Dee C Lee... (Onetime Mrs. Paul Weller)... helped make the 80's unforgettable for a certain generation. Her voice, her style and her beauty: matchless then and still unmatched. Thanks for the memories!
@ipanemaish also ignore the fact that my last comment makes NO sense. What I was trying to get across was the fact that Nadine, who sings the song, is very good. And I think Dee C Lee made more money, as her version was number 3 on the charts whereas GA only hit 9 (their worst position ever).
this song is beautiful, I bought the single back in 1985 and I still love it now - the song, the lyrics and Dee C Lee's voice are all perfect. And she's gorgeous too - what a combination.
I can remember watching this on Top of the Pops - I must have been 6 years old at the time. I can particularly remember seeing the bit where the Sphinx turns into Diane. One thing I didn't appreciate at that age was how beautiful she was/is. I'm sure she still is beautiful today.
I'm not a big romance person, don't care for love, PDA, and not really planning or caring to get married...But when I listen to this song I just want to grab the nearest guy and cuddle and dance with him!! Really powerful and beautiful song.
I grew up with DCLee and the style council boys, this woman was,is so sexy, what a great voice and all that support she gave to George,Andy,Paul and Mick.I will carry on watching her for evvvver!
SEE THE DAY najväčši hit britskej speváčky DEE C. LEE vl.m. Diane Catherine Sealy nar. 6. júna 1961 v Balhame v južnom Londýne. Pieseň sa v UK rebríčku objavila 9. novembra 1985 pričom skončila na 3.m. a v rebríčku zotrvala 12 týždňov. S jej cover verziou uspela dievčenská skupina Girls Aloud. V ich podaní skončila v decembri 2005 na 9.m.Dee C. Lee začala spevácku karieru na jar 1982, keď v skupine Wham nahradila vokalistku Mandy Washburn a spoločne pôsobila v nej so Shirlie Holliman nar. 18. apríla 1962 vo Watforde až do decembra 1983, kedy sa pripojila ku skupine Style Council. Vo Wham ju nahradila Helen Lawrie" Pepsi" Demacque nar. 10. decembra 1958 v Paddingtone, Londýn. Dee C. Lee spievala na albumoch skupiny Style Council Cafe Bleu a Our Favorite Shop. Skupinu založil bývalý člen Jam Paul Weller nar. 25. mája 1958 vo Wokingu spoločne s bývalým členom Merton Parkas Mickom Talbotom. Diane bola desať rokov manželkou Paula a má s ním dve deti. V UK rebričku uspela v roku 1986 na 46.m. so skladbou Come Hell Or Waters High a v roku 1993 s Guru na 25.m. s No Time To Play.
If she wrote it she must have made some big bank off of Girls Aloud. Also look at the Acts especially from Britian who did cover versions of Songs done by Black Artists and The Children most of the time don't know who did the Original. This is more Adult Contemporary, Girls Aloud is more Pop. I was really impressed by their version. Look at how much Bank Nile Rogers & Bernard Edwards made when their Songs were played or performed on UK Soil. Le Freak, Everybody Dance, and We Are Family are prime examples. NIle Rogers is still a big deal in the UK but in The US nobody knows him from Adam especially today's US Children. They want to work with either Timbaland or Pharrell Williams.
@stevobath I was saying she came to the states because no one knew her here and she wanted to avoid paparazzi. I mean, seriously, she came here and bought an Irish pub. I'm not going to try to get you to like her, I just think we should never hate on anyone we don't know based on what we see of them through the media. And on a separate note, those shows are indeed TERRIBLE, but they are my guilty pleasure, and I am NOT IQ challenged, thank you. I attend the number one English school in Montreal.
@stevobath know what she's really like, but the original point I as trying to get across was that as annoyingly false she may be, she actually does have a good voice, and she doesn't pop up in the press much, because no one really cares about her.
@stevobath Well to me "I can't stand" and "I hate" have always been the same. And there are people in the public eye who I don't have any fondness for but no one I hate or even dislike, really. Not even Justin Bieber.
@stevobath What homework are you saying I haven't done? Are you saying that I'm wrong about not hating people I haven't met? I don't think I'm smarter than you, but I think I'm not IQ challenged. I think for a 14 year old I am as smart if not smarter than at least half the population. And also, i just re-read this whole conversation and I remembered that we're talking about Nadine Coyle. You're right, she's very false, and she's always struck me as a bit of a diva. And no one here can (c)
Good song in a 60s style composition, still have the original 12 inch version. She was and still is a good singer, but like any other star its hard to keep on shining for ever
@ipanemaish I half agree, but I do think that Nadine Coyle, who's kinda the main singer (not officially but the whole group knows she's the one who can REALLY sing and she sings most of the song... And she's good. And communicates well. And Nadine is famous for not caring much about limelight or fame or beauty and more about music. She stays out of the paparazzi's eyes.
@stevobath This is exactly why I'm NOT on the debate team. Other team: And that is exactly why marijuana should be legalized. My team's rebuttal: Hmm... you know what, scratch what we said before, that team is right. I just automatically just started defending my argument and I completely forgot that Nadine Coyle kinda pissed me off. I just think she's a good singer.
@stevobath ...I live in canada and i have spent most of my life around the states and I can tell you first hand there is not a single person here who knows who the hell Girls Aloud OR Nadine Coyle are. THAT'S why she came.
Didn’t know about her singing on Broken English, always loved Coming on Strong, thanks for the info. I love music trivia, it’s gotten me lots of prizes in pub quizzes over the years............... 🤪🤟
@emmadilemmasings I was being ironic.Of course she went to the USA to try & make it big...Like I said, she failed miserably. I cant stand ANY of these 'groups' that are formed from these awful 'talent' shows. I think its TV for IQ challenged adults & kids. I cant say that I was dissapointed for her...couldnt stand her. Felt she was 'false'. Im sure she thought the IRISH voice would be an asset too!
Really she's your cousin? Did she have kids with Paul Weller. I was working in central London in the 90's and he came in with a boy and girl who were mixed race (they were having their eyes examined). I assumed that they were hers. Always loved this track and her vocals on Style Council. Is she stilll recording?
@emmadilemmasings Make your mind up..You either like her or you dont? Im a bit confused at your 'non argument' so to speak? Maybe you should join the debating society, if you have one at your school?
@emmadilemmasings Ok. Just for you I will replace 'cant stand' for 'not fond of'.. There I hope youre happy? Please dont bother answering. Lets just disagree....... :)
dc lee has a great voice and for any americans was married to paul weller; (the singer from the jam,and paul weller-stanley road album).DC LEE,PURE VOCALS AT THERE BEST.
Dee C Lee... (Onetime Mrs. Paul Weller)... helped make the 80's unforgettable for a certain generation.

