    small correction: in strive there are 3 frames of landing recovery after you use a jumping attack, so if a safejump feels like it should work, and then doesn't, that is why.

    worth noting that Anji and Baiken can counter safe jumps

    • @beenis08

      Yes but this video is covering broad terms for clarification purposes. Not an in depth look into any particular game itself. Although a video about unique character mechanics and ways to counter them wpuld be cool

    Your guides are so concise, well edited, and easy to understand! I kind of knew somewhat what frame traps, meaties, and safe jumps were but didn't know how to execute them.

    So if we talking bout strive i'd advice you to set opponent to throw on wakeup. 2 frame startup. Great video overall.

    Just one thing to add: Safe jumps will lose to frame 1 invincible wakeups, such as 1. frame 1 parries (like GGST Baiken's Hiiragi, MBTL's shields and a lot of parries in GBVSR) because these parries will lock you in an inescapable cutscene as the attack triggers them, and 2. invincible start-up command throws (like MBTL Kouma's and GBVSR's Ladiva's), due to them being "jump attacks that are safe enough to BLOCK after".
    Otherwise, great video!

    There's this really annoying piece of muscle memory I've accidentally developed on GG Plus R where (when playing Sol) and my opponent is knocked down, I run straight at them and would subconsciously use gun flame. But often the momentum of the run makes me get too close to the point the attack whiffs at point blank.
    I think I've lost SEVERAL matches because of this and it'll never not be funny seeing Sol miss his attack on a guy lying on the ground at point blank range because they somehow end up behind the hitbox.

    • @ThePantsuPanda
      @ThePantsuPanda  4 месяца назад

      LOL, yeah, that definitely sounds like it'd be frustrating. As someone who started with Strive, meaty gunflame seems like such an odd choice. But I've seen people do like, meaty gunflame YRC in Xrd before!

    • @beenis08
      @beenis08 4 месяца назад +1

      @@ThePantsuPanda I do think its worth noting that projectiles on wakeup are very VERY strong. Theyre completly safe options that can net more complex oki setups. Take for example the million ways Venom in Xrd can do ball setups. The Oki can get so complicated that it then becomes the mixup and thats more or less what makes up the whole setplay character archetype. I love fighting games lmao 😅

    i get it's a 101 but you could at least mention that many characters have moves specifically crafted to be an okizeme like
    happy chaos has a short window to reload/focus
    millia is an annoying piss of shit
    brisket can leave a timed yoyo

    • @ThePantsuPanda
      @ThePantsuPanda  4 месяца назад +1

      I appreciate the suggestion. Most of what I make is intended to be a *literal bare bones beginner* level of perspective, and these are techniques applicable to pretty much any character in the game. It's also intended to get people trying things out on their own characters. Going into a bunch of specifics would, in my mind, change the perspective of the video, and it's intention. But, I'll be sure to keep that in mind in the future.

    • @KemsKat
      @KemsKat 4 месяца назад

      @@ThePantsuPanda yeah I totally get it, what I meant is to only mention it exists and not go into any details maybe give 2-3 examples very shortly, I think it's cool to make the person watching aware there's more to it than shown in video to get them interested for one and to make them aware the concept gets more indepdth
