are only allowed in the country
As china is a close partner for n korea, they of course have Chinese traditions. Mainly western influence is perceived as bad
north koreans can legally buy disney movies at local stores. they had the good dinosaur on dvd the same year it came out

Korean celebrate lunar newyear too. But in south korea they prefer say it as lunar newyear than chinese newyear. Even they adopt the chinese surname and chinese tradition but they didnt want to be chinese

In China they can use any smartphones they want
They use fairly modern smartphones from what I've seen but honestly can't tell what brand or quality, and it can only access north korean intranet.