Thanks for the memories!
Feel the same in 2021

very beautiful woman

ttHe original better than the girls aloud version.
I always loved this song because it has such a strong 60's Dusty Springfield/ Burt Bacarrach sound. Just awesome.
Such a strong tune. It always made me stop whatever I was doing. Simply out of this world....
this song is beautiful, I bought the single back in 1985 and I still love it now - the song, the lyrics and Dee C Lee's voice are all perfect. And she's gorgeous too - what a combination.
1985 was a great year.
I knew it was her from style council walls come tumbling down , a treasure ❤❤❤
The song that broke up Paul Weller's first marriage

Probably one of the most beautiful songs written. The words are so real.
She sings like a goddess! I love, love, love this tune :-)
1985. I was twenty five years old, bullet proof and immortal 🙂. Not quite so much these days.

This made me cry again... Decades after I lost touch with someone I loved so much and we listened to this song back in the college years! ❤
I can remember watching this on Top of the Pops - I must have been 6 years old at the time. I can particularly remember seeing the bit where the Sphinx turns into Diane. One thing I didn't appreciate at that age was how beautiful she was/is. I'm sure she still is beautiful today.

Miles better than Girls Alound.
Love Dee C Lee and this song, but she's a bit lucky if Earth, Wind & Fire didn't sue for the verse melody. #Fantasy

She was sooo hot in Wham!'s videos :P
Lovely British singer 🇬🇧🙏🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
She seems very mediocre by American standards.
Weller & DC Fab Colaboration XXXXXXXXXX

@bolderr
She is playing at Pizza on the Park, London SW1 on April 30th
Always thought this song was similar to the song at the end of First Blood called "Its a long road" sung by Dan Hill. Love both songs either way.
