I don’t watch the channel for the pigs, the cows or the chickens, I watch the channel for the story… understanding the unique perspective and challenges that you face is interesting to me and provides me insight into the farms that I buy my beef from here on Onondaga Hill… the value of this not solely from an entertainment perspective cannot be understated and I truly appreciate it…in my opinion some of the qualities that have made your channel a success is the story, the transparency and honesty and the variety of content included, I never miss an episode and truly enjoy it, thank you

We agree, plus the added intrigue of vintage machinery which he documents carefully and fully (in some instances his machines seldom go about in their "working clothes"). Pete "ain't scairt" of pullin' stuff down, as he has the confidence he can put it back together. Truly a "clock-maker's heart" here.

This what I like, your calm, measured, sensible approach to everything. Removing the stress from your life and everyone watching your videos lives for that 20 or so minutes. Doesn’t matter what you are doing it is soothing for us that watch. To be honest although I liked the pigs I’m glad you aren’t getting pasture ones this year. Plus the old sty area must make it so much more comfortable for Hilary with the chicks. I’m dreading the day that Patty goes but she has had the best life thanks to you.

Still an amazing channel. As it has changed and evolved over the years, the underpinnings have remained the same- a channel showing the joys and challenges of the farm, presented straightforward and honestly. No long, drawn out jibber jabber to stretch the video, no nonsensical music or special effects…….just a decent man giving a glimpse into a wholesome and rewarding life. Don’t change a thing.

Hi Pete. Thanks for putting out these videos. Im a retired Serviceman and Corporate Security Operative in Australia getting back to my roots. initially started watching about 2 months ago to get some insight into hay making and beef. Similar to your Dexters, I'm currently putting together my foundation herd of Lowline Hefiers artificially inseminated to calf. After a couple of seasons and gained experience, I hope to acquire a quality bull.
Your own approach to farming has inspired me to branch out to incorporate other aspects to farming, such as small-scale pasture raised broilers and laying hens mostly for home use and surplus income. Thoroughly enjoy your content so much, so I've gone through your back catalogue and am almost caught up.
All the best until next time

Great plan for easing off of the fast pace that you have been doing for the past years. It's not an easy life, there on the farm, and being able to let some of the stress go makes it more like when the dream started only with less physical involvement. Y'all have worked hard, raised a fine family (humans and critteers), and now are deservedly slowing down. As long as I can hold onto this diminishing life of mine, I will enjoy your tinkering, gardening, and herding. All the best to you and the family, Pete.

Your farm and channel are always like a breath of fresh air. The lack of pigs on the farm will only serve to sweeten the aroma. Not having hogs is the smartest decision you made for your operation. Your dexters are nicer and a t-bone is bigger than a pork chop. Keep up the great content!

Hogs are very stressful!!! People who haven't been around them don't know how mean some of them can be and you really have to watch them as you are in with them they will bite to the bone and go crazy with the smell of blood! My Grandpa raised them, he would bring up a baby pig for us to pet, but he told us to never go in the sow barn, one day he was really upset, told Grandma a sow just ate her entire litter! 😢

Pete, when I was a child going up on a ranch in Northern California, most of the ranchers and farmers were just like you. They had a genuine relationship with their animals or the earth. They cared deeply about making it as good as you could get it. Their sense of community was also profound. I’m 62 now, and I’m so happy to see that there are people still like that around.

Hats off to you for taking the decision to start the wind down towards retirement. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate hearing how pragmatic that decision is as it is a tough one. I just entered that stage of life and I have found there is a real lack of positive roll models who can demonstrate the reality of how practical it is to consider the options, look at where you are at in your life, ask yourself “What do I want to do and what do I not want to do” and go from there. Your decision process over the past year in regard to this pivotal decision has been helpful for me and reaffirming as well. Thank you to both of you.

I watch the channel for anything you put out. It is all farming to me and I loved living on a farm. Hope things work out and the weather cooperates. My dad had pigs, but since he worked full time (nights) it was difficulty for him to be there, so he stopped doing that. After he got old he would work on the garden, even figuring out how to use the rototiller after he became mostly blind. He would use strings to be able to plant his rows and just enjoyed giving his produce to anyone who wanted it. He loved feeding people. Thanks for the video.

One thing I like about your channel is how you show managing a farm and life on a balance/ maintenance mode, or as you put it, a wind down mode. Pretty much everyone else out there is all about growing and getting bigger and faster, but you are showing how good life is when you have “enough”. If you write another book you can call it, “zen and the art of tractor maintenance”😊

Yes I miss the pigs and the turkeys. But that being said you have to do what’s right for you. I still enjoy watching your videos. I am 63 almost 64 farm kid and veteran. I enjoy your videos because they remind me of when I was younger and could do everything. Now I am just an old broken down person. Thank You for your time and videos. Please keep them coming.

I'll be anxious to see the drainage project with the 'new' excavator! There's always something interesting to look forward to. I greatly appreciate the tips and tricks for gardening! I always learn important new stuff.
Thanks for all you do, Pete!

I just moved my first batch of broilers out to the field. I enjoy sitting and watching their reactions to the new environment. "What is that green stuff?" Of course, I'm paraphrasing.

Prior to Covid, we never gave any thought to where our food originated from or what the quality was like. Now, we buy all of our meat from a local butcher and eggs from a local farm. You provide an excellent education on how a local farm operates and how your various products are raised naturally. Now, if we could locate a farm that raises toilet paper and cleaning products.....

I missed seeing Titus when you were greeting his partner in crime at the beginning of the video. Ordin's looking good and thick. Thanks for the video, Pete! God bless you two in your efforts.

I love seeing the updates and future planning of the farm Pete! I miss the pigs and turkeys but you and Hilary seem a lot more relaxed and happy not having to stress over them and that’s great to see!

That’s what it is when you have animals, always difficult to leave the farm . Its always on markets-day an animal breaks out behind the work that we leave behind ! Have a good day!

I'm 75 now, so it's been a while and my uncles are gone now. When I was a kid, we spend summer vacation on my Swedish uncles' N. W. Minnesota farms. I once asked one uncle why they called the milk cows in with "Hey, Bossy, Bossy. Hey, Bossy, Bossy " None were named "Bossy". He said, "Because, that's how everyone calls cows !"

So few people get to do what they really enjoy for a living. Peace of mind & the feeling of fulfilment. Not meaning this in a monetary way, you are a very rich person, Pete. As the Aussies say, "Good on you, Sport", you & Hillarie deserve it.

Always a pleasure, Pete. Don't let the mountain of parts start talking to you, for surely the commenters, having now seen them, will come forth and breath into them impatient energy.
    All in good time. 👍

I too miss the pigs but you know what? I found another channel for that! And continue to etch you because like you said there is so much more to the channel. And like another commenter said you could do rocks only and I'd still watch you. The voice, life lessons it's all worth it. And goodness there is way too much to stress us out we don't need to add to it. Plus were not getting any younger and that's from someone who has years on you and Hillary. Keep up the good work!!!

I am 48 years old. Have spent a life time on the farm and outdoors. I have seen the vines wrap to counter clockwise but never pairs attention to it. Muscadine grapes, wild blackberries, ivy’s saw briars. They all do it. Just never realized it.
