Tom Richey explains the powers of the distinctive characteristics of the two houses of the United States Congress: the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate is the Upper House of Congress where all states are represented equally in a small legislative body with aristocratic traditions. The House of Representatives, or Lower House, is a larger body with seats apportioned based on population. In addition to its unique aristocratic traditions of "senatorial courtesy," the Senate has the distinct powers of ratifying treaties and confirming presidential appointments to the federal bench, the cabinet, and of foreign ambassadors. The House, being closest to the people and elected more often, has the sole authority to initiate revenue (taxation) bills.
This material can be found in Chapter 12 of the Edwards text for AP Government in case anyone cares.

So, the senate is also called the upper house? Is it also the lower house? What about in Rome? I really, really need an explanation about how it was in Rome, particularly Köln. I have to write a presentation about this, and it has to be done soon. And by soon, I mean an hour, or atleast by tomorrow. Dammit, I shouldn't have procrastinated!

They can also ratify or reject treaties. The House however has the power where Revenue and taxes must pass through here.

Back in the old days, politicians live, shopped, got their haircut, ate with the people, the people would stop them in town and let him know what they thought of him, So they had to face the consequences of his policies on a personal level, Now politicians may not live in town, city, county or even state. Thus politicians can hide away from the people, even the people they ripped off. They don't have to be face to face with their voters, and since politics is so much more complex now, and most people don't really understand politics, they can hide behind the political complexcity.,

However, I found via Wikipedia that “senatorial courtesy ” is “a custom whereby presidential appointments are confirmed only if there is no objection to them by the senators from the appointee's state, especially from the senior senator of the president's party from that state.” Hope that you can clarify on that. America is a republic, not a democracy. Therefore the house would be more representative of the people rather than democratic as you incorrectly describe.

It's meaningless to say things like "America is a republic, not a democracy" - only stupid uneducated Republicans say that kind of shit. Republicans are the same as Democrats. These are simply forms of religion, which makes them synonymous with a cult. Bow down before the one you serve and you'll get what you deserve.
P.S. Reagan and Trump were both previously motion picture celebrities and Republican, with blind followers. No Democrat POTUS has held such credentials prior to assuming office. Now you know.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and blindly say you are a Republican. The things I blindly do are based on government sources and reports from mainstream media. Now you can say something stupid about mainstream media. When you do don't forget to list your source.

    • @Swordmaster7th

@@artdogg50 well idk about you, but I don't know of any riots happening when Republicans lose anything. Democrats are animals. Anymore, I feel that republicans are beginning to be more progressive these days while democrats run on blind hate for decision making. If you think that blaming a white person or blaming a man for your problems will solve them, you need to reevaluate you life, because that's the most racist sexist shit ever.
I voted Obama 2 times, and you know why? Cause he was black. I thought it would bring the world together more. But when I voted Trump I'm a racist sexist Nazi. I'm Republican now because this is literally turning into the sane lawful vs the insane emotional people.
I was wrong to vote for Obama for the reason I did. Voting because of race or gender is wrong, no matter what. Voting for someone based on the person is what matters. Trump is outgoing and aggressive, but you know what he is that many others aren't? He is genuine, he doesn't hide what he's thinking. He means what he says and gets to the point. He personality made him the successful person he is.
The news is not news either anymore. No one listens to good news, it doesnt make money. It's a bias opinion drama show anymore, negative criticisms get views and finances, and many of you are just swallowing it. Late night shows are just as bad, it used to be funny, but now it's just a comedian spewing bias views. If you think Trump is racist against Mexicans because he wants to enforce legal immigration, your plain stupid. Legal immigrating brings in people with a good background also bringing in people who ACTUALLY BOTHER to follow the law. That's not racism, that is anti illegal immigration.
If you do not bother to do your own research and just believe one resource, your decision won't be accurate. And so after explaining this, from now on until democrats get their act together, I'm voting republican. But then again that's my so called evil opinion.

Emily Woeber California has 53 representatives and Alaska only has 1. The dichotomy between the House and the Senate is the fairest system of representation ever devised. If the Senate was like the House, the majority could utterly impose their will on the minority without consequence.
