This game honestly defined my childhood with me and my friends at the time. We obviously didn't know how to translate Japanese so we just improvised and added our own dialogue. Some of the most I've had in my entire life. We still quote some things we've said back then till this day(We're 34-36 now)

The lead protagonists of Namco X Capcom also make a crossover appearance in Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier, which was also developed by Monolith Soft. It plays nothing like regular SRT games, and while SRT games classically are crossover titles themselves, SRT:OG or Original Generation titles typically exclude licensed crossovers, making this even more confusing to my mind.
They're not giant mecha crossovers so I guess it doesn't count?
I've got SRT T V and X sitting in my Switch backlog pile...
What i want for Christmas is those games to put in a big collection for the ps4 and ps5 and switch for the west

they play also in the ds sequel endless frontier exceed (2010) and yes, the battle system is unique. more a mini version of the tales games but then only with 1 button and no directions, but more on timing and sutch
This game has one of the best opening songs/intros ever. Sadly I never beat this game as with many other RPG games I played back then.
yes. thats the main theme (brave new world) also in the endless frontier games (nintendo ds) project x zone 1 and 2 (nintendo 3ds) so we got it eventualy hope for project x zone 3. (nintendo switch)

Years ago, I once saw Namco X Capcom in the imports section of a Fry's Electronics here in California. One of my biggest regrets as a collector is not picking it up. I've since enjoyed Street Fighter X Tekken and the Project X Zone games. I hope they make a third one someday!
Unless you can speak Japanese it wouldn't be a great purchase anyway... check out the translation patch though, for sure.

This game series has gorgeous sprite work. Great choice in covering it!
It's ironic this control style was not seen as "Western friendly" since the project X zone games years later used an even stranger layout, to more or less success depending on who you ask. They even used the same idea of two or more characters attacking together
It would be cool if they made Namco X Capcom if they remade this in the style of Project X Zone with more improvements. This game had a more interesting roster imo

Btw yo I’ve missed a thing: between ‘Namcoxcapcom’ and ‘Project x zone’ there is also ‘Mugen no frontier/endless frontier ‘ that is a kinda spin off from the game ‘super robot wars OG’ because from that game there come: Haken, Kaguya, Phantom (the black robot) and Sanger
The Japanese version of Project X Zone 2 had a subtitle, Brave New World. This was the name of the opening title song for Namco X Capcom. When I first saw the subtitle, I thought we were finally getting an English translation.

It's been almost 3 years now since I finally got my 1st GEN PS3 console Modded and I have loved it for this exact reason as being in the USA I am always looking for ways to play these unique and bizzar titles and this title has been a great time and easy to understand and even has English, and besides all of the weird exclusives such as 7 Sins,Beserk,Paranoia Scape, Rakugaki showdown and more there is also amazing games like the cancelled Tiny Toons Universe game among others plus now subtitled by fan hacks such as the Beserk ps2 game and Jojo on Ps2. Love the strange reviews and if ur also a big fan of old Playstation stuff among others you should look into the powerful PS3 console for your emulating as it's superb and cheap enough to afford.
It's crazy to think this series never made it over, though it's cool it got a continuation with Project X Zone 1 & 2

I played through Project X Zone 1 & 2 and had a fun time, I’m very glad I played em cause now I’m very interested in playing many of the games that were featured in em. Resonance of Fate’s on the top of that list.

If you enjoyed these games i recommend checking out SRW 30 on steam.
Its basically the same kind of game, (heck both exist in the same multiverse based on the in game dialogue in some of the games) but instead of videogames characters it's anime characters facing off in a multiverse Adventure.
The Sakura Taisen characters return from PXZ so that's neat.

This game is my Religion, The potential if stayed as an Hybrid of Fighting games and turn based RPG, still gives me shivers, but ended as nothing but fanservice.

Don’t know what I would do without big daddy I’m a capcom nerd but he always drops mad knowledge on me like blade and gunlock being the same character .
Project x Zone writing is decent good. It could get some hard emotional moments for example Zero and Iris talking about the events of Rockman 4, or very funny moments with voice actors references or naming tecniques, with Ryu and X.

The beginning of pxz. Despite pxz being repetitive...it was a fun story...and I commend them for attempting to make it make sense. Just sad we get X instead of MM cause according to them, X was more realistic looking and fit better visually

Yes and yes! They keep going back and forth with the Tekken X Street Fighter game - they re making it, they re not making it, and so on. I really liked Project X Zone, and wish we'd see an official Namco X Capcom English released for modern consoles. I would like to have that on my Switch as its a perfect game to play for a lil bit and stop, then jump back into it.

@@awanfarrell2880 Id buy Namco X Capcom in a second if they released it on the Switch. Id be happy if they would port both 3DS Project X Zone games to Switch in one game - with better resolution and a light touching up of the graphics, fix any slowdown if there is any (I cant remember as its been a while since Ive played PXZ). If you like that style of game, theres also Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier for Nintendo DS or Cross Edge for PS3

I remember seeing this and wanted to play it so bad. And was bummed it was Japanese exclusive. My best friend had it on a cd and I did like some kind of soft mod to play it. And it was translated too. Never beat it though

CVS 2 is probably the best crossover of them all. Best balance in all cases. MVC2 is a close second.

while I'm pretty sure it doesnt feature any cross-company characters, an honorable mention should go to super robot taisen: infinite frontier.
the gameplay is basically a hybrid between the two games in the video, and while most of the characters are original or established in the SRW series, reiji, xiaomu and some characters from the xeno series play a major role.
I don't understand why did you mention Street Fighter X Tekken or Cross Edge and you didn't mention Endless Frontier duology that is actually story related with Namco X Capcom and Project X Zone.

