Roy, earlier Monday, told Fox Business that he does not believe Democrats will move to force out President Biden, despite the mounting concerns over his ability to beat former President Trump and serve a second term following his disastrous debate performance last month. But this is just the latest in a series of GOP remarks disparaging Black people as DEI, which has clearly just become a euphemism for "Black." Or even worse.

Back in the early 80s I was so happy and proud to receive the "Minority Honors Scholarship in Energy Related Curricula" from Bronx community college. My excellence in mainframe programming, keeping hardware equipment up and running combined with my ability to teach and assist in the lab was my gift. As I was taught I added my accomplishments to my resume not realizing it was a blowhorn announcing "Here is a talented woman of color you can strip-mine for her brain and skills discarding her without explanation when you're done!" A small door opened for me but I would be hired, used for my skills, and then discarded like trash. Despite this DEI scholarship and the struggles, I found a way to make it work in higher education. I was always adding achievements to my resume believing it was the key. However, each time I applied for an entry level job in a private sector computer company I would be rejected with no explanation. Once I had a receptionist vocalize her disdain for me telling me I didn't know how to dress! I was wearing a navy blue suit with a conservative white blouse! I'm a grandma now...no longer working and disabled. DEI was a two edged sword for me causing unnecessary stress. We were very poor and I was the first in my family to attend (community ) college in the Bronx. DEI was a trumpet alerting everyone who read my resume that I was a poor young woman of color who lived in the worst city in the USA.

Exactly, because DEI represents people of all ethnicities in the workforce, both men and women, including those with disabilities and people who are LGBT for sure. The diversity aspect of hiring groups of people to work collectively as a team means being inclusive and allowing for growth and development by qualified people. As far as equity, this means giving people the opportunities to create leadership in areas of management. Inclusion allows both men and women (disabled or LGBT) to participate in the decision-making process in the workplace. I think it is very disheartening, to say the least, that “them folks” have made DEI specifically about black people and our ability to be qualified for a job or not. That is such an insult, given we have been working in white-collar and blue-collar jobs, facing all types of discrimination for decades.
Biden's choice of Harris was strategic because he wanted to seal the deal by getting the majority of the black vote, especially women.
