Thanks for the review TTL.This one is confusing. The reason is, the Shadow Base 800 was introduced recently with almost identical case dimensions as the original DB 700 , if I recall is about 550mm in length and of course a little wider because cases have gotten wider since the DB700 times. However, the 701 is a much larger case I believe that was listed as being around 565mm in length, making it larger than both the 800 and the 700. Market-wise it feels like Bequiet have shot themselves on the foot with this one and people will rather get the 800 (I think that's an excellent case) and to not forget the 901 Pro at over £300. The 701 simply feels unnecessary as the 800 has everything I've expected the 701 to have after looking forward to it's release for so long, hoping for an improved 700. Airflow: It seems great BUT I'm unsure why they ditched the original PSU shroud mounted fan which was good (I'm idling my 7800XT at 32c on my DB700). Currently the fan mount is rather far from the GPU, only hitting the front of it. This case is larger as well so the fan mount is further. BeQuiet says they've added the fan mount at the bottom of the case under the angled vents, which looks quite distant from it given that the clearance between PSU and front is HUGE. I love my 700 and have had it since around 2018!🎉
I much prefer this Dark Base 701 case to the Shadow Base 800 because they're relatively the same size but the 701 offers that nice retractible roof tray to fit your radiator to. The Shadow Base 800 does not.
The funny thing is its such a small feature but I would agree. So many times it is just a pain if you ever need to do maintenance etc if you can't easily remove the AIO.
I'm impressed by the right-hand side of this in the standard layout. Maybe 25-30mm on the height for rad in the roof? I like that it is 140mm fans throughout too. Perfectly acceptable as is, they should probably listen and fettle where it needs fettling for a later revision. A fair and helpful review as per; kudos for the website as well, and to whoever did the redesign. NB: Blimey! This case really pops on the website. I wasn't sure about the price before looking at the written article, but it looks reet good in the piccies. 😃👌👍What's with the bannana though?
One big nothing special for quite much. On one side man can't complain much: thumbscrews side panels; no true filter on top; not many USBs and what with the HDD cage? $? Fan controllers are amazing for average Joes, but here speeds are quite missed - 600 rpm is rather not inaudible what should be minimum speed and these fans can go way lower; 1050 rpm is quite much for mesh case and needs of almost all kind builds except of most powerhungry ones; 1900 rpm is just for thermal psychos. It's generic, just decent mesh case which costs way too much and defends only with inverted layout.
BQ and Cooler Master - one of most overrated manufacturers (of PC cases), overpriced and lost in processing. These cases have so big potentials, yet its completely wasted all around.
I have to say that having had the 800 and later the 802, now with the 901 that Bequiet are have not improved in quality or design. They have become over rated and over priced. A little research and you will discover that Bequiet cases are graded by name ie Pure Base, Silent base and Darkbase and not the number. Darkbase being the so called Top end.

Really dig this case but I am still in love with my V3000 plus. Keep up the great work bro and stay safe.
THX. The price is too high for the 701. I will take the 802.

With the O11d Evo XL coming in at the same price its a bit of a no brainer
011d XL is great design at decent price
but Evo is much wider, for those who do not have much space it's not a good choice
Cracking review Guv!
Nice review Tom
Side glass is clear or tinted? Hard to tell with all the studio lights. I hate my 4000x dark tint and Im looking for nice replacement.
Should I be able to fit 360mm arctic liquid freezer III on the top of this chassis?
Yes.

Wifey could you pop the kettle on TTL just dropped another video!
TTL says thank you please x
That is too much money for a case, granred I havent watched all the video yet but what can it do that a £70 case cant do.
inverted layout
@@MikeZak101 I was interested in this for that reason alone, but I'd rather go with the proven O11 Dynamic EVO for much less, personally.