I think the idea that ex-squareenix employees for them to reach out to get characters from Capcom and Namco to make a turn based tactic based game, shows they really wanted it.
Just Yesterday i was playing "Super Robot Taisen: Mugen no Frontier Exceed" when Suddenly, one of the main Characters of Namco×Capcom (the fox Girl) appears and "Brave New World" starts Playing in the Background, and i was like WHAT????

Yeah, the lack of Super Robot Wars mentions in this episode is something. And not just because of the Endless Frontier games. The man who directed and wrote the story for Namco X Capcom was Soichiro Morizumi, formerly of Banpresto, maker of Super Robot Wars. Reiji and Xiaomu are basically a new take on Kyosuke and Excellen from SRW Compact, games he personally worked on. So naturally when Namco and Bandai (owners of Banpresto) merged and they wanted an SRW RPG, Morizumi was practically a shoo-in since he was already familiar with the SRW universe, thus why Endless Frontier is the way it is. Of course the only thing missing in this story is why Morizumi left Banpresto to work for Monolith Soft in the first place. Of course, at the present, Morizumi has left Monolith Soft, so chances of a successor to Project X Zone are pretty nil.

X = Cross. I don't know why but it seems in Japan it seems to be widely excepted that X can mean cross. So Namco cross Capcom, Project cross Zone, etc. Even the Playstation controller the x is meant to be cross.

The RPG and first-person shooting game genres in video games are my least favorite genres. My favorite video game genres are:
1. Platforming games.
2. Beat 'em Up games.
3. Arcade-style fighting games.
4. Pac-Man-related games.
5. Puzzle games.
6. Arcade-style Shoot'em Up games.
7. Pinball-related games.
And 8. Racing games.
I’m really sad I missed out on these… I did have Street Fighter X Tekken and loved it. I did remember hearing about Tekken X Street Fighter, but forgot about it. So I thought I missed out, but they just didn’t make it lol
Cross edge was good. It's sad it never got the popularity it deserved. The combat was so good they used it for Record of Agarest War 2 instead of the grid they used for the first 2 games.
I play the modded English version of this whenever i want on my modded ps3 bro

Best emulators would be Dolphin (for Tatsunoko vs Capcom), DuckStation (for Capcom vs Snk), Mame (for SvC Chaos - Snk vs Capcom) and you can play Street Fighter X Tekken on PC, which means that no emulator needed for it.But then, there is a exclusive content for it in PS3 version of this game.

I remember back in 2007 when I learned how to burn dvds to my moded ps2 this one was one of the first games I downloaded and played. Never finished it but i like it even with the language barrier.
Back in 2017 i went to japan and this game was one of the games i planned to buy, i found it in book-off at shibuya for 800 yen. Got also the project x zone games on 3ds but never managed to play those because timing and because i rather play it on a playstation console than a 3ds.
I will try to play it again along with the project x zone games in the future because i a huge namco fan and i like capcom.
Also i got a theory about project x zone 3, we gonna get it in 2025 (20th anniversary for namco x capcom) or 2030 (75th anniversary for namco) i think we still get capcom & sega but i think we gonna get snk and atlus characters in it too for sure and if bandai namco want to make it bigger we gonna get ubisoft characters.

Actually Namco X Capcom doesn't play like a fighting game. It plays more like Super Robot Wars, you might have heard of it, but ofc, I wasn't expecting much from this tbh.

Luckily I have my Ps2 with matrix chip, and during my high-school ages I bought it because the portrait looked cool, I thought it was a fighting game. But it wasn't, but it was fun to play.

If they ever make a project X zone 3 I hope they also get characters from square enix and more Nintendo characters and even put in characters from naughty dog and Ubisoft but if they do all of this then I hope just like super smash Bros ultimate that it's the last game just going out with a bang

I really hope Namco X Capcom 2 gets made since I want to see some of the characters from mobile Fighter G Gundam (since Namco and Bandai which is the parent company of SUNRISE merged to become Bandai Namco) interact with Street Fighter characters. I can just imagine Allenby and Sakura doing a team up attack.
Too be honest though I can understand why it was Japan only probably because of licensing which is why for the longest time that Super Robot Taisen was Japan only due to said licensing since Sunrise for instance charges a crap ton of money for their characters to be used. Also, as someone who likes Super Robot Taisen and SD Gundam G Generation I would have played this since I probably would have gotten a PS2 instead of XBOX.

There's also Super Robot Wars Endless Frontier on the DS. It has Reiji and Xiaomu and even KOS-MOS and plays like X Zone/X Capcom. Too bad the sequel for that game was Japan exclusive

@@wallcity318 for fighting and driving it was the best on any Sega’s consoles but tactical rpg nope. I am a huge fan of the Dreamcast but we have to admit it could have better games if sega didn’t stop in 2001
